U suck but glad to see someone will be running it. I was gonna buy the wastegates and the exhaust pipe. If your not gonna run it let me know because I will pick the exhaust pipe up off you any time.

If i dont put the 52 on my talon, it will go on my mirage. I think the exhaust will probably work on the mirage though. If not, ill let you know

Some HX40 purchase woes...

First of all, when the package arrived, I realized it was shipped to me in a box entirely covered with peanuts. The turbo wasn't wrapped in anything else, which caused two problems:

1. Peanuts ALL inside the compressor housing/center section/turbine housing. I spent an hour with sharp tools and compressed air to try and get those little packing peanuts out of the damn turbo!

2. Because it was poorly shipped, the compressor outlet took some damage. The lip of the compressor outlet chipped on a small section. I really, really hope this won't affect boost leaks or a coupler holding pressure.

3. Lastly, it looks to me like the wastegate outlet is welded off. Does this mean I have to use an external wastegate off the manifold?

Will I be able to run my cut divider Ported 2g o2 housing with this setup? Also, any advice on a manifold setup for this guy now?

Today i was a complete moron. After getting the car running again since putting the new turbo(H1E) on and getting my laptop to sync up with dsmlink again i was able to make some fuel adjustments and take the car down the street to see if anything fell off. Well it rained last night, so the roads were alittle damp. I drove down the block and checking oil pressure and letting the car warm up just in second gear. I turn around to come back, no one was around and f-it, put the pedal to the floor. dumb, dumb dumb, the rvs climb to about 4k and holyshit the car goes ape crazy. all four tires break loose and the ass end kicks out and the car goes left I over correct to the right and the hood flys up (forgot to latch the pins) and i cant see. I slam on the brakes and start to slide to a stop just before coming inchs to slaming into a parked car. I wish I would have datalogged it. I was laughing so hard and shaking i could barly get out of the car to close the hood. My car never did this with my old E16g. Just thought I'd share.

Well before this info gets any older I'm going to post it in case it might do somebody some good.

I called Bullseye about the DSM-in / DSM-out stainless housing for the HX-35 and wound up talking to David Hall when the woman who answered the phone started giving me wrong information. Here are my notes from the conversation with David.

HX-35 TMH1 turbine housings, Oct 30, 2008:
David says they are stainless. The ones they have in stock are not polished. They can send them out to a robotic polisher for $45, no problem. They are TMH1 housings which is the proper part # for HX35 DSM in / DSM out .55ar housings, so they have not been reworked from TD05 or Garrett housings. They have the drilled wastegate passage. They can give you a puck to weld over the wastegate passage if you want wastegate on the manifold.
They have 4 or 5 of these housings in stock.

Says the TMH1's they have right now were poured 6-9 months ago. He says ones that were poured a year or more ago could possibly be plain steel, they did make some that way.

David says the HX35 compressor cover is 8" across. He actually has 1 or more there in stock, 7 blade, says that's how they all come now. I told him I was surprised that he had any, thought he didn't sell them anymore. He said he doesn't "promote" them anymore but he will still sell them to people who want one. $999 price. I didn't ask if they are new from Holset, or rebuilt. Or if they have the Holset ID plate on the compressor housing.

Happens more often than you think. I believe guys just walk into a UPS store, set the turbo on the counter, and say "I need to ship this". That's when the caring hands of the employee take over. I guess plastic bags are too hard to come by these days.

Because it was poorly shipped, the compressor outlet took some damage. The lip of the compressor outlet chipped on a small section. I really, really hope this won't affect boost leaks or a coupler holding pressure.
Not a big deal at all.

Yes, unless you feel like chiseling that flapper off. I don't recommend this.

It would work, but it better be VERY ported to match the compressor outlet of the HX40 housing without becoming a bottleneck.

My manifold of choice would be the newest-issue SBR manifold with the wastegate flange right on the manifold. The early SBR manifolds were horrible....it took some time, but I think they've finally got it figured out.

Personally, I prefer the wastegate on the o2 housing, but since this is what you're given I'm sure you can make the best of it.

Hey guys my t3 .70 housing came in today and my question is, can i use the stock half washer things to bolt up the housing? The stock housing uses 6 bolts and the 2 washers, the BEP housing has 4. I set them on there and they seem to big(they overlap the housing) and the holes dont line up to well.

We need to hurry up and get in the 10's with the hx40's and bigger so these garret guys have nothing except their warranty's to brag about LOL

edit Hell even a couple t3 hx35 :)

Next season on my first round out. It won't even be a question of if it will happen. The question will be which run will it happen on?

Yea. Pretty much i plan on running 10s this year. I have the setup for it. So... i am ready for a low 10 sec time slip.

Read my profile for more info.

Screw 10's, I wanna see Slippi, Badman, Biglady, myself and other Holsets in the 9's. :D I know it's a lofty goal, but the hx40 pro and hx52 guys pushing 40+ psi should be able to get there if we can keep our transmissions from grenading in the process. OMG

Yeah I'm going for 9's but I just want to see more than one or two of us going fast cause I think it's obvious that holset turbos are better both price and performance but we don't have the number to back this up YET:sneaky:

By the way I'm running a dog cut gear trans from dogbox racing in North Jersey
