Yes @Spleen8urLSX has done it. I belive he was around or above the horsepower you are wanting but I can remember for sure. Hopefully he can chime in here.I'll take a picture here of the difference between the 1g turbo and n/t ring lands. It's...

It'll be fine as long as the tune is good.Stock bottom end 2g's start to show weak points around 450ish but usually it's the rods or bearings that guys have issues with after multiple passes. Normally when you do see pictures of someone that...

NPR pistons are very close to an OEM equivalent piston. You'd have to have the small rod ends machined by a machine shop to accept the 22mm wrist pins that the 7 bolt pistons will have. (You probably already know that)Another option is evo 8...

I just bought the DSMtuners 20-year Anniversary shirt (it's an awesome shirt by the way), and that inspired me to recreate a picture from the day I first bought my 1G, back in January 2003. I was just a 16-year-old kid with a $250 car (with a...

You don't see the big automotive media outlets focus on DSMs too much, so it's cool to see this article on AutoEvolution..."Mike's V8-powered supercar has to prove itself against Ronnie's heavily modified Eagle Talon, which allegedly makes 800...

You should be fine with a stock replacement clutch. There are very few people who have built our engines in N/A form which put out enough power that the stock clutch isn't enough.

Actually I would be worried more about bearings and cam journals. I don't know exactly how long and how high the engine ran, but you could have run it dry or without oil pressure for some time. So if I were you, at least I would remove the valve...

There are people that swear smoking crack doesn’t cause them any ill effects as well. Still wouldn’t personally try it.Go authentic MHI or nothing. If you can’t pay you shouldn’t play.

97egl replied to the thread Turbo cams for Hyundai head.
I've used several G4CN cylinder heads without any cam interchange issues. I know it's not the exact same engine but I can't see why they would redesign the cam journals for a similar engine. If you measure the diameter of your cam journals one of...

If it's like the US 2.0 sonatas the intake ports are in-between the size of the 1g and 2g ports. What isn't great about them is that the ports are still centered with the manifold studs where the 2g ports have the floor of the port raised but...

That plug for the crank hole is OEM. It’s in the 1G parts catalog and you can still get them. All our cars had them originally, most of them have just gone missing over the years.
    • 97egl
My guess would be that it probably came from a racecar that was raced in a division subject to flywheel inspection.
    • 97egl
Definitely is not for our cars. Way too long in the snout. There should only be 2 "step" downs after the front main bearing journal and there's 3. The step after the main journal should be round and as you noted it has flats for an oil pump...

You probably have but I didn't see it mentioned in the thread if you have checked the strut mounts? That is the moog part number for a right control arm for 90-94 eclipse/talon/laser

Its going to depend on how bad that engine is and what you can do yourself rebuild wise. Looks like it saw plenty of water/moisture but the bores may clean up with just a good hone or they could be pitted so bad you have to bore it 1mm oversize...

So as some of you have probably seen, the gears and gasoline YouTube channel bought and road tripped a 2G DSM along with an RX8. They definitely had some issues (not gonna spoil it for those that haven’t watched) but it’s a great series. Due to...

If you can get one axle out I believe you should be able to run a long punch thru the diff to the other side and use that to knock the other axle out. I've not done that to a DSM before but don't see why it wouldn't work. Unless the diff pin is...

There is no thrust bearing on the shaft. That’s the only thing that takes an axial load. A stub shaft is just as likely to move axially as a whole shaft. We ran stub shafts in 1300+ hp builds with a fuel pump driven off the timing belt. Zero...
