I'm shooting for 10's in a RWD car on stiff arse suspension on 275 nitto DR's. Also, still something with decent enough spool to turn the boost down and at least have fun down a twisty road. Not the fastest guy mind you, but still have fun. I spank purpose built GTR's with my HX40 now down back roads :hellyeah: I'm sure this turbo will be enough, but if I can make more hp with less boost, I'd like to. Also nice to have the head room when I get a built motor.

That is amazing that you have gtr'S to race.

Well i ordered a hx40 rebuild kit off ebay and look what they sent me.

It actually fits in my bep turbine housing. I was thinking of running it just to see what they are made of, but the hassle of changing the turbo soon after installing it doesn't seem worth it. I think i'll sell it to one of the honda guys on craigslist. With full disclosure, of course.

So, are you saying they sent you a knock off Holset turbo or what? I'm sort of confused by your wording.

Also, I did a few runs today and I'm seeing boost right at 3k on my hx-35 with BEP housing. I didn't think I would see boost until 3500 or later. That got me very excited.

Yes they sent me a knock off holset, no that isn't what i ordered. I ordered a rebuild kit.

Wow! Can you get some pics of the wheels with the housings off and get some measurements? I wonder how closely they copied everything. Also, if they are cheap enough, might be worth getting them just for the correct sized exhaust housing if it's what you need.

Yeah I don't even know how there is a market for knock off holset. If I got my turbo any cheaper I would have needed a ski mask and a gun. ROFL

Funny thing is i paid $125 for my real hx40. These knock offs sell for around $300 plus $50 shipping. They are marketed for the diesel guys.

if i were you i think i would at least give it a try. nobody has tested them here that i knowof.

Can you do the community a favor and take a bunch of pictures of that turbo. All sides showing markings/casting marks, tag, fastners, etc and post the pics in the fake holset thead? Make multiple posts if you need to get all the pics up.

Also, the vender you got it from would be good too.

Thanks.

Hate to bring this back up, but i'm having nightmares about the f-ing oil restrictor. What size? I've seen from .035 to .100. I'm feeding off of the OFH to a H1E via a -4 line. I see close to 100psi at redline and 5psi when warm, with balancer shafts. So what gives?

How did you guys resolve the v-band outlet of the compressor? I have the hx-35 with the 7 blade which has the vband outlet.

I'm having a vband clamp welded onto my new intercooler piping this weekend.

I went the vband route with a 90* aluminum elbow, but if I had it to do over, I'd just have the aluminum elbow welded to the compressor outlet. Less chance of a leak.

You can use the Cummins vband elbow, its only about a 70 degree bend and the outlet is 3".
So you need a reducer and a 20 degree bent stub. Probably easier to weld a 90 on.

Slightly grind the lip just enough to force a 2.5" silicone coupler on with a t-bolt clamp.

I have another question. With the 7blade hx-35 it says it's capable of 60lb/min with the twin scroll exhaust side. It said in the first post that it dosn't SEAM to be able to pump those numbers out with the bolt on bep mitsu housing. Does anyone have any flow numbers with the 7blade and the bep housing? My goal is a mid 11 1/4 pass but don't have the money to add the t3 manifold and a different wastegate setup.
