timg i noticed that you had some sort of custom waterpipe behind the turbo. am i even going to beable to fit a stock water pipe? also what kind of fans do you guys recomend? i have some money saved up in the bank to get everything needed to run this turbo. i just want all the parts around so i can get the job done in 1 day. ya know what i mean?

thanks again
david

from looking at a few pics from the first thread i think i can make a stock fan work. the only thing i dont like is the FACT no one with pictures was using a fluidine radiator which is alot thicker then a stock radiator. i have like 2" between my 20g and my stock radiator fan so hopefully i can find a way to make this work...

I would almost put money on it that you will need the slim line fan

Anybody know what Holset I have talked about in my previous post? Thanks, Keith.

Yeah the blades have been fixed since that picture and the hot side has been cleaned and repainted for now. I am working on polishing the compressor housing. The turbo looks nothing like the pictures now. Any more help on what it is though would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks again dsm-onster, Keith.

Well, you know what compressor you have. You said that the blades have been fixed. . . Hx35s have larger turbo shafts than hx40s. So you turbo repairer likely knows what turbo that is.

None of my searching turned up much. I have a feeling that hotside will work with a couple different turbos, which is why its not easy to track down. The numbers off the hotside aren't as helpful. I'm suprised there isn't something cast into the center section, there was on my 40 in fairly large numbers.

The only things I found was the thread below, and a place selling that hotside without any information about what it went to.

You could try calling them and see if they could tell you what it fits.
(888) 291-7797 is what they have listed at the bottom of the page.

If that doesn't work you really need to measure the compressor wheel.

Guys arn't there pics in this thread and/or the other w/ BEP equipped holsets running the stock fans? The water pipe has to be dented. . .

My ecover 60-1 fits just fine. The water pipe is much closer than the fans anyway. So just denting the fan to clear the turbo means hat the front side where the fans are will definately clear. . . I could be way off. I havn't measured a d@mn thing.

EDIT (pics from the first holset thread): Is that a stock fan? I know a BEP housing clears the driverside fan. So obviously it will clear, no?:

I kept one stock fan on the drivers side. Water pipe had to be dented a good amount. Never have had any overheating issues with the 1 stock fan even in 100+ temps, I do have it on at all times when the key is.

I see the wastegate actuator is in the way of the passenger (A/C) fan. Could it had fit w/ an external gate? I know a BEP housing turbo can accept a stock driverside fan. Unless an external gate is fabbed in the way.

The car is in pieces right now. But if I remember right the compressor outlet was in the way also.

guys i REALLY appreciate the photos. as we speak im buying the goodies for my holset HX40. the pics above really dont count for me tho because the 2g seem to have ALOT less room then the 1gs do. im expecting to have to take a grinder and shave a good portion away of the stock fan. i am determined to get it to work tho....

thanks again
david

edit: that is DEFINETLY a aftermarket raditaor fan in that pic you posted...

My friend has an HX40/35 combo with the BEP turbine housing on his 2G GSX. It fit with the stock fans/rad. It also fits quite well with his Koyo Rad and slimline fans...

Think you could snag some pictures? Internal or external gate?

Internal gate, but going to switch to an external on the O2 housing. (having issues blowing the internal gate open)

Yeah, I will try to get a pic or two tomorrow. Car has done a 12.7 @ 113mph at 5200' elevation. With about 19psi of boost on pump... just starting to wake this turbo up.

We need a mods list too. ;) Most people say the gates tends to open up around ~26psi.

Thanks Aero sallee I called the number you listed and the turbo that I have is an HX-50. Thanks again, Keith.

They used to be on sale for 699, then 799 if I remember right.

Since you looking for used, you could do a hx35/ 6 bladed 40 hybrid, you can get the upgrade from HTT if you got someones used hx35 cheap.
http://www.htturbo.com/cu.htm The Stage IV is the 60mm 6 bladed compressor.
Would this be a good look to chg my 8 bladed wheel or a waste of time. Remember I have a hx40/35 hybrid. if it's a waste I am just going to sell and buy a HX40pro!

I'm not so sure but I will be buying one of those wheel/housing combos this winter and getting it rocking for next year. The HX-35 compressor wheel is just too small.

I think I want to get the HX40 pro! I'll sell my hx40/35 if someone's interested. Too bad I never got to try it out though.:(

Uhhh.. isn't the HX40 pro the same as a HX40/35 or is the exhaust side different somehow?
