How many t cases have you gone through since you have been doing this car Dave? I remember back when you had the stock bottom end and were running mid 11s and was having issues with tcases.

I have 6 broken tcases sitting in the shop, all from when I started going fast. I started breaking t cases when I started running low 10s. I never broke anything but one stock driveshaft prier to running 10s. More less, I started breaking shit once the slicks went on the car.

I'd like to see this car on a dynojet.

This has made be a believer in Holsets. Might be picking up a 6-blade soon.
That's good to hear! You wont go wrong with a holset!
 
Ah I got ya. Yeah slicks can be hell on the drive train but its amazing how much power the stock stuff holds up too. If you compare these cars to other cars of the same years most dont hold half the power that our drivetrain can. Like the old t5 transmissions that went into the early 90s camaro and mustang. You could kill one with 250 whp and the rear ends werent much better. 6 t cases is pretty impressive I will say haha.

I cant wait for the shootout this year. I hope I get to see you run if you plan on it. Im considering it myself.

Yeah, I know who you are. I definitely plan on racing at the shootout! I'll be attending the IFO event at PRP on June 30th, so maybe you'll see it there!
 
That will be sick. Ill try and make it. I want to go run my car for test and tune but I keep forgetting about it because of other things going on. Im switching from an hx35 bolt on to an hy35 t3 soon so I think im going to hold off till then. I just want to see what I can do on my worn out stock bottom end.
 
Dave what rpm are you shifting at through the gears and traps?

Im shifting at 8800-9000, and going through the traps around 7800.

Also finally got my tcase in, and installed. pretty much ready to hit the track again, just waiting for my JMF deluxe catch can to show up, then its off to the track!

He wouldn't know if its leaking or not.. ... I'm fairly certain that car has yet to be boost leak tested LOL..
 
Turbo's making airflow beyond the map, metered near the intake manifold- I'm fairly certain a possible tiny boost leak at the compressor cover isn't holding him back from going 8's. :D

Regardless, it's well-sealed. :cool:
 
Ha well justin you shoulda felt the air leak out of mine before i sealed it at all! Wouldent hold over 5psi! Probably would have made shit tons more power at english if i knew about that too and my spool on the .55 would have been like 3600 I'm stoked to see 8s out of dave. Need to finish these DG konis and get 2150s and i think i should be good for some serious track time! When i get another daily driver watch out dave :) I'm commin for your times! Picking up a rear diff on saturday just incase my first track day this season results in carnage! I'm sure dave has experienced this a few times LOL.

So you plan on just going to the track and running 40psi and hope all is well. I am running a 2.3 setup with the 7 blade hx40 .70 bep housing. I wanted to get some shakedown passes in see how she feels before I try for my goal of 10s. first run 18psi ran 12.0@122 second run 12.0 @121. I did not just wanna go all out on my first pass of the season and just wing it. I am waiting on larger injectors and now my damn engine to get back from machine shop after there screw up. Why not go to the track on 25psi and see what she does get a feel for it. Everytime I read your posts it seems your thinking your gonna run 40psi and run 9s. I will tell you its a little tougher than just running big boost!

Cant wait to see Dave go 8s, there are a lot of Holset haters in Utah and would love to see this happen!!
 
How much boost are you getting off the line?

im leaving line at around 10psi, and about 30' out of the hole its at full boost!

LOL, yup havent done a boost leak test in three years. oh well the car hauls ass, good enough for me!
 
Well shit man! Still think about the potential! I hear about people shaving weight by the gram off of their DSM to get better times and you havent even boost leak tested? I'd say every cubic foot counts :thumb: we could see low 8s for all anyone knows at this point outa a 60mm. Might need nitrous to get there though. I Honestly very very impressed you have gotten this deep with no sauce so far!
 
You'll never see low 8's from a 60mm turbo- it's already well beyond what most expected it to be capable of.

Funny thing is Dave has only made two 9-second passes ever and he's sitting just two tenths away from an 8. Crazy!
 
I'd shit myself LOL. Ricky is helpin me out with my tune soon as i get the hx40 bolted up and put an oem radiator in. :doh: too bad I'm stuck on these extra crappy pte1000s. Makes life no fun. Im stuck at 26psi Might as well be running on 87 octane and 2 psi LOL. I think the fun begins at 35psi :sneaky:

The car at wot right now though is the beat it's ever been!
 
I just hope Dave gets the car running and just runs it for a while. He's never made more than a pass or two before he changes setup again!

Amen to that!! I admire your confidence but REALLY bro..... I always see sooo much bench racing...."well, when I dyno'd this, I had a boost leak so I probably COULD have made xxx horsepower....with that much power I COULD have ran [email protected] on some slicks I COULD even run xx@xxx..."..... You keep doing the "bench racer mathematics" to get your elusive 9.99, yet you haven't managed a 10, let alone a trap speed that's worthy of a 10. Not trying to bash. Basically just saying, "less talk....more walk" and "don't count your chickens before they hatch". When your running south of 10.50's and over 135mph, THEN you can talk 9's....
 
^ i am allowed to have goals. I'm actually not bench racing. because i have a goal, I'm determined to get there. Sorry for being ambitious. I'm sure everyone in this thread that drags their car has an end goal in mind for their car. thats what keeps their motivation going to get there. There are plenty of straight roads around here to get some good logs in. No track needed for this, only thing it hasn't afforded me is an ET.

Now back to you dave. Lol
