so the stock 12^cm housing and a T3 manifold would provide better top end power over the mitsu flange header and the small BEP housing? what about the large BEP housing?

I'm about to put a 6 blade HX-40 on my car with the .55 bep housing. I have 3 questions.
1. Will the stock exhaust manifold work with the bep housing or will i need a spacer?
2. How do you recommend connecting to the compressor housing outlet? If you know the correct V-band size that would be great.
3. What is the thread count and size of the adapter i will need to attach my oil feed line to the turbo?

thanks guys.

Well, I got the hx35 8 blade on, was really cake. But I am very sad to say my spool sucks. 18-20 psi by 5k and nothing until then. It really sucks. I think the welder didn't make the arm long enough to keep pressure on the internal flapper but i fixed it. I will throw a log up via dsmlink and see what I can come up with. There are no boost leaks and the 4 layer exhaust gasket is on good. and all my turbo bolts are nice and tight with the stainless steel gasket.

Does any one no a good place to send the holset turbos to get rebuilt for some reason mines began to leak oil threw the exhaust housing last night while i was tuning it. not really sure why but it mostly happen when i was past 4k rpm.

DSMmonster it seems they use the 6 blade pro wheel im going to give them i call and see what they say on monday. if so i most likely will be going this rout with my H1E setup on my 2g. I once saw a H1e on ebay which was listed as a H1E compressor housing with a H1C turbine wheel in a 18cm housing. was supposedly rated to spool under 4k rpm and make 700+ Hp.

95burgandyesi - something definitely isn't right, *especially* if you're using a bolt-on turbine housing.

ezz-e - any diesel performance shops should be able to rebuild for you, htturbo.com, citydiesel.net, I'm lucky to have a local Holset specialist shop I guess, tepturbos.com - you may give them a call as well, their prices are good. Where are you pulling oil from for the turbo? Running a restrictor? I know at least 2 locals who pulled oil from the filter housing and had smoking problems, too much pressure I think. I pulled mine from the head with no restrictor(no balance shafts on my 6-bolt either) and didn't have any smoking til the turbo blew from a giant boost leak.

Send him a PM. He rebuilds them for a living.

So i bought a hx35. Everybody is out of bep housings. So I have a few questions. If i make a manifold thats divided for the stock 12cm^2 housing would it spool as fast as the bep one. Also I have a mitsu flanged housing that i could just put a t3 flange on. Slower spool but the mani is made and would be super easy to retro fit.

Pretty much just wondering if anyone has put a divided manifold on the stock t3 housing and what kind of spool they would see.

The bep housing is $250+ so if i made a manifold it would be super cheap and make more peak hp. Just wondering if all the time fabricating would be worth it. Not that this turbo would be that hard. I just put a holset vgt on my other car and that was WAY harder than this would be.

This is going on a fwd auto 91 laser BTW.

TimG went 132mph with the hx35 turbine wheel with the stock t3 housing and a t-netics manifold. Your setup with an adapter will flow close to the same, maybe a little less. Still plenty of turbine flow in my opinion. Full song at about 4100rpms is not bad for a turbo that flows 52ishlb min. If you have the 7blade compressor, your turbine setup will be plenty for the 57lb/min that compressor can flow.

1. My HX40 went on no problems and no spacer
2. 2.5 v-band I would think a 2 1/4 would work better but not sure if you can get them in
that size?

I built a t3 divided manifold for my H1E (I think its on page 3) i've had a few problems with my install not to mention my hood flying up on me. But anyway it spooled quick somewhere around 3.5k. I didn't log it because it was just a test drive around the block. I will hopefully have something by this weekend, my buddy wants to race me at thwe drageway next weekend so I need to get thrashing. I will post something soon.

That was with an h1e or with the h1c? The h1e has an hx40 turbine wheel. I've never seen a t3 flanged h1e.

EDIT: I see in thread 3 that you have the 16cm^2 t3 turbine housing :thumb: 3500rpms spool speed with an hx40 turbine wheel and a 16cm^2 turbine housing! Gotta love twinscroll tech. Each volute of your turbine housing is as large as a bolton volute OMG

Dsm-onster: Thanks for all the suggestions and the super fast reply! Unfortunately I dont have a top mount manifold. Its a bottom mount(?) undivided t3 shearer manifold. Im gonna have to stay away from any adapter flanges due to the super low turbo position. I already had to grind the mount for my 30r's return fitting...

What is the spool and top characteristics of a standard HX35 vs. 35/40 hybrid vs. HX40. Most likely I would opt for the bep .70 housing.

Ok so I have a line on an H1C the assy number (assy3531456) came back as the big H1C when I read the holset part number thread. The only thing is it mentioned having the webbing but no groove.

as far as i can tell this one has the webbing and a groove or am I just thinking to hard on this.

Its pulling oil from the oil filter housing. I have no balance shafts. Im using a 2g oil filter housing restrictor. Im going to try to port the oil filter housing and getting a feed from the head and placing a n2o jet as a restrictor. i notice most of the oil poors out when i rev it up. Should i order a rebuild kit for the turbo i hear it is easy to rebuild a holset?

jusmx141 I have pm you before but have never gotten a reply from you, please pm me im looking to get this turbo rebuilt.

Spring is almost here and i want to start contributing some info to the holset community on how this H1C 21cm housing will spool on a stock 2.0 with a divided manifold.

I apologize- it could've easily been overlooked. I try not to let that happen, but I get anywhere from 6 to 15 new PM's per day....I try to respond to every one, but I'm only one man working basically two full-time jobs. Answering a constant barrage of tech questions and rebuild inquiries on here is full-time job #3, but in order for me to have full-time job #2, I must answer every question possible! :p

Jus PM when you have the chance i wana see what i can do with this h1c and the h1e i have

Airmail, you can't see the actual groove cut through the webbing in that pic. Just the webbing. If it has a 54mm inducer diameter, it is the big h1c.

Ezz-e, that compressor inlet looks different from other hx40 inlets I'm used to seeing. Looks better, bellmouthed. If it's real, it's the 58mm piece. With a 16cm^2 or 14cm^2 t3 turbine housing. Good upgrade for your current setup as this turbo with the bolton housing has just trapped a 580whp speed with more left in the tune and setup.
