Well... In the process of taking my H2E apart I sheered the shaft in two. I was trying to loosen up the nut on the compressor side and I guess it just wasn't going to come off. So now I need to either buy a rebuild kit or find a shaft for it. :(

Edit: Well from looking on Google, the rebuild kit doesn't even include the shaft... Anyone who knows what I should do to get another one, please give me some input :p

The main shaft is part of the turbine wheel. Some turbo's have the compressor nut threaded on counter clockwise, you may have been tightening when you thought you were loosening.

Ehh, Kevin Call me when you get up, lets work a deal on borrowing that HX-40 ;)

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck, did you trace the source of your problem to lack of oil or was the turbo in need of a rebuild.

how "capable" is the internal wastegate on the HX35? does it need ported or should i just get a new housing? i did plan on getting a bolt-on housing but id like to stay T3 for the potential of the turbo. if i can ill just use the stock housing and wastegate.

Well it's good to know that now... The several times I asked for assistance in taking this turbo apart someone could have mentioned that before. WTF

Now I need to find a new turbine wheel, and the shaft. I was reading some dodge diesel forums and discovered some people are using the HX40 turbine housing on their HX50 turbos. I've not yet found if the turbine housing must be machined for the HX50 turbine wheel but was curious if this would be a good way to go since the HX40 and HX50 both have bolt on turbine housings.

Would it be best to use the HX40 housing and turbine wheel with the hx50 compressor housing and wheel? A little more info would be great. I'd like to know what I need to buy to get this thing back together.

I might have better luck just talking about this Holset on a completely different forum... this one is too cluttered, and very selective.

I also recall seeing a T3 Hotside but it was flanged for a mitsu o2 housing?....any body seen this before?

Would you please stop making a different post every 10 minutes. If you think of something else to say just EDIT your last post. You're cluttering up the forum with your continuous separate postings.

Yup, they make BEP housings with T3 turbo flanges with mitsu exhaust outlets they go for like $180 if you can find them. I would contact either Tim at Tims turbo's or Marty at VIP they are both great places.:thumb:

thanx man...just making sure I wasnt trippin when I seen it...I still cant find the HX40 with a billet wheel...I really really wanted to try this turbo...Guess imma have to buy a PTE 6167 T3 if I cant find one...anyone kno where to get one?

Dont worry about a billet wheel just look for 6 or 7 blade., just look on ebay. They have brand new HX40s for real cheap. But you gotta look every few days to find one.

Just get a damn HX-40. The billet wheel is not worth spending so much time looking for... I'd actually like to see ANY spool difference between the billet and non billet wheels.

The housing would definitely need to be machined to fit. The HX50 uses a larger turbine wheel.

Why would you want the HX50 compressor wheel? How much power are you going for?

Where is an HX50 bolt on housing available? I've not seen one, IMO it wouldn't make any sense at all. Way too large to work well for a bolt on housing.

I think you misunderstood... The turbine housing bolts onto the "turbo" with 6 bolts rather than a vband, on the HX40, HX50, and H2E. I didn't mean bolt on manifold. My turbo is an H2E, which is the same as the HX50, and it's easier to get parts for the HX50 than the H2E.

I was looking at using the HX40 turbine housing with the HX50 (or H2E) turbine wheel because I figured it would work a little better. I thought maybe making a H2E/HX40 hybrid would be a good combination, but then again I don't know much about turbos.

I can have the HX40 housing machined for the HX50 wheel if that were the route I would take. I might just find an HX50 turbine wheel and go with it and not modify anything.

Excellent!:thumb: thanx! Is there a parts # list that tells would help me figure out which is the 17mm T4 core? Or should i just stick with this 18cm T3. I am going with a TS mani.;)

If you figure out the assembly number that has the 17cm t4 housing, let me know. I dont think anybody is using a hx40 with a TS manifold yet, so it would be kinda hard to say which one would be better. It appears that the inlet has minimal to no change on the rest of the housing. If you find a divided t3 manifold you like, i think the 18cm housing will probably work well. If it is still a little too laggy, you also have a 16cm housing. If you find a divided t4 manifold that you like, then get a t4 housing. I think the 17cm will be better then a 19cm housing, but i dont have any experience with a TS setup to be able to compare it to a single scroll.

I wish someone would hurry up and Buy my BRANDNEW GT35R so0o i can pick up this hx40....I really hope its worth selling

Dude, seriously... Only 1 minute difference between your two posts, and you're just rambling. Cut it out, learn to compile all your messages, and questions into a single post!

And advertising, or attempting to sell your products outside of the classifieds section can get you in trouble, be careful with your wording.

My bad....I wrote a post...then once I relized I wanted to say something else it was too late...so0o I made another Post...I am sorry if I affended you...

So0o do you guys really think its worth selling my GT35R in the bolt on housing...just to switch to a HX40 in the bolt on housing?

Small update for people, I am going to try and run the HX35 with a megan T3 header and see what it does.
Also maybe a ban for the red tsi252 for cluttering the thread with crap.

I think that's a little harsh but we all know thaqt trying to sell stuff out the classifieds is against the rules. Just delete your post and start a for sale ad and you should be cool man.

Thanks to TurboDSM18 aka Kevin I got his Holset HX-40 bolted up today. Turbo absolutely screams like a jet plane and runs awesome. Looks like the HX-40 I purchased off of Ebay is a bad rebuild as there are no signs of problems with his used unit. Gotta get some tuning done and I'll let everyone know how this turbo performs~!

Geeze you guys...take it easy...I havent mention anything about selling the 35R after I was told it was not aloud....I already had a 4 sale ad...

I was simply asking If it was worth selling the 35R in the bolt on housing just to switch to another mitsu housing....I mean are the gains really gonna be worth it????
