The stock coil packs should definatly take you into the 9s. My car made close to 650hp last year on the stock coils, a buddy of mine made 706 meth/36psi, and I know the dogbox racing boys went 9.0@160 with the stock coil packs and a 120ish shot on top with 35ish psi.

Straight cut dog ring engagement transmissions are completely streetable. Ive driven dogbox racings helical faceplated dogring engagement trans all the time, my buddy with a mustang daily drove his pro shifted dog engagement trans. Its very old technoligy since manually shifted big rigs and dump trucks use them still. If they had syncros they wouldnt last 300+ thousand miles like they do.

Get that car into the 9s!!!!

Ended up having a bad alternator, that would only charge at 11.2 volts at idle, and dropping as the rpms went up! Big cause in the miss firing at high rpms, and one more thing I just found out, that the #1 cylinder injector oring that sits in the head was missing this hole time!!! Don't know what happen to it:ohdamn:...

I have three more t cases to break now, ready for the shootout!:hellyeah:
 
Maybe this is in the thread and I missed it. but what have you done to the car as far as weight reduction? How much do you think the car weighs?
 
Minor setback for now- Dave's car is popping out of second gear under load for some reason. Happened twice at the Shootout; he put the car on the trailer before he caused any more damage to his ShepTrans. Could be as simple as a shift cable adjustment or as complicated as bent shift forks.

Dave's planning on pulling the trans and taking it to Shep in two weeks just to have it gone over. Most trans guys claim that when driveline parts break it puts an extreme shock on the trans internals at that horsepower level. Dave had broken three transfer cases due to the Driveshaft Shop being had a little too short and not allowing the yoke to slide the entire way onto the transfer case tail shaft. This has been remedied, and soon the whole setup will be ready to roll down the track a few more times before the end of the year in search of a 9!

Regarding the car, it weighs 2660lbs with out me in it... Don't know what happen to the trans at the shootout, just would not go into 2nd gear, and then ended up popping out of 2nd gear when putting it in. So then loaded it up, so I wouldn't do further damage to the trans!

It was very nice to meet you dave! I had the same problem with the trans just with 4th gear on the first elemintion round. It just would not go in at 9500 rpm. It was fine after the race but the guy beat me. Oh well next year! Let me know whats up with your tranny when you get it fixed.
 
Well unloaded the car off the trailer yesterday since the shootout, and took it down the road and every thing was normal! Shifted fine with no issues! WTF
Was going through the car to find out what happen to it. found out the clutch was dragging at 6500 rpms, so I adjusted the clutch and all is good now! I also need to flush out the clutch fluid and put new in. So I don't know, the car shifts fine into 2nd gear at 8500 now, so maybe back to the track soon to find out if its going to hold up!

You should, that would be awesome! I will let you guys know, id say a couple weeks. I have to build the funds back up from spending $780 over the shootout weekend! It was worth it.

I think that would be pretty badass- I never got to walk over and check out the Auto-X course. It might be difficult to beat some of the better Auto-X drivers, but they may not have any drag racing experience....not sure how the crossover is scored.
