Correct. Thats what I'm shooting for. Aside from ARPs, the motor is stock. I am running the Holset with the BEP housing and internal gate.

Fuel wise I have a Walbro 255HP, Aeromotive AFPR, and I'll have DSMLink and injectors upon installation. 850s should be plenty enough to support my goals ~400-430awhp.

I'm debating getting logs with a ported 2G exhaust manifold then switching to the FP manifold for comparison.

I'll be running this setup on the stock 7 bolt until I finish my stroker project. Oddly enough I'm not in a hurry with the stroker. I'd like to put down some good numbers on the 7 bolt, make a few passes with it, then knock the boost down a tad and drive it around.

I only say that because I over ran my 650's on my e16g at 25psi and switched up to 1000's in anticipaction of my H1E. And that was on pump gas with W/I.

Ceedawg, I totally agree that the 12, 14, 16, 18, 22 cm^2 numbers scare dsm guys, but do NOT equate to MHI numbers. I think that info hits the nail on the head. I like the BEP housings for ease of installation and the fact that you end up paying less in the end. But of course for the sake of efficiency. I do want to run a twin scroll someday. I am keeping my 18cm^2 holset TS turbine housing. . . Well, maybe I'll look for a 14cm^2 housing ;) .

That's why in the Turbo Education Thread sticky it is mentioned not to use one a/r figure for one brand/style turbine housing to forecast the results of another brand/style with the same number.

Great info!

Went to the dyno today 417hp and 398 ftlbs at 27psi. Mods are in profile, I had about 5 counts of knock and I didn't let off because mainly I don't care if the motor blows. It was running about 10.7:1 afr with moderate amount of timing. So I honestly think at that boost level I need to put some 110 in to make the knock go away

Dyno sheet flew out the top of the convertable on the way home or I would post it.
I'll assume thats at the wheels? Nice:thumb:
What turbine hsing r u using?

:thumb: I think I will try to get both the 16 and 18^cm2 hsings and try them both out. You did educate me about this one for sure!:thumb: If either one wrks to my liking iI'll sell the 14^cm2 to any of you guys that need it. Remember it's been modded to wrk with the HX40 turbine wheel.:sneaky: I was waiting to hear from Steve about the twin scroll mani's. If not I have a fabricator who will have my car and buld me a TS mani so that I won't have any bolt on issues.;)

Anyone have an 18cm^2 or 16cm^2 Holset turbine hsing they wanna give up? Preferably non waste gated but internally gated would suffice:thumb: PM me if you have any of the above, preferably an 18 cm hsing available! Thanx!

Here's a long but excellent thread about the TS from the EVO.net guys.:thumb:

By the way do you knoww off hand the specs on the GT30r compressor and turbine wheels?
FULL RACE TWIN SCROLL 30R results and data - evolutionm.net

FOUND!: various GT30R specs (He pm'd me and said he is using the 3076R(GT30R) and he gave me the specs which r near the bottom of this post)...

Ray Hall Turbocharging - Garrett GT series twin ball bearing turbocharges

I was comparing my holset measurements with the 550 and 600 hp GT30R specs just out of curiousity. Of course I know there are several variables involved since this is also a BB turbo.

Matt I'm also thinking that if the HX40 uses a smaller turbine wheel than the GT30R(3076r) ,the 16cm^2 hsing maybe the ticket while the 35's use the 14cm^2 housing as a perfect upgrade. Or even the T3 A/R .70 or even .78 divided housing. The 18cm^2 would be good as well but a lil laggier.

Specs for the GT30r(3076r):
TurboByGarrett.com - Catalog

HX40 turbine wheel maybe bigger though.

There is a kid with a 1.8L Civic who has a vid with him running low 11's at over 130mph with a 6 bladed HX40 and a 16cm^2 hsing. No TS though. full boost at 4800 rpm's. This was the idiot that tried to sell me the blown turbo I had to send him back.

