I was having a real hard time getting the turbine housing off.
Soaked in WD-40 and PB-Blaster for days, used a hammer and pry bar, wouldn't budge.
Finally got it off tonight.

You can use the longer bolts off the turbine exit plate, to lift the CHRA out of the housing.
Keep two of the bolts almost tight so it only moves a little at a time, and won't come out crooked and bend the shaft.

Don't know if anyone posted this before, but thought it would help people having a hard time getting the housing off.

Anyone know how to get the snap ring, in front of the silencer out?

How much difference in power and spool time does a HX-40 with T3 housing over the Bullseye Mitsubishi housing have.

I mean is it worth it to switch the HX-40 with the Bullseye Mitsubishi housing I have right now to a Bullseye T3 or any other T3 housing?

Bullseye housing will have quicker spoolup time .The T3 .70AR housing will make more topend if not more all around power, but will spoolup up slower than the .55AR bullseye mitsu housing.
Depends on what you're looking for. The .55 mitsu bulleye housing makes power but also creates a tremendous amt of back pressure in comparison for obvious reasons.

If you look back in the thread you'll find even more details on that.

So what's the average spool time for the T3 .70 A/R over the Bullseye housing? And the tremendous back pressure from the Bullseye housing more likely to crack the tubular manifold?

There are a few guys here who have recently installed the .70 A/R housings but you'll have to go back and read up on it for the ans., to those questions.

If your exh temp are high enuff in the .55AR housing, sure the mani could possibly crack if you are constantly running high boost.

There is good info on all your questions in some of the BW200 and BW300 posts with guys who have done comparrisons as well.

Just read them, you will easily find the answers to your questions!!!:)

Well got the new clutch in (ACT2900) and broke it in. Time to tune!!
I find with these turbos since i have had 3 that you need to run pretty high boost to make the power you want. I am REAL happy with the power it makes at 27psi, the top end is unreal compared to the bullseye .55 housing.
The next problem was the car picking up random knock, I would get a real safe tune with 11.2 AFR and 15 degrees timing and the car would pull good and have NO knock. Then outta the blue it would knock like crazy the next pull, grrrrr.
Pull some timing out and the knock was gone, hmm then put the timing back in and still NO knock. BY this time it was getting realy annoying so my buddy hooked up his CHASSIS EAR and we went for a drive and figured out that there was no real knock. At this time i added some timing so i have 17 degrees on the top and there is no knock.
THe knock sensor is now sitting on the firewall!!! I know you guys will think well thats dumb but at this point there is no other choice. THere are tonnes of other turbo cars running no knock sensor and have no problems. I ran it lots with the chassis ear and heard no knock at all so at this point i am real happy with it.

How big and whose FMIC are you running? How are your IAT's at 27psi as well?

I have a punishment 26x8x3 FMIC, and a CAI Not to sure on the IAT since i am running the GM maf. I am also running a fair bit of meth injection. M10+M3 with a 50-50 mix.
The car has always had MAJOR problems with phantom knock. I am tuning with tuner pro and have the PK elimination and i would still get it. I could rev it up in neutral and get knock. Seems to be that once i installed the prothane mounts that it got real bad.

Turboford guys consider removing the KS the first free mod. You are monitoring knock by another means that a human brain can decipher: chassis ears. Better than the ECU in my book.

THANK YOU!!!

It's nice to get a reply where people understand whats going on. I have run acros threads before where people have removed the KS and guys just lose it and say its gonna blow up!!
I understand that its not "as safe" per say but when there and tonnes of other turbo cars out there, hondas, nissans, toyotas that tune big power without a KS then as long as i do monitor it with the chassis ears then i think im on the right road.

The car pulls REALLY hard now and i think my tune is real conservative.

I am happy so far with the t-3 upgrade, at lower boost the bottom end is kinda sauce but once you turn it up the bottom end is just as good and the top end is awsome. I hope i can get to the track soon and get some times. There are no AWD dynos around here so that is out of the question. I ran 12.2 with the EVO 3 so i hope with this i am mid 11's at this boost and low 11's at 30psi+.

I agree. My holset "loves" boost. It becomes a different animal after 25psi. Maglin and so many others say the exact same thing. This is exactly what a small displacement motor needs. A turbo that 'craves' high boost.

The main thing is that you say the car "pulls really hard" with a conservative tune. Smacks of alot of power under the curve. Mine is proving to be a monstrosity at an rpm level BEFORE my 16g; immaterial to the boost level at that point in the rpm range.

Sounds good, the next thing that i need to consider is how high to rev this thing, i have BC 272' but still on the stock valve springs. I have the rev limiter set to 8000rpm right now but this thing doesnt let up right till 8000. Im not sure if i should push it till 8200 or if i should look into so BC springs first.
All i can say is to me the "bolt on" to t-3 upgrade was worth it, there was someone earlier that asked that very question, the only thing is you need to get used to the lag but like i say its MORE then worth it.
I make 20 psi by 4400rpm in 4th so you cant really complain about that..

Wait till you see my dyno plot. My peak numbers don't drop from full boost to redline. Definitely moving some serious air. I'm just choking it up with the stock IM and TB.

Matt I know I said Friday, but I've been swamped. =P

Can't wait to see this thing run.....you better be in osooyoos on june 21-22 :) Should be a good time. Glad to see you like that t3 upgrade. I got BCsprings and BC 280 cams so I will let you know what i think of that.

See you in a couple weeks :p

Well my HX-40 blade is bented so I've decided to switch to the T3 housing while I do the rebuild.

I have a HX-40 BEP Mistubishi housing that has only seen a couple miles of boost in perfect shape up for sale. PM me is you're interested.

LOL. I was just going to post this information up. This fellow and I have been chatting through PM. This is with the SMALL BEP housing. Pretty impressive. So this answers the question of how much potential does the small housing with the hx40 have? 650whp so far. I don't think there's anyone else whose made this much power with an hx40 so far. 1993eclipseGS, has a 10sec time slip and an hx40. Theres this kind of potential if pushed: Around 9.9sec at 136mph using a hp calculator based on Patrick Hale's formulas.

I don't think I can even imagine 650whp with spoolup by 4000rpms. Seams better than a gt35r.
