On the HX52 turbine flange, the bolt holes are vertically spaced identically to the T4, but are horizontally too far by 3mm. All you need to do for it to work is re drill the holes 3mm closer and it will bolt right up. Flange dimensions are also the same.

Can you post some pics of your hx52 than with the drilled out wholes so we can see what it looks like because the pictures above are DEF not the same maybe similar but not the same.

I wouldn't use anything but a topmount manifold for the HX52. It gives much more options for exhaust and pipe routing. Not to mention a decent bracing solution. I was sold on the scheer top mount but now I'm looking at the JMF top mount. Either way I'm going to run the H1E on a DNP T4 manifold with a 44mm Tial. I'm wanting to get a Tial 50mm BOV for the HX52. I was actually surprised at the size of the inducer on the compressor. It looks very large but 66mm isn't really all that hugh.

Looking at the pics of the TH's I think I might have to post up another pic of them Horiz. The HX52 TH is about 1/2" higher than the T4 TH do to it's exhaust flange. It doesn't look like it though it the picture.

Can any of you tell what inducer size this turbo is or what size hotside housing it has? It's an h1e with 8 compressor blades but that's about all I can tell from the pictures.

This turbo is a farm tractor holset, don't have specs on it though. Would like to let all know that I got a 6blade hx40w shipped to the crib for 185 :thumb:. I'll take pics when it gets in. The company is the Goldfarb & Associates company out of Fredrick MD.

I forgot to mention before, but I have 8blade/60mm inducer H1E. So sometimes you can find 8blade and still be a 60mm inducer. On the Holset turbos3 on a pages betweeen 20-23, I have a picture of it.

And Maglin, thanks for the pictures and info. BTW how big is the comp. cover??? Would it fit in a normal car with stock radiator between WP, radiator and motor mount?
Thanks again.

That thing is massive next to an HX40 even. I'm pretty sure it could swallow the tiny t25 that started out on the car. I like it!

Anyone know the part number for a 6 blade hx40?

Is anyone elses HX52 compressor wheel made of billet? Mine is for some reason, not sure why.

Anyways, today my exhaust manifold comes today finally so I can post up pics.

Here it is mounted on my my friends t4 top mount for a honda.

It ranges... I would just tell you to go to Goldfarb and just check there inventory or give them a call. They were really good over the phone. Not turbo experts but will be honest on the condition of it. Hell for 185 on a potential beast you can't really go wrong.

The hx52 wheel diameters are between the largest gt40 wheel and the common gt42 wheel. I doubt it. A t4 turbine housing or the stock holset housing is probably a must.

This isn't a vendor review but I just wanted to put it out there that I talked with Jake H the builder of that bad ass manifold with the gt42r attached and stand up dsmer is all I have to say. Like I said I was looking for a manifold and most were to high for my pockets right now while I still wanted something good. I hit him up before he sold the last manifold at his sale price but he had already had people that sent him the money and I was pretty much beat. Because I hit him up before it ended he said he would honor the sale price. Now I don't know about you but if it was FP or SBR or somebody my ass would have been SOL.

Anyway So i'm scrapping the t3 divided and going with a dual t4 divided JHT manifold :rocks::rocks::rocks::rocks::thumb:

I wouldn't even think of putting a HX52 wheel in a HX40 compressor cover. I think it would create way to much heat. The cover size difference is pretty substantial. If you want a HX52 just pick one up. They can be had pretty cheap. I'm thinking of either getting another one or useing mine on a Built 350 sbc that I've dumped over $5K into years ago that just sits in my garage. It should be good for just about 1000 HP.

Someone put a HX52 on their 5.9L dodge 12 valve and ran 60 PSI with it. It ran for I think a few months before the turbine shaft broke. I don't know the max RPM of the turbo but I'm pretty sure it was being excedded by a decent margine to run that much boost.

To those of you that purchased a used Holset, did you clean the exhaust housing/turbine up at all?

What I'm after is, what's the best way to clean off the carbon build-up? Soak it in seafoam? Diesel fuel? I picked up a couple more turbos that were changed out because of carbon buildup, even though they were low mileage.

I hit mine with a wire brush attahed to my mini air grinder. I take it easy since the grinder isn't really designed for the rotating weight nor is the brush designed for the speeds :) . But it does OK when I spray wd40 while doing this.

. . . I'd think the best way is to take the housings to a head shop and have them hot tank them like they would your head (iron or aluminum).
