Thank you guys for the info; and matt, yes these are the one's I'm talking about. I didn't want everyone else to pick one up before I had a chance to :). I was reading that link you posted and noticed at the end that he had a hard time getting it to fit correctly. Does anyone know if the bolt pattern would be the same, or if not, a machine shop could fit the h1e into a hx-40 turbine housing for sure? I want to make sure befoer I go this route!

Thanks

In the last post, another guy is talking about running a garrett b cover sized housing. He was looking at an hx30. My h1c fits in my hx35 turbine housing just fine. My wh1e has an identical bolt pattern and cartidge dimensions as my h1c. The turbine wheel foot prints between the hx40 and this wh1e are identical. It will work.

This is a Ford Sierra demonstrating what a full twinscroll mani and turbine hsing H1E setup can do. Key here also is to notice and listen to the throttle response of the car. Especially at the very end of the video when the guy drives on the road sorta normally while shifting gears. :D There is almost very minimal lag. This is really just a testament as to how really well the full TS setup works on the HX40,35,and the H1E turbo.

Well If anyone wants an h1e turbo, compareable to the hx-40, I offered this guy on ebay 275 and he sold it to me-BRAND NEW!!! Search for new h1e holset. Needless to say, I'm excited. So can I use the wastegae actuator off of this turbo, and be set?

I asked the seller the sizes of the wheel and he sent me this:

Comp 58mm
Exhaust 65mm

Most of those actuators are pretty high pressure. I tested the one that came with my HX40 and it didn't start to open till 25lbs.

If you run the holset housing and a divided runner manifold, I'd run dual external gates. TiAL 38mm is fine. No chance of "cross contamination". Especially at points where the wastegate just begins to open.
That would be expensive. However you don't think a manifold like this with a single 38mm waste gate would not work?

Will some of the exhaust charge spit across the divider? How much? A few questions I wouldn't really want to deal with. If we're going for divided, two gates would guarantee it.

I know of shops and successful teams running a single gated twin scroll. But, there are two camps. Shops like Full Race go twin WG. And their twinscroll kits seam very successful.

But, I'm willing to be convinced that a single gate won't possibly hurt performance :) . . . Did that Cosworth have a single or twin gates?

Well, all that's available for the bolt-on's that I find are for mitsu housings, which I would like for now; and later, when I get really crazy, I'll find a t3 somewhere. I have a buddy that used a stock 14b actuator and fabbed up the mounting points for it, he's ran up to 22 pounds with no boost creep (that I know of).

I'm becoming really broke really quick, but I don't want to skimp out on anything. Ahhh, the life of a dsm'er...

Not sure whether the Cosworth had dula gates or not but two wastegates is pretty expensive even though it would be a better setup.

If the single gate will wrk successfully with separate tubes leaving from the collectors I'm willing to give this a go due the economics.:thumb:
Price on two 44mm tial wastegates = 349.00 x 2= 698.00 whopping dollars +tax NOPE!!!

Wow! I don't think there is any reason to have 2 44mm gates. I would think that splitting the pulses would mean less neccesary diameter because lb/min flow is much less for each runner pair than for all 4 into 1. Two 38mm have 50% more flow area than a single 44 which is PLENTY for a non divided runner gt30/35.

I've seen 38mm gates $150 cheaper than 44mm gates. $199 from FP. Total: $400.

Picked up another VGT turbo. This one is for my dad to experiment with on his 8.3 cummins. It uses a brake air based actuator. HE431VTI is what is on the tag. The compressor is the same dimensions as my HE351VE with a larger turbine wheel.

Looks nearly new, no shaftplay. Not bad for $200 buy it now.

Since I'm in the middle of building a TS manifold I did'nt really think about this. I was either going to do a 2-1 WG, or even thinking of just running the the feed just off of one side is that what your talking about? Do you think I would be able to bleed enough pressure off just from one side?

I've never seena wastegate just run off of one side. If you ran a large gate for insurance, I suppose it could be possible. I was thinking about using my wastegated h1e housing (it's internally gated on one scroll) by porting the hole to a much larger size and running a large gate off of it. . . I don't know what the results would be.

EDIT: Well, I do know the VE will be lopsided favoring the gated cylinders heavily. This will lead to a lean condition in those cylinders and a rich condition in the others. Because the ecu doesn't have a massflow meter for each cylinder.

So how about just putting the wastegate on the O2 housing, is'nt that a good option when using a TS manifold?

Thanks thats what I wanted to know. I have a TAIL 44 that I will be using. Just have to do the 2-1 setup.

I was planning on running my h1e with a fabbed-up 16g actuator, I have a friend who did this and has worked great for him. Is this something I shouldn't do then? I'm getting a mitsu-style housing, not a divided t-3. Thanks.
