Not necessarily- I think the airflow will go back up once we get the intake temps under control. The 165* intake temps at the end of the run surely have some effect on airflow.

Like I said at the track I'd love to compare both turbos back-to-back on a car that has plenty of fuel and a good intercooler, then we'll know for sure if the turbine housing is really a restriction.

That being said- this is a 60mm turbo with a .70a/r turbine housing- most 61mm 35R users are running a .82a/r housing, which is a bit larger...the housing Dave is using is actually closer to being a .63 than it is a .82. I'd even consider getting a .82 T3 housing machined to accept the HX40 turbine if we reach a point where either turbo hits an airflow wall.

LOL! I just wanted to stir shit up a bit. Nice E.T. and progress. You should seriously consider machining the .82 T3 housing.

All those passes were still on race gas weren't they? Throw on e85 in that bad boy... that'll get the temps down. :thumb:

Car runs on Q16, correct.

I'm confused as to how E85 is going to cool the air charge coming from the turbo.

Not convinced E85 is a wise choice at this point, either. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tuning-engine-management/416147-e85-goo-time-attitude.html

E85 has a much greater latent heat of vaporization than gasoline, cooling the intake charge inthe runners and thus increasing its air density-rather like intercooling. You also use a greater volume of fuel and it and it burns cooler in the cylinders.

It all ends up in the cylinders, and thats where it matters. IMO

Not to mention it's cheaper assuming you have a capable fuel system. With a race setup like his I'd just go with a barrel of e98. (Just paid $325 for a 50 gal barrel) That way you know your not getting additives and such. Would be much cheaper than c16. Just a thought... trying to help out. Might not be available in your area?

Thanks for helping out, but I'm really happy with the fuel I'm running! There is no e85 near me, also the nearest place I can get e98 is over an hour away...
I buy 1 can of Q16 a month durring the race season, and 1 can is good for two or more trips to the track, around 12-15 passes! So I can't complain about spending $90 on fuel a month, and knowing that its going to perform the same everytime!

I was kinda in the same boat in choosing a fuel source when i was buying bigger injectors. Luckily i have E85 locally so i will be going that route. I have been running race gas and I too love the consistency, but I'm looking forward to being able to keep my race tune and high boost setting on the street. Assuming E85 will be good enough for 35-40psi on the HX35. This wouldn't be much of an issue if I didn't plan to drive it on the street.

Thats understandable for you, with driving it on the street... I don't enjoy driving my car on the street, no radio, no AC, bumpy rough riding, loud, and just not fun clumbing in and out of for me! Also its so boring where I live, there is nothing around here, no car meets, nothing but cops!..LOL
I like racing my car at the track, and thats about it, hell if you have ever seen it at my local track, I dont even clean it, wash, or wax, its probably the dirtiest car at the track when I go! So that all being said, there is no point of me switching to any other kind of fuel, when I'm doing so great with what I'm running.... Not to many people ( if any ) can say they are running mid 9s, and trapping 150+mph with 1200cc injectors!

Nice. I'm so jealous and I hate you.I kid I kid. Thats awsome.Good job.
Thanks man, should have been there it was fun beating up on some V8s!!!

Reminds me of Rickys car at the DSMlink race, dirtiest car, but the only one running tens LOL. Yeah my friends were asking me why i haven't put my FPR and -6 lines on yet, i tell them, "When a DSM is running good, you try not to mess with too much sh it."

;) .. I get hell about that all the time... I'm soo lazy when it comes to washing that thing... It only happens when Sharon gets tired of seeing it dirty and washes it for me ....or maybe the day before the shootout...

Hahaha. It was so funny seeing this car that looked, well rough to be honest, run so good. It shows you're a better tuner than a detailer. By the way, nice work on helping Dave's car running nines. I'm sure this will help get more people heading your way.

So Dave... what's next? (saw your post about the cage and other safety stuff, but wasn't sure if that was officially being done or not)..

Yeah gonna work on getting the cage and the rest of the safety equipment, going to get an ETS frontmount, and add another fuel rail with another set of 1200cc injectors! Also going to work on getting every extra weight out of the car and get it as light as we can!
The plan is, to see how far we can go with the Hx40/bat40... My over all goal is 8s, if we can do it, then awesome, if not oh well we tried!

If guys can run 9s with a 16g turbo, why can't the hx40 go 8s?

I may try to pick up another sponsor to help out with my goal... I need help with ignition, rear axles, and a intercooler!!! But if I can get it all on my own, thats even beter!

What the hell , sponsership doesn't count as on a budget! This is an outrage ! Haha . If your not running nitrous a good healthy shot will for sure boost you up a little bit!

Are you going to spray it into the 8s?

The budget thing is whatever, my budget is to get the best stuff when I can, I have to save up to get the things I need for the car! I'm not really worried about people thinking if this is a budget or not..... I set my mind on getting the best results with a Hx40, and thats what I'm going to do.

I have no plans on ever running nitrous, just want to do it on boost and driving... Just need to learn how to get good smooth launches!

I paid less for my dogbox, then it would cost for a new shep stage3!!! After selling my QM twin, and my trans I only had about $1000 in the dogbox, sounds like a budget to me!
