Thanks for the advice fellas. I’ll report back the results whatever I find.

On another note I ordered a neat little thing. It’s a weatherproof and waterproof relay with a plug and pigtail so I can delete my crimped spade terminals and the relay they’re attached to. As a bonus this new relay is rated for much higher amperage too so hopefully it’ll be more resistant to spontaneous combustion. LOL . I even redid the spade terminals since the little fire and they’ve been rock solid no issues, but I’m super paranoid now. I’m uncomfortable with a sudden and random fire right next to my full tank of alcohol. On advice from others that’s why I went with the plug to just completely delete the spade terminals altogether.

I also ordered a couple more things I needed for my flex fuel sensor install. So that’s the plan later this week. I’m stoked to have this functionality. In the future I’m gonna do a full feed and return PTFE braided line upgrade and when I do I’ll upgrade at the same time to the fancy motion raceworks ethanol sensor adapter. But yeah, all in due time. More pics to come when it all arrives and is installed.

Got a pass in on the way home.

I am super pleased with this considering I did absolutely no changes except driver mod. I stayed on the two step longer and preloaded the ebrake a little more and man. Noticeable difference.

I can’t shift any faster than this sadly, I don’t have the skeelz. But I’m pleased with this. Absolutely slap full coming out of the filler neck tank of E85 as well. 24lbs of boost.

Not bad for 100psi of compression. Wonder what it could do with about 100-110 more. :D

Why? I’m jealous of your whole pass! I really want my mph to be like 118 or so and to dip into the 11’s. But that’s just not gonna happen until I figure out what’s up with the compression or whatever.

Bastard is an asshole but he was right when he said months ago that there was a problem. If I deduce the head is leaking past the valves I’m gonna do a 2G head swap.

I’m impressed I ran this fast with essentially half an engine’s worth of compression. And on a small FP Green. I think I’m gonna stop chasing numbers though until I fix the engine.

Because yours seems consistent. I'm having issues with launch control too LOL as soon as my car came off the lower clutch switch it went straight out of launch control and right into my regular redline. That pass was spinning pretty much all of 1st

Congrats guys :thumb:
You guys actually make me motivated to take the dragy and go for a spin or go to the track. It's just unbelievably hot, I would wait for the winter though.

Oh I see. It definitely felt like a solid launch honestly. Best one so far and it just RIPPED through first. I did kinda feel it lay down up top though and you can see it on the Dragy yellow g-force line. But as far as the 60’ goes I think honestly at the track it would’ve been in the 1.7’s. Dragy usually struggles on the 60’s compared to the other benchmarks.

I’m admittedly a little bummed it’s not faster. But she doesn’t smoke and it isn’t a pile. Really want a 2G head now.

Congrats guys :thumb:

Thanks budday! I somewhat know what you mean regarding heat but where you’re at is a whole other level!

I will say though…I’m extremely proud that this is like ultra full weight. Full working A/C, all the stock premium options, stereo, speakers, power windows and locks and blah blah. If I stripped it out I’m positive I could get it where I wanted, but this is a street car first. Not some gutted tin can trailer queen.

Two of my things came in today, and I'm pleased with it.

First up is this.

IMG_8312.jpeg

IMG_8314.jpeg

It's a higher load/better quality relay with a weatherpack connector that's rated for underwater usage/marine applications. I'm equally stoked about the weatherproof feature, as I am the higher amperage. Plus, no more spade terminals to connect it. I soldered it because it's my car and it's never going to vibrate a lot back there or move, so wires becoming brittle doesn't concern me.

Install was easy, hardest part was soldering the big power wire running from the battery. That wire did not want to heat up. LOL

IMG_8321.jpeg

So nice.

IMG_8322.jpeg

Absolutely full disclosure here, it looks like a rats nest of wires because it is, but they're all sealed and marine 3:1 adhesive lined heat shrink'd up. The object is waterproof/weatherproof everything here. Plus, tucked behind that little panel it's completely hidden. I'm gonna test and monitor wire/relay temps during the next couple weeks and if I'm satisfied, I'll use some wire sheathing to make it all look OEM like an OEM harness so it's not a bundle of wires.

Lastly is this.

IMG_8310.jpeg

I bought a factory GM Flex Fuel sensor, but I didn't want to pay double price for the sensor that included the mounting holes vs the cheapest option. I found this bad boy on Amazon for like $14 and pulled the trigger.

