Bigger compressor wheel, smaller turbine wheel, smaller non-divided turbine housing on the HE351. Not exactly sure how that would compare in terms of spool- you should be the first to let us know!

Well my car see's 25psi by 4400-4500 rpm with my HE351cw off an 04 cummins, however this is a little slow due to my car being at 7200 ft elevation most of the time. However with only 24 psi and street tires, the car ran 12.48 at 110mph in Denver, CO the density altitude that day was 8400 ft LOL far from ideal conditions. Hope this helps a little. O and the car made 400.2hp and 415 tq with 100 octane gas

Wow that's disappointing to hear, that's like 1000 rpm slower than the hx35.I might go back to hx35 route then. turboboy4 just wondering did you mange to use the stock flange and fitted a 4" downpipe? 400 hp at 24psi is not bad my old 50 trim made only 320hp at 24 psi and see that at 4500 rpm too.
Do people really make full boost at 3500 rpm on hx35,that's even better than that turbo up top?

You have to remember that 20psi at 3500rpm is also on the .55 A/R dsm housing not the .70 A/R t3. Also you have to remember that I am at super high elevation and I really think that slows my spool time down, you will probably see better spool time. Just a quick fact measure that vband on the exhaust housing because I am pretty sure it is actually 3.75" inches not 4". I made that mistake and now I have an exhaust leak at my vband. And yes I used the stock t3 holset housing with an erl manifold and I made a O2 housing by using a 4" vband and a short bell shaped piece of pipe that reduced it to 3" and it runs into my 3" downpipe. Now I didnt relocate my altenator so it is tight, if you relocated it, it would make it much easier to build with the extra room.

I was going to sell my HX40 but I think I want to use it on a different project. I'm not sure which hot sie would be best though. I'd like to make about 600hp with it so I was hoping to use the BEP .70 a/r hot side. My problem is that the engine is a 5 cylinder so the collector into a T3 will be a PITA. Also I don't want to use a twin scroll with non twin scroll manifold (which isn't possible due the the odd # of cylinders) Any sugestions?

There are twinscroll holsets with better looking maps doing better with spool. So what's with the copy/paste ??? :)
Like I said, I hope it was a good move.
I'm just looking for 500/500 to the ground for road racing.
I'm sure you've seen the T3 HX35 twin scroll kit I sold.
It was all ready to go.
All I needed was a Manifold and O2 Eliminator DP from JMF and I'd be good, probably the last set-up I would have bought.

This turbo is paid for with the sale of the HX35 and the twin scroll kit, so I didn't lose a dime on the transaction.

Anyway, I already said why I went this way anyway...

Is my previous post to your liking now?

Perhaps the volvo 5 cylinder guys have built 5 runner manifolds before.
Maybe look there?
I don't think it would be too hard to come up with concepts using solid works or something equivalent.

You should be good. I've never used a holset turbo. But I've always been a fan of Borg Warner. A lot of people underestimate Borg Warner.

Borg Warner T4 Twin Scroll S200SX.

Man, I think that is totally and absolutely cool.
Is the BW part number for that whole turbo #178034 ?
I asked Kurt Henderson for pics of that turbo not too long ago and he didn't have any pics! Yours are the first pics I've seen.
All brand new and lookin good. Nice!

I don't know how much we want to get into it in this thread, but sometime I'd like to get a rough measurement across the outside of the compressor cover from you - outside diameter basically.

I do not know the actual part number for this turbo.
According to BW its - 177268
PM your questions anytime.
I should have it by this Thursday.

Strm Trpr, I was just poking :) . . . Perhaps more smilies were in order.

My H1C (baby) with an H1E compressor cover and wheel with a 16^2cm TS T3 Non-wastegated Turbine housing.

Not sure if you guys can make out the 16 on the turbine housing or not but it is there.

I can't remember. Do you have the 58mm 8blade h1e compressor wheel, or the 60mm 8blade.

I definitely do not have the best quality of tool but it works ok i guess. Wasn't quiet sure where i was suppose to measure from so i took more than one measurement :coy: LOL

The second pic is what I was asking. The minor diameter of the compressor, the compressor inducer. . .

But that is showing a little less than 2.14inches. That equals 54mm. Which is the compressor inducer diameter of the big h1c, NOT the 8blade h1e. That meter is relatively accurate, bacause the 8blade h1e AND the 54mm big h1c compressor major diameter, or exducer (the top pic), measures out to close to 82mm which is right on par with my big h1c and wh1e I have right here on my cars.

To add. . . your compressor inlet doesnt appear to have surge porting all the way through to the compressor blades, but DOES have the webbing. The big 54mm h1c is the only holset compressor I know of like this. The 58mm h1e compressor cover has a cut groove allthe way through to the blades.

So you must have swapped in the big h1c compressor wheel. Which is still a HUGE upgrade to the 50mm (small) h1c or 45mm (baby) h1c. The 54mm h1c flows more air than a 20g per the map that I have, and comparing inducers to the 20g it is about 1mm larger. The small h1c can't flow much more than an evo3 16g, and the baby h1c probably less than a small 16g. Still a MUCH better turbo than what you originally started out with; just don't want you to be flustered by not getting hx40 power out of it.

Ezz-e, great results!!!! At only 26psi and with pump 93 no less. Using the little 56mm hx40 compressor too. I like seeing the 56mm hx40 being tried out. I have my reasons to believe that the 56mm 6blade hx40 flows as much air as the 58mm 8blade hx40/h1e. Yours is billet correct? (not that it really affects much of anything) . . .And what's the spool like with that apparently long tube header with the .70 a/r bep housing?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but for those of you who are running the Bullseye bolt-on housing with an external wastegate, did you port out the wastegate hole? Anybody having any boost control issues with ported or non-ported?

Thanks!

Yes mines is billet wheel. I also modified the inside of the compressor housing lightly. Im seeing full boost at 4300rpm. my red-line is set to 8000rpm.

I have been trying to get to the source of a boost leak on the compressor housing hopefully this will up the power.

my plans are to go back to the dyno and make 500 by adding some timing into the power and getting the spool to hit faster.

500hp on pump should be fun.

I have a bep .55 mitsu housing on my hx-35 non ported with a punishment tubular recirc 02 with a 38mm tial and 20lb spring. I use a turbo xs boost controller and the only issue I have had is that I can't get past 23 psi. I have no spike or creep issues at all at this current level. I honestly think my boost controller just wont cut it anymore. its over 4 years old and I think its time for a new one.

That's the exact setup that I will be running when I get everything buttoned up!
I guess I won't worry about doing any porting and just run it as is.
Thanks for the info!

im using the same 56mm hx40 billet wheel , hope to see 500 on pump too
bt im on a hx35 turbine wheel n a fp turbine housing
hope to see some results soon

When I was on the hx40 I was seeing 35psi maybe a bit more just fine. Never touched the housing.

Hey guys I Dont have any new pics of the set up but just wanted to post a log for you to check out. If v3 is right wiith being close with its power numbers and 70-90mph times I can't wait to see what this does when I turn up the boost. Although when summer comes I wont have my 20* intake temps and I'm sure I wont be doing this on pump gas as heat and humidity takes it toll.

If this should be more in the results section or engine tuning section sorry.

Send me a PM once you are ready to separate from that HX35. I think I want to come back to holset again, I don't know if the 16G will keep me happy.
