The HX-35 compressor wheel is small. It's no secret. The compressor wheel's inducer can be compared to 50 trim wheel with a larger exducer wheel. These turbos LOOK big but from my understanding and compressor wheel measurements, they aren't as big as they do look. Luckily the Holset housings flow way better and the compressor wheel is easily upgradable to run with the 3065 with a better exhaust side.

Yes but which size Holset exh housing are you thinking of using on the hybrid or your HX 35 to make it perform better or just like a 3065?

The same one I'm using. The stock T-3 Holset.

I thought you'd be making more than that with that turbo at 23psi. Which I guess would depend on your mods and tune.

i think the turbo will start waking up at around 28-30lbs. im really just starting to wake this turbo up at 23psi. i did a log on link the other nitght and was only getting something like 48lbs. i really cant send much more boost at it on a stock headgasket. im actually pushing a little coolant out the cylinder head LOL. i just drive it nice unless im tuning or at the track and fill it up with coolant whenever im doing so. im also running the bullsseye housing...

please feel free to ask more questions. it might take me a couple of days but i will eventually get around to answering them...:thumb:

I recently pretty much maxed out a HX-35 on a friends car.

Built 2.0
Built Head w/272 cams
Full Supporting Mods
56.3lbs/min @ 7848rpm and 34psi on 108 unleaded.

Will be upgrading it to the HX-40 soon so see what we can get out of that.

*edit* it has full supporting mods besides the stock rubber S pipe still :D:D:D and stock intake manifold. Which is where he is probably losing the last 4-5lbs/min. Stock S pipe/TB/IM.

Excellent! do you have a log? and was this w/ a BEP housing?

Yeah I will have him email his log. Wasn't a whole lot of timing in it but when you are at that boost level you don't really worry about timing too much. Gonna tune for 35, maybe 36 this weekend.

well which hotside flows more on the hx40,the BEP hsing or the stck holset hsing?

DAMN, i bet this car was screaming...

There is the new .70 a/r turbine housing for the HX40 from BEP.

Is that actually out now? They said that they would have one like a year ago, and I haven't seen it yet. Let me know what you know, because if it is out now(or coming out soon) my .55 housing is going up for sale to pick up the .70

The .70 has been out for awhile, I have one on my S258. It's a T3 housing, not a bolt-on. Here's a pic of mine next to the bolt-on housing.

That .70 T3 hsing sure does dwarf the BEP hsing.:thumb: The BEP hsing will only make the HX40 spool up faster correct?

FYI, I was able to make 521 WHP on my evo with the BEP .55 a/r housing. It wasn't totally maxed as I was only at 28-29 PSI on the internal gate. But if you are looking to make 550+ HP then it would be probably best if you went with the .70ar housing. I will be switching to this housing with my S366 in a few weeks.

Josh, where the hell have you been all this time!:D I did'nt know you went with the S366. How do you like it?
I will consider the .70 AR hsing especially if I can get an HX-40

Where did you see full boost with the .55 on the S366?[/QUOT

Currently I am seeing 18 pounds of boost at around 4600-4700 RPM's but this is on a maxed 6-8 PSI waste gate spring. I am using this spring to break the motor in, once I put the 20 PSI spring in there, it should keep the gate closed better and with some more fine tuning I should be able to get 20 PSI by 4400-4600 RPMS. This 80 Lb/Min turbo spools as well or better than a GT35R which is only a 60 Lb/min turbo. I don't think I will lose much spool on the .70 ar housing as the configuration and true 3" out should make up for a bit of the larger volute, and it should free up some HP with the lower back pressure numbers.

Interesting, I'm real curious to see where it spools in the .70 housing. I see 30psi by about 4800 in the .70 on my S258. Carl (the guy who had the HX40pro and ran 11.0 @ 128) has the S366 now in the divided T4 housing and doesnt see full boost until around 6k.

Great numbers!!! I forget. Was this w/ an hx35 or hx40?

Wow ! 6k! Will be interesting to see what happens when Josh readjusts the wastegate. Steve, the HX40 pro Carl had saw full boost at what rpm with the BHP hsing? Never mind I found it. 30psi by 4k with the .55ar BEP hsing.
