^^18.5cm are you sure you want to go there. I have 16cm housing and my turbo rebuild shop had a good look at it and told me it was somewhere around 1.00 - 1.2 a/r.

The new build is a 90 tsi all out drag car with a goal of 650whp...I'm sure

Plus he's going with a divided manifold.

16cm hsing is smaller than 1.00A/R I have acouple of housings here(4) and some divided Garrett housings here in my grasp.

How come I can't find any logs from people running the t3 .70 a/r housing. Can someone with the housing post a log up so I can compare spool time.

Im sorry if this has already been covered earlier but if I run the hx35 with the T3 housing do I have to fab my own o2 housing?

^^I believe the bep t3 .70 housing comes with only the v-clamp style. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. You can also have a shop that specializes in turbo rebuilds to machine a t3garrett housing to fit your holset. There are several a/r choices ranging from .48 a/r to 1.06 a/r. Thats what I and another member did. I think it was a 14cm housing, but either way your going to have to get someone to make you a custom o2 housing or buy one from ebay. I suggest going the t3 garrett way because most turbo rebuilders have several housings laying around that they'll sell you dirt cheap.

If you want to keep it simple just stick with the bolt-on .55 a/r housing. It's up to you.

Have people been having better success with these turbos at high boost reving high on a 2.0 or with strokers running them to lower rpms? I know badman21 had a stroker and has about the most hp i've seen so far which made me want to go stroker with my setup.

Well, a turbocharger doesn't know what rpm your engine is revving. It just knows how much flow you're demanding from it. The stroker vs. high revving 2.0 debate is not turbo specific. A higher revlimit and a 2.0L block would have given badman21 similar results. The dyno run was in 3rd gear. His MPH in the dyno graph with the hx40 peaked out at 89mph. 3rd gear at 89mph is right at 7000rpms rev limit. 7K using a stroker shows the same piston speed as 7850rpms with a 2.0L motor. Assuming 100% VE at their revlimit, the stroker flows 7% more volume at 7K vs. a 2.0L at 7.85K. But of course it flows 20% more volume up to 7K. . .

These turbos DO like higher boost that their garrett T counterparts, they DO spool faster. So a 2.0 CAN get away with decent spool with higher boost from these turbos and curb the need to go for a stroker to reach a high power goal if you're not wanting to rev to 9K. But the question is after you've invested in a transmission that can handle ths power level of an hx40 or h1e and the cams and smim worthy of their level, why not rev it to 9K? Again this really isn't a question that characteristics of a turbocharger can answer. These turbos are more streetable with a 2.0L engine vs. other turbos of similar flow. They are more streetable and offer a broader powerband on any engine, though.

Yeah I'm gonna try my luck with a stroker setup as it seemed to alow badman to run enough boost to make big power and I'm gonna have to build stuff to take a lot of stress at that kinda power level anyway. Money pit project number 3.

Yeah that looks like the real deal. That is a unbutchered one too looks like it came right off a cumings no aftermarket rigging or anything even has the mutant internal wastegate setup that mine had when I got it . Looks like 16cm housing too. Def keep an eye on that

While all you boys have made your seventy two million posts about the holsets I had to register two years ago just to read about them for my Chrysler Conquest. Fast forward to now when I finally have a DSM and had to put in my requisite 50 posts to talk with the big kids. Some info I have for everyone.

For those wanting a bolt on BEP housing for the HX35 its going to be difficult to find as theturbotrader.com has had some issues with people breaking in and Bullseye sold their last batch to them.

However, I did manage to acquire one from Bullseye directly for a bit more money. They said they had a few laying around. Hopefully mine will be up and running before the weekend. Just finishing a top end rebuild and clutch swap. I'll post logs as I tune if anyone is still interested even though its been covered. Mod list is current.

Also I have a few spare HX35 parts laying around including a spare CHRA if anyone is looking for rebuild parts or housings just PM me.

As you can see. We know alot more about them now. We even have confirmed compressor maps now . I wonder if bep will pick up the ball again. I feel there's a demand for these. But no vendor seams to want to sell you a housing, just promote a turbo they build or another complete unit. . . I wonder if there's more money in it . But, you can get any t3 garret housing cut for the hx35, I know. And they can be had used for CHEAP. They arn't bolton but neither is the turbos the vendors are selling now-a-days. Still a new hx35 in a new bep housing is going to be more affordable than a slower spooling gt30r and it flows the same or more.

I spoke with BEP last week. They informed me they won't be working with the Holset turbos any time soon if ever again. They are having a lot of success with the Borg Warner turbos.

The hx40 takes the same exhaust housing as a s256-s362 so as long as they make more for them you can use it on a hx40or a hx35 for that matter

Now, I have the opportunity to get a 35/40x, and know the stroker would be too much for the BEP housing. But if I changed it to the T3 .70 housing (holla at me slippi84), personally I feel this would be the optimal setup for a more street than track usage vehicle. Shoul have awesome spool characterstics and good top end (revving to 7-7.5). Let me know what you guys think! Also, injectors are 1050's, LINK, AFPR, going to -8 fuel lines, going to build custom 3" DP->Full Exhaust, and a Jacks premium with cryo and 10% taller 5th. All other odds and ends will be there. So again, give me yall's inputs. Goal is 450+ on low boost setting 500+ on high boost setting, maybe more with meth involved!

hx40 with 6-blade compressor wheel. no hybrid. The hx35 turbine wheel is a little bigger than the t3 stage3 wheel. The hx40 is close to a p-trim t4 wheel. The .55 a/r with a p-trim turbine wheel is plenty for your goals and the hx40 with the .55 a/r bep has been proven to be plenty for the 600whp range. A bigger a/r open housing would just be more laggy for no real benefit if you want 500ish whp.

I wonder if the breaking in problems have anything to do with the fact that I ordered a DIY holset kit with the t3 housing over 2 mounths ago and still have not recieved anything. Does anyone else here have any experience with theturbotrader.com? I keep calling and leaving messages and have wrote several emails and have not gotten a response.
