I'm not sure if it helps the twin-scroll vs. open scroll debate any, but I just got the dyno results back for my 18cm^2 twin scroll setup. My car made 454.84 hp and supposedly 420ish torque (WTF?) on pump gas at a measley 25psi because my Profec B wouldn't boost any higher. Details are in the results thread.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/313476-holset-turbos-results-only-complete-installed-systems.html

I'm a little weirded out by the shop's explanation... "We couldn't get a good signal from the car for the RPM reading to look right on the sheet", along with their other explanation that.. "we didn't include a torque number on the sheet because the dyno was reading wrong (around 700tq) but the car actually made low 420ish ft lbs". Does that seem strange to anyone else?

The tach signal was bad. It makes the torque go sky high on the sheet. Good HP numbers on pump gas. So she started to fall off after 7k? I wish you have an accurate hp vs. RPM sheet. You know that we can calculate the toque curve if you have an accurate HP curve with rpms.

What does your timing curve look like? Are you allowed to show a link log? What maf are you running?

Get rid of that electronic boost controller and get a simple ball/spring controller. You'll ramp up faster and have no issues running more boost. . .

I'm using an unhacked 2G MAF. What would cause the RPM numbers to be that far off? The tach signal also?

You have link. Just upgrade to link V3 and use speed density :)

i have been playing around with speed density on my setup, its really easy to tune with and i gained an instant EST 50whp over the 2g maf, the turbo sounds so mean:). I'm guessing the unhacked 2g MAF was a restriction. best part is i can let my ricer side free by venting my BOV ROFL

yea i just finished switching to SD today, very happy with how it drives!

Yea, I can't wait to swap to Speed Density myself. Hopefully I can get around 500whp on pump after I ditch the 2gmaf and get a 5" intake pipe. I'm also gonna remove my resonators and go full 3.5" turbo-back exhaust and see if it makes a difference.

Yeah... AFter many years the LINK users are happy with what any AEM, or other standalone EMS had years ago... SD. Now go ahead and make another thread, how great DSM-link is... JK...

Welcome to the 2003-4...
Just messing with you guys, enjoy your MAP readings combined with AIT's AKA ---SD.

Or, run speed density on the stock ECU like people have been doing for years...for freeROFL.

Ok, enough threadjack, back on track.

What are you using for the exhaust housing?

The exhaust housing im using is a holset T4 inlet 17cm^2 housing. It is the smallest T4 inlet hx40 housing i could find.

Well, after a few long nights getting the car ready for Pinks All Out this weekend, i made a halfway decent pass on my 4th and final run. Ironicly it was against a cummins powered truck that ran 11.97 running a compound borg warner setup. I didnt do any tuning this weekend and was just trying to get a couple clean passes in. On a rough tune and 30psi i ran 11.62@125mph. My 60' was only 1.84 though, and was shifting slower than i usually do just to be sure i hit them all. Ill be turning up the boost and doing some tuning this week. I think i can run high 10s fairly easy with it on a good pass.

I drove about 140 miles round trip to go to the track (only 1 other racer drove their car to the event that i know of) and the new setup is much more street friendly. With just a rough tune it seems to be fully spooled around 4300rpm. Ill try to get it dialed in and post.

BTW, i didnt get picked but had a good time anyways.

So I picked up my car this weekend from Polk after the dyno tune and I can say is..WOW. I'm officially a believer in twin scroll tech (and in the power potential of Holset's ). My old turbo (scm6152) was like an on off switch, the car felt gutless and slow until 4k and then it would spool all of a sudden. With the twin scroll T4/18cm^2 Holset setup the powerband is much more smooth and gradual. The car feels much more responsive throughout the powerband and the top end is insane. The part throttle response is much better with the new twin-scroll setup than before with the 2g mani and .63mitsu housing. I don't really know how to explain it but the car is just more fun to drive now than it was before. The HX40 pro seems to spool faster than the SCM61 and I should have alot more power potential with it. I'm pretty confident that as soon as I ditch the 2g MAF and Profec B for an SD setup with an MBC that I'll be able to turn up the boost and make 10's without much trouble. HX40 Pro+TS/T4=Phenominal. :hellyeah:

very nice!
do you have any logs we can look at? im kitting about 46lb.min on my 7 blade HX35 but im still only at like 21psi LOL

Look what I recently found!!! I'm going to throw away my laggy Turbonetics t4 and put this one soon.

Well I have 2 things to ask. First I have a hx-35 8blade and I ordered a bep .55 housing for it. I got the housing the other day and noticed it has h1 in marker on it. Should I read into that, did I get the wrong housing? also can some one post pix of how far I should port the waste gate hole for the external gate? I see that if I port the one side I'll be digging into par of the casting wall. A pic would be great so I could show the machenist on what to take out.

I agree. I knew the TS would spool faster, but didnt expect to gain so much power in the low and mid range. I think this is a great street setup, IMHO.

You got the right housing. Long time ago, they/BEP/ used to stamp on the housingsTMH1-for HX-35 and TMH2-for HX-40. Just try it on to make sure, before you port WG hole.

So the H1 marking you have, should be about right.
