So i do have to cut it, does anyone know somewhat of how much this weakens the front bar and is more damage succeptible to crashing?

makes me wanna put like a 1- 1/2" pipe across from where the cuts are and run like that.

But ill probably just do it.

Heh sadly I can tell you that even with a cut one it seems to provide a really good amount of support. I've been in two 5 mph collisions with no damage past that bumper (cosmetic deformation in one and hood was pushed back on another).

Here's mine with the black piece cut out and then some. You're bumper support will need to be trimmed as well. I suggest a sawzall..

My gsx is about the same color as your car. This is from the old owner, it now has stock gst rims.

i couldn't stress to you enough the amount of times i asked myself should i take mine out. then when i was doing my frontmount i said lets do it!!! it looks so much nastier coming at the next persons car when they look in the rear veiw. take it out...... but i used a very shape razor and be careful dont slip and ruin your paint job!!!! good luck

i know there i dozens of pictures in the gallery of DSM's who have/have not cut out that mustache with a FMIC tucked up in there. i drove around for about 2 weeks with my FMIC and bumper mustache before i hacked it, luckily ive got a few photos stashed away to show you the differences.
your situation is alittle different than mine because im running a hahn racecraft intercooler so my piping doesn't cut back across the top of it like on the greddy. if you cut out your bumpers mustache it might expose that pipe which is a :nono: in my book.
anyway heres my car with it and without it. to cut it believe it or not i used a sharp ass butcher knife, painters tape, and a ruler. I just sat on my couch on a saturday with my bumper across my lap watching college football and checked everything twice before i started cutting. As for the crash beam a sawzall works great just be sure to wear the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) since that things fiberglass. DEFINITELY WEAR GLOVES AND A DUSK MASK!!!! you don't need fiberglass getting into your lungs man.

with the mustache...

Agree with gofer's suggestions...cut the bumper with a knife and sawzall the support.

I went a step further after removing the moustache and molded two removable sections into the top corners of the cutout to hide the little notched area that spoils the looks of the otherwise perfect opening. I don't have the best picture to show it but compare this to the photos above in the top right corner of the opening and you'll see the difference of filling in that small notched area.

Is this the OEM pearl green or is it a custom color you have?
