Congratz Biglady on hitting 205 mph. I was wrong to doubt you. :) What AFR are you running? You can possibly lower the temps with a tad bit of advance if the motor can handle it or just switch fuels (which is costly as you probably need new pump and injectors). Man can't wait to see you hit 220. Please take a video of it so we can all watch the run. :thumb:

Am i correct in assuming that less blades on the turbine will increase lag, but free up top end flow?

Measure the blades. The run of the mill Holset phone rep has been proven be to rather unreliable, IMHO. The hx40 12blade turbine wheel equals the measurements they have given you. And my h1e has a 12blade turbine wheel with those same measurements.

Yes, less blades could very well lead to more flow at the sacrifice of slower spool. But the angle of the blades, spacing, and the other aerodynamic characteristics play a huge role: which is why all the holset turbine wheels out perform garrett gt counterparts in every facet in the first place. All you can do is measure and if the wheel has those dimensions you can run one of the BEP housing and tell us what this turbine wheel can do. . . That is if you want to run a BEP housing.

Either your turbine housing is much bigger than my 19cm^2 h1e housing, or that is a t3 turbine inlet.

Actually my 12blade h1e turbine wheel appears to have "looser" spacing and less angle from the shaft axis than your 10blade. Which would mean that your 10 blade wheel may spool faster and flow a little less, IF the diameters are the same. So you REALLY need to measure those diameters. If it will bolt into a BEP housing, this could be a faster spooling variant of the hx40 we can bolt on. It could flow less than the 12 blade but compliment something like the smaller hx40 8blade compressor very nicely. It would be a turbo that would flow in the PTE 6076 range while being a bolton, and spool possibly MUCH faster.

dsm-onster: Thanks for the reply. At first im going to try it in the holset housing to see how it acts like it is. Ive been soaking the housing in pb for a week now, so hopefully it will come apart this weekend. Ill have to clearance the exhaust housing to make it fit because of the header that i have, but its the 16cm T3 housing with 4" outlet. It hits the block right now, but not by much. I think there is enough meat on the housing to grind a small flat spot on the back side of the housing. The compressor is the 7 blade.

I also have a wh1c that i might try out first. Its got the 12cm housing, so it clears the block. Im not sure if the wh1c is good, so thats why i bought the hx40. How many people have suscessfully used the holset exhaust housings?

Yeah like I said before that's def not a t4 but like boosted said it can be altered by the looks of it to fit

Clerance is hella close with that compressor side 44mm vband hook up, but the great Jake has run and sold these to the big dogs so I shall run it like I stole it:rocks:

Well, i got the exhaust housing off my hx40. Bad news. It looks like whatever this turbo was on lost a piston. The inducer got pretty beat up. Ill get a measurement of the exducer.

Anyone know the standard size barb fitting, for a boost source on the compressor cover?

Also what style of fitting should be used? All of the NPT barb fittings I'd seen the threaded base is twice as thick as the barb. I'd like to get one where the thread is the same diameter as the barb, so it disrupts as little airflow as possible.

That won't effect air flow I installed a basic nippl on my old GT14. Just get a drill thats like just smaller than the fitting then use lock-tite and wrench it in.

It is an 1/8 NPT. There are different varietys of 1/8 NPT barb fittings, you can go as big as the inner diameter of the threaded part, same as your brake booster fitting on intake manifold. That is too big I think, you should go one size smaller to match.

I thought i would post some pics of the carnage to my hx40 10 blade turbine. I cant seem to find my calipers to take any measurements though. Has anybody tried to use a wh1c turbine, shaft, and exhaust housing on a hx40 chra? If not, does anybody have a hookup on parts?

I have no clue what the turbine wheel diameters are, as I've never really delved into that branch of holsets before. Here's a compressor map I have. I don't know if this is the compressor map for the 64mm compressor or not:

It's a 70lb/min compressor. If you can see 20 psi by 4500 with it, it would have plenty of powerband for a stroker.

CAN bus as in the same thing that goes to pins 6 and 14 in the obd2 port on your 2g? I don't know much about obd2 at all. But does this mean there may be a way that your ecu can actuate the VGT control by fabricating a plug and play harness?
 
That's what I told him forget thagt smaller turbo stuff ROFLROFL. It is a big ass turbo but with my intake manifold and engine setup I'm not to worried about it ;)
