Talondave, sets new Holset 1/4mile Trap speed record!!!

The MPH for all of these holset records are ridiclious! Why can't anyone get a decent 60' would be my question. Daves car (although completely BA) should be running low 9's with that mph. I think as soon as the autos start coming out in full force 9's will be easy with the hx35's.

Not trying to take anything away from any of the holset guys (i'll soon be one), but a 9.99 second run isn't near as impressive as the MPH these guys are running! :hellyeah:

Just my .02.

A little off subject, but just for comparison my 3100lb rx-7 runs 10.14 @ 133. Should be able to crack a 9.99 with some good air. This is with a 1.46 60'. I wish I had that nutty MPH!

I thinkl this means someone will have to step up with a hx35 and click off a 10.

trust me, I'm trying LOL

what is the HX35 record for .55 dsm housing?
The .55 DSM housing really seems to choke any HX35 i've ever seen...I'm doubting anybody is faster than 11.50s with that and thats being generous (at least w/ my experience on them) ..The HX40's perform significantly better than the HX35 in the .55 AR housing...but they are really apples and oranges in terms of exhaust flow potential.

Mike1992 put down these #s with an HX35 with a mitsu bullseye bolt on housing (.55 a/r) back in 2008.
1/4 Mile: 11.292 @ 126.120
1/8 Mile: 7.467 @ 103.590
60' Time: 1.870

And no matter how expensive i can say it is, no matter how cool it looks or anything. All i want is to pull the PT6776 off and put a plain old 7 blade HX-35 with stock turbine housing on my car :(

I may have not gotten what i wanted (holset) but at least i'm on the road with a compresor wheel that has 100% of it's blades intact LOL

Everyday i look at these threads and ask myself (where in the holsets do they cast the "magical widget" that makes them perform the way they do? LOL)

I have no idea whats going on this year, last year I was getting 1.54 60fts and this year its all 1.6-1.7s, I tried to launch a little harder and neted me a broken axle... I think im going to lower my 2 step down to 5500 and add a little anti-lag and try that...

I'm gonna try and break that this summer with my hx40 bep combo. Dave whens your next track visit?

what are you going to break? I'm sure the bolt on HX40 record is much better than 11.50 at 125. You best be readt to run 10.99 at 130 or better to be even thinking about it.

He must have meant HX-35 or HY-35, no way 11.50 is even close when Dave here is almost in the 9s with the HX-40.

I went 10.8X with a best mph of 134.6mph in my bolt-on bep .55 a/r hx40. :)

Im going to the track again in two weeks, just have some crap to figure out with my clutch setup....My clutch is disengauging like 2" from the floor, and I dont like it. My clutch Is adjusted all the way out, so have to figure out whats going on!

Why do you need a clutch when your banging gears with the strait cut? LOL

Launching? It will be quite difficult to launch properly with the clutch grabbing right off the floor.

You should post an engine bay pic. I'm just curious as to what it looks like, especially now that there is a shiny new tranny sitting in there.

Just a thought on your clutch. I've noticed when buying parts store master cylinders that there's 2 versions (at least for the 2g) the only visible difference is the clevice that attaches to the pedal (the rod threads into it and is where you adjust it on a 2g) Anyway, the clevice is different in construction and length.

The important thing is that you can't mix them up, you have to use the one that came with the master even though it's harder to chage that compared to leaving the existing one on the pedal and just threading the new master rod into it.

Having the wrong one on does EXACTLY what you're haviing touble with. I just went through this on my last master change this summer, after the swap and bleeding the pedal was grabbing right off the floor and there wasn't enough thread to adjust it any other way.

might want to check into it if you replaced the amster when this started

The old trans was actually "newer" if you want to get technical. ;)

I was talking about the .55 Bep housing. Should see in November at IFO.

....and actually I believe the trap speed record for the .55 bolt-on housing is 139.03.

Have you had a chance to check into the clutch masteror figure out what was giving you the issues with engagement?

Haha! I bought the turbo off this car. Regular 8 blade HX40 in a BEP bolt on housing. I've seen this car in person and it ran this pass with a junk yard bottom end 6 bolt LOL

Yeah I figured it out, I had the rod all the way loose not tight:ohdamn:....my bad, its good now!

Sweet!!, glad to hear nothing is wrong and it was just a user error. Funny how no matter how good of a mechanic you are, you'll still slip up on some of the simplest things sometimes :D (trust me sometimes i want to smack myself for some of the retarded moves i pull...shhhhhhh)

Any updated on the car as far as the batmowheel, changes to the setup or things you're hoping to try at the next track event?

Still waiting on Justin to get the bullseye turbo done, then will be installing it, and head to the track! I got a buschur race core frontmount off of Justin to use for the rest of this year, and did it make a world of a difference! The car feels amazing now, definitely a hole new animal... I have high hopes for the car on the next outing at the track!!!
