I just heard and I will have to get more information.

But someone just made 602whp with an HX40 Pro in the Bolt-on Turbine housing.

As soon as I can get more information I will pass it on.

A friend of mine is purchasing the following for his 98 GST:

HX40 58mm compressor, 60mm Exhaust
BEP .70 A/R T3 Turbine Housing
Treadstone Cast T3 Manifold
Tial 38mm WG

This is all going on a 2.3 with 272 cams. Can anyone chime in with spool times and characteristics of these turbos in the T3 housing?

That will be a killer setup. There are not alot of the .70 a/r housings floating around yet. I would say he should see full spool around 3900-4200 rpms and be able to push that turbo to the limits. It will be interesting to see what he will make for power compared to the .55 a/r housings.

We are looking to maybe hit 500 on the 58mm 8-blade compressor if its possible on pump/meth or race gas. Then once we max out the compressor we are looking into the 60mm 6-blade "PRO" wheel to upgrade to when the "built" 1g head and smim goes on

Does the stck Holset divided 14cm turbine hsing flow more than the .70 a/r housings?

My old hx40 came with the 18cm^2 t4 housing...anything would be a better flowing upgrade. How does the twin-scroll housing help with spool and flow on these turbos?

Chris

Cool Now I don't have to post up that info. He sent it to me also.

I just noticed on the pic of the hx40 in the t3 housing. The housing to turbine wheel gap is large that seems wrong?

He should try one of the .70 a/r housings and see how much of a difference it will make. He already has a T3 inlet and V-band O2 housings it seems.

Thats what I hope to opt with. :thumb: I'm trying to find a new project car to throw my 2.0 eagle/ross motor into. What are the differences in the Holset twin-scroll and the bep T3. Anyone have spool times and other info on the Holset turbine housings?

Can someone tell me the differences in:
WH1C
WH1E

Is one the equivalent to an HX35 and the other an HX40? I'm going to wind up piecing a setup together. So I need to know if the housings/wheels are comparable.

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken the WH1C= HX35 and WH1E= HX40. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But I'm pretty confident with the answers.

Try dtmparts.com I've seen wheels housings etc on there.

Can you fit a 6 blade HX40 wheel in a 7 or 8 blade housing?

EDIT: Sorry for all the questions.

You will have to have the compressor cover recut to the bigger compressor wheel.

Not really. The wh1c is like the pre-1998 hx35 except for the v-band clamped compressor cover. After that the hx35 comes with a better flowing 7 blade with a larger inducer. The wh1c does come with the MWE ring unlike the h1c (of which there are 2 compressors also). The turbines are the same.

The wh1e only comes with the hx40 8 blade. You'll have to machine to compressor to accept the better 6 blade or super 40 7 blade. The turbines are the same.

Thanks Matt for the info now I know for the future instead of sounding like an idiot.

Still ,which housings flow better, an external waste gated Holset TH 14cm^2 divided ,16cm^2 divided, vs or the T3 70 A/R divided hsing by BEP on a 6 bladed HX40?

You're not really wrong either. Because, the wh1c will fit into a bep hx35 housing. And, a wh1e will fit into a bep hx40 housing. The turbines are the same. And for many, the differences between the compressors are negledgable.

But for those who want the most :) from their hx35 after spending the money and time will get the newer compressor design. And those wanting to push the hx40/h1e turbine will certainly look for more compressor than what the wh1e provides.

No one knows. . . You'll have to test it out. Holset housing almost forces one to run a better o2 housing design. . . That DOES count for something . . .at the hx35 flow level. Who knows? Only a log will tell.
