Well, as I stated. . . The h1c or hx35 in the bep housing with a 2g or evo3 exhaust mani and stock intake mani with big cams is still very streetable in an automatic. Considering spool speed is VERY close to a small 16g and at least as quick as an evo3 16g.
 
At what RPM are you HX-40 guys seeing set boost? I run a HX-40 with the pro wheel and I dont see 27 PSI untill around 5500 RPM. Wheel/cartridge problem maybe?

This is with 6bolt swap, 1mm valves,272 cams, FP mani, JMF mani, 2.5-3" exhaust

First off read the thread a page or 2 back and you will see what some of us have posted for spool times.
Also there are too many variables that will affect the spool, what turbine housing are you running? what gear are you doing this in?
I make 20 psi in 4TH by 4400-4500 so im guessing 27 psi would be around high 4000's. Also i am running a t-3 .70 a/r turbine housing so it is more laggy then the bolt on.
 
The 6 bolt stock compression, JMF SMIM, and the 272s could account for the slower spool if you're using the BEP housing. This increase in spool time would be more with the T3 .70 housing.
 
Well, my buddy dyno'ed his car today that I've been talking about. He got 545whp out of a bolt-on hx-35 with 272's magnus intake 3" tb, external gate, 3" exhaustout the side, air-water intercooler with ice box, (I think) 75 shot of nitrous, could have been a 50, AEM EMS, 1g big rods, weisco pistons. He was running 30psi when he did this run on a 1g fwd dsm. Rock on...
 
Was this with the BEP housing? I didn't see you post that up. Which exhaust manifold was he using too? I'm seeing 31 lbs/min at 20psi and 5200rpms before 1g maf overrun. Versus my small 16g, I plan on seeing 40ish lbs/min with the same setup (the same VE curve) once I get her back together. But I have a stock 1g exhaust manifold and a longer exhaust pipe.

When I had the bolt-on bep housing I was seeing 22-23 psi in 3 gear at around 4450-4500rpm. In fourth probably i've seen same boost at around 4K. Check your turbo, if everything OK, may be is your exhaust/ 2.5-3"/. The discharge side of BEP bolt-on turbine housing is bigger than 2.5". Don't remember by how much, but is definitely bigger. Turbine wheel exducer is little over 2.5" too/ if I am not mistaken /.
DSM-onster knows everything about it. Ask him. You may be choking exhaust flow with 2.5" piping.
 
I definately had to open up my ebay 2.5" tubular o2 housing to match my hx35/h1c BEP bolt-on housing. But, the hx35/h1c turbine wheel exducer is 2.36". The hx40/h1e turbine wheel exducer is 2.48".
 
I've been running this setup for a little more than a month.The car looked similar to that before, but with a FP race mani, BEP bolt-on and Evo3 O2 housing and 720cc, instead of 1000's.
Didn't have to dent the water pipe, even though I did, with ERL manifold. It puts the turbo so far away.
It runs mint. Can't wait to put it on a dyno. Hopefully next month.
I am going to try to post a log, but I am having coputer related problems. I'll try to get it fixed and post a log later on.
 
Don't know if you guys noticed, buy GVautosport finally posted their divided T3 manifold group buy in the vendor announcement section. This could definitely benefit the Holset crowd with the twin scroll housings. I did a test fitment and there's plenty of block and waterpipe clearance using a Holset hotside. Here are some pics.

Sorry I missed the previous posts but I read though PART 1, and some in PART 2, then found PART 3 and figured I'd ask

3rd gear, Mitsu housing, .70 A/R... I took the turbo off today and found that the exhaust housing is cracked, chipped and broken inside...... Who else offers exhaust housings with the mitsu flange for these besides bullseye? <-- By the way I did search the forums for this answer and came up with nothing...

Nick, the Mitsu bolt-on housing is .55. The .70 housing is a T3. You could swap to that but you'd have to get a new manifold and o2 housing. Bullseye is the only company that offers a bolt-on housing for the HX40, Carl can get you a new one. I think the latest batch for the HX40 is stainless like the ones for the Borg Warners now so it should hold up better.
 
Ha, I just thought of what it said on the compressor housing @2:30-3am, Thanks steve, I just checked them out. I think I'll spring for the new SS housing, I'll give carl a call tommorrow
 
so can i hit 500hp on a hx40 all boost on pump/meth combo???? i will still have a stock intake manifold tho...

here will be the mod list whenever i have time to throw my mods in...

Shouldn't be worried about the stock crank, it has made way more than 500hp. I am putting together an extremely similar setup. And I'm looking to hit the same numbers. I'll be interested to see what you end up with.