Honda-Tech.com: Drag Racing: ran the holset powerd koop tonight

Car weighs about 2600lbs,There are also pics of the turb on his car.

So what I am reading is that the 14cm holset housing would most likely be about the same size as the newer .70 a/r housing.

Am I reading this correct??

According to the info I received it's possible if you r talking about a divided .70 A/R housing.

I took out my E16g today and started to setup my H1E and started building my manifold....
box of bends, flange's and me standing going were do I start??:nono: Hopefully I will have this done in a week. I had to take out my AC fan and I think i'm going to have to loose the other one too.

I should be able to get some numbers on my HX40 Pro setup within the next 3 weeks if everything works out. I'm pretty stoked about it. Waiting on a few parts from FP and MAP.

Got a question, want to know how many of you have added a external oil cooler since switching over to the oil cooled Holsets. I have been thinking about this while fabing up mine.
I did when I installed my oil cooled Garrett.

Why?

Well my concern is that now the oil is going to be taking that much more of the heat out system. Even this winter after hard 3rd gear tunning pulls my oil was thinning out and oil pressure was droping down at idle dangerously low on my E16g. My concern I guess is over cooking the oil this summer. I ordered a external oil filter housing from MACHV the other day. Just wanted to know if anybody else had any thoughts on this.

I've had no problems. I'm also feeding my Garrett from the head where many claim the oil pressure is very low. I have had no problems with my external oil cooler setup and where my turbo receives the oil for 4 yrs now. When I install the holset I will feed it from the oil pump with a restrictor inline. Oil thinning out and low oil pressure is not a problem in these motors especially with the addition of an External oilcooler setup different or similar to what the 1990 1st gen GSX's had.
I was beating the life out of my car in late Sept early Oct doing several 140+ mph runs(20psi boost) WOT and not a glitch with my oil pressure. I only had heat soak issues because the day was also very humid (Temp in the 80's to high 80's believe it or not). Now I will be putting in an even bigger Spearco intercooler and cool air forced ram induction feeding the turbo inlet as well to deal with the heat soak issues.

I kind of have a similar setup with the FMIC ducted to the radiator and the hood vented and a NACA duct for the fresh air.

I just went alittle overboard. The DIY project looks good.
Wow pretty radical! Must of been alot of wrk for that master piece composite tube.:thumb:

I like mine because the air is cold and being more so forced in as opposed to the nice cold air idea you have.

I think my Holset HX40 will love the ram air immensely!:sneaky:

I would like to find a way to vent the hot air out. I'm gonna use a side NACA Duct from a RX7 TT and have it molded into my hood. By the way ,where did u find those nice hood locks?

I found a good deal on a wh1e (There's actually 9 available if anyone is interested). I've looked throught the holset pages for a while now, but I'm wondering if anyone has found which part number or series of the h1e's will work for the bolt-on housings? If anyone can tell, the part number of the one I'm looking at is 3535870. Thanks

All wh1e/h1e turbine wheels are the same as the hx40 turbine wheels. And all wh1e/h1e turbine sides have the same bolt pattern as hx40 turbine sides. So the hx40 BEP housing will match.

Matt that is wrong. Their are several turbine wheels on the H1E's. I happen to have one that is not the same size as the HX40. It was the reason I bought a HX35. Now I'll just have to use the H1E for my turbo truck project.

:D Yep Matt can give you some very good info sometimes. But when he gives to much WATCH OUT!!!WTF :D Get's expensive!!!:shhh:

Thanx for the edit. I just pulled my wh1e turbine housing and tripple-checked the wheel. This wh1e has assembly number 3535870 (same number). It has the 2.51" minor dia 2.99 major dia hx40 wheel that bep footprints.

3535970 is the assembly number for the wh1e on the volvo d7a: a bus, I think???

Yep tried using the 19cm housing from my HX40 on the H1E turbo on my dad's International combine with an 8.3 cummins and the turbine wheel was too large to fit.
