Congrats Dave, finally got it done and then some. Great run and I like the trap speed!!!

Great job. Now just wait for all the haters who are gonna say it isn't really a hx40 anymore because of the batmowheel hahaha! Absolutely insane, keep it up!

Awesome Dave!!! I knew you were going to smash into the 9's real soon and man you went deep into the 9's. Great pass and fantastic driving, congrats :thumb:

Thanks guys, I feel so much beter now!

I would be definitely putting the old hx40 on the car right now if I had the money for a new intercooler! The intercooler that I have now is not doing good with my power levels, Im seeing 60*+ Iat increase from the biggining to the end of the track!....Thats bad news! I'm done for this year with the car, The old 40 will be going back on next year!

Congratulations on finally hitting 9s:hellyeah:

I don't think its people hating? I think the majority of the people who run hx40s do it as a budget turbo setup so most won't spend 400 dollars on a Batmowheel for a 400 dollar turbo.

Some people just want to see the turbo is capable of untouched, i don't consider that hating if they're on a budget. Most people with budget builds can't afford a Dogbox either.... this is a great example of what the turbo can do if everything modified all out, im sure most typical hx40 cars won't trap 150.

Dave you have a break down of the 1/4 slip?

The PPG Dogbox became a bargain after Dave shelled out over $1000 on more than one occasion to bring his old synchro trans back to life. The constant 9000rpm shifts are just more than a synchro trans can handle.

Might as well spend the money once, and spend it right.

I dont think most people strap an hx40 on intending to run 9's. Also when you are running 9's with one of these cars, the whole budget thing is starting to be an after thought. It takes alot of parts and strong parts to keep a car like this going when its making that kind of power

Well said.

Our initial goal was to set out to prove what a 60mm HX40 is capable of since just over a year ago nobody thought these turbos were worthy of even running a 10. Now we're sitting atop a 9.6 on a shitty 1.8 60ft; 9.3's are not out of reach. Can we run a 9.3 on a shitty $435 junkyard diesel turbo? I think it's definitely capable- the BatMo40 is already a proven contender.

Dave is still on a budget- he has very limited funds to spend on the car and entry fees, hauling costs, etc. He makes do with what he can, and spends what he can afford on his car. Whether the car is out of the realm of what "most HX40 users" are looking for or not, Dave now owns a self-built, reliable mid-9's car that he is quite proud of.

Thanks for the advice but i do plan on running 9s on a hx40 and im on budget and trap over 140mph with a ton of budget parts and stock head, so that advice can go out the door.

What kind of airflow did you log with the new wheel?

Airflow was 65-66 lb/min at 39 psi at 8500 RPM ...

his old 6-blade pro would actually flow more at the same RPM's...

Comparing logs between the Batmowheel and the 6 blade pro...the 6 blade had a higher load factor, and airflow and IDC at any given rpm... the only time the batmowheel showed 70+ lb/min was above 9000 rpm ..and I dont have any logs of Dave's 6 blade pro at that high of RPM for comparison ..

My honest observation is the 6 blade pro and the Batmowheel are flowing damned near identical if you do a little factoring for the difference in IAT's.

Anyways So excited Dave..glad you finally pulled out a 9... now drop 500 lbs of weight, and get the launch figured out and you'll be knocking on 8's door before you know it.... Most importantly though..get a CAGE!!!

Ill upload the time slip on the the first post, give me a min!

Yeah, very shitty 60ft! We are thinking that the Batmowheel, just may not be able to perform/ show beter results, cause of the -70ar housing...we think the housing is maxed out! Old Hx40 will be going back on!

I'd love to see that! What's your race weight? (I may have missed it, but I don't recall seeing it). I read 2,960 in your profile, but wasn't sure if that was still correct.

Not necessarily- I think the airflow will go back up once we get the intake temps under control. The 165* intake temps at the end of the run surely have some effect on airflow.

Like I said at the track I'd love to compare both turbos back-to-back on a car that has plenty of fuel and a good intercooler, then we'll know for sure if the turbine housing is really a restriction.

That being said- this is a 60mm turbo with a .70a/r turbine housing- most 61mm 35R users are running a .82a/r housing, which is a bit larger...the housing Dave is using is actually closer to being a .63 than it is a .82. I'd even consider getting a .82 T3 housing machined to accept the HX40 turbine if we reach a point where either turbo hits an airflow wall.
