I don't do the tuning- you'll have to ask Ricky about that one. I'm the turbo sponsor / builder / supplier. ;)

From what I understand it's easy to tune- most of the trips down the track were tuned by nothing more than doing a couple low-speed pulls on the street the day prior- the car has never been on a dyno. In fact, I don't think he made any corrections at the track last year aside from adding a few degrees of timing.

This is gonna be sick, I am also interested in a TS setup for this.

Are the stock divided hotsides the same from a HX35 to a HX40?

Good luck to Dave that would be awesome to have both records.

From what I have gathered the HX40 uses alot of t4 TS hotsides and the HX35 uses mostly t3 twin scroll hotsides.

Shitty, I was hoping to use a HX35 and then step up to HX40 once I build a stroker.

Thanks for the info.

There are 16cm and 18cm divided T3 turbine housings for HX40s.

Engine is now in the car; just a little intercooler plumbing and some other bolt ons and this beast is ready to make smoke.

-12 AN is actually still small, Holset suggests ~19mm ID, -12AN is 19mm OD.

Once I click off a 9s pass with the Hx40 in April, I will bolt up a Hx35 to go ahead and grab that record too!;) Hopfully Justin, or someone has one to bolt on my car with the BEP T3 v-band housing.
I have been running 12 an return line for two years on both my Hx 35, and Hx40 without any issues!

I'll buy a new one if I have to (they're only around $200) and just resell it on the HX35 we use as a complete setup once we're done.

I know Ricky had one in the classifieds recently- from his AWD Spyder. You should talk him into not selling that housing for a little while longer....or selling it to me. ;)

I think Ricky said he sold every thing over the weekend, so might have to find another!
If everything goes well degreeing the cams and putting the car back together tomorrow, I should have a start up video to share!

im helping a friend get his hx40 divided setup and we are going to be using a divided non WG housing for an hx35 and boring it to fit the 40 which isnt a big deal.

but my question is what housing should i go with i have 3 to chose from

12cm
14cm
16cm
here is where we were gonna get the housing
http://www.htturbo.com/thnew.htm

he want to break into the 10s with this setup i was going to tell let try the 14cm but i dont want that to choke the turbo up top.

but since this will be on a full divided setup should we just go with the 16cm? im thinking he will see full boost by 4k easy

thanks for the suggestions!

Do it!

Since you are going with a fully divided set-up, go with the 16cm^2 housing.

The Borg Warner S200SX, (which has very similarly sized wheels when compared to a HX35) spooled a relatively stock Evo to 30psi by 3800rpm on a 1.15A/R TS T4 housing.

here's that thread. Results Fullrace TS S200SX 1.15 A/R on 2.0l mapped by Matt / the Racingline - Mitsubishi Lancer Register Forum

1.15A/R is approximately 16cm^2...
Post #6 http://www.thedieselgarage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74578

Think of it this way, if the 16cm housing is too big, try the 14cm housing...

good info Chris im thinking 16 cm2 as well i think it will still spool great since its a divided setup. im actually planing to do the same thing with my hx35 i have a divided JMF mani on the way and plan to pick up the 14 or 16 cm2 housing to go with it.

I'd go with the 16cm2 housing, especially with the hx40, which usually uses turbine housings with a much larger divided t4 footprint. The 16cm2 housing is also $60 cheaper than the 14cm2 housing, which seems to be the desired size for the Cummins crowd, if you get it from these guys: Gillett Diesel. They also have great customer service :thumb:

thanks man you rock!

Does anyone make a vband downpipe that will connect to the stock holset o2 housing?

I designed a v-band downpipe for the HX35 that I was going to use.

That's a non-wastegated 12cm^2 HX35 turbine housing I planned to use.

Here's a pic of how well the v-band fit the housing.

Here's where I got the v-band flanges and clamp.

V Band Clamp

I called these guys tube bending, pipe bending, tube bending fabrication, exhaust tube bending, pipe bending fabrication, bent elbows,Woolf Aircraft Products and asked them if they had the following:

2.75" OD x .065" Wall 120* Mandrel Bend Stainless Steel Pipe, and they had it.

Ended up selling that entire kit.

Does anyone know if this flange will work to bolt up to the stock exhaust side of a 12cm twin scroll housing or does it need to be the one that they sell on ebay.
Ebay Flange 1st and ATP Turbo 2nd

what size banjo bolt does an hx35 take for the oil feed?

I think its 12mmx1.25 but want to be sure.

Its been quiet around here lately. I'm thinking about getting into the holset game later this year hopefully prices will stop increasing.