IMG_8309.jpeg

It's got counter-sunk bolts that are included with it, so I'm gonna be able to mount it to look nice and clean instead of letting it dangle.

Still waiting on the ECMTuning adapter harness for the flex fuel sensor, but once that comes in I'm gonna install it and get this baby converted to true flexfuel. Excited for sure.

Last little part came in today from ECMTuning.

IMG_8341.jpeg

Plug and play harness for the Ethanol Content Sensor. Super good quality as it always is from ECMTuning.

After work I’m off this weekend and that’s when I’ll do the conversion. Looking forward to it and I’ll post up how it goes. Stoked to be able to just fill up on whatever I want and have it interpolate the difference.

Car is officially on FlexFuel. Never thought this would happen, man. Install was a breeze, especially with the ECMTuning adapter cable that plugs right into the MAF sensor's pigtail.

Surreal, man. I never thought this would happen. I never thought I'd be able to get this car tuned, idling, and driving on 93 octane but here we are. It's unreal where this car is now. This is a better car than I could've ever dreamed possible back in my teen years as a new DSMer.

A/C, power steering, FP Green, speed density, very clean with good quality non-ebay parts all around. And flex fuel wasn't a thing, but if it was it would blow my mind that we had a 1G M/T DSM that I could fill up on E85 or 93 Octane at will and it would just auto adjust.

ECMLink is awesome, man. No pictures or anything because honestly, there's not much to show. LOL

Congrats on the car brotha! I’d say you’ve got a pretty well rounded street machine! Nice to see all your hard work pay off:rocks:

Thanks brotha. It's been a long journey. To say the least. LOL

I am curious to get yalls feedback on something though.

What if I compression test this engine with a quality compression tester, and do a leakdown, and it passes both with flying colors? Right now I'm trapping 108/109MPH on 24-25lbs, and I feel like I should be trapping much higher than that. Or am I expecting too much? Stock engine, BC272 cams installed straight up, titanium retainers/upgraded springs. Unported anything. Stock 1G IM, Stock 2G Exhaust and o2 housing. 3" turbo back. FP Green. 2.5" intercooler piping, speed density.

If the engine is healthy...what else should I look at? What could be holding the car back if not head issues?

As far as boost goes, the way I have the TruBoost setup, 24/25lbs doesn't really come on until after 5500RPM. It's 18lbs ish from 4000-5500rpm. Not sure if that's relevant or not.

But yeah. Help me out fellas, I really want very low 12's or high 11's, and if the engine is fine I'll be lost. I'm not a great driver but I feel like I should still be trapping faster MPH wise even if my driving sucks.

I can't (couldn't, trans is broke now) get out of the hole without NOS on my automatic DSM, but she clicked off the beams at 128mph out the back door.

And a short clip of a test hit.

I would think your MPH should be more and you have a real good 60'. Mine was 3.1 :ohdamn: and I still went out the back at 128.
Just for comparing.

I feel like your turbo should be full tilt by like 4500, so maybe boost control needs some work. Afr and timing could also be a culprit too. I don't know what your targeting for both but just saying that those couple be contributing factors.

I’ll upload a third gear log when I get home tomorrow so you can see. But it’s 100% the boost controller. I can adjust it to where I get full boost at 4500 but I am paranoid. I don’t wanna kill this 2-spider center diff or this 22 spline t-case.

did you log it? if so post one up. what is your wastegate spring, what is your duty wgdutycycle?

It’s the FP internal gate setup. So I think it’s a 15lbs spring. I use an AEM TruBoostX so the duty cycle isn’t the same as ecmlinks EBC would be. But for 25lbs wastegate crack pressure is 18, and duty cycle is like 65-70%. Same as above though, I’ll post a log tomorrow when I get off.

A billion years later but here's some more info for you guys and a log attached at the end of the post.

I took the car to a local shop that's trustworthy and they actually let me borrow a snap-on compression tester to use. I used it in the parking lot, and official compression results are

Numbers START with Cylinder 4(furthest from timing belt) and end with Cylinder 1(closest to t-belt).

145 - 150 - 150 - 150

So honestly it's not like...a huge smoking gun or anything. I was TOLD these are 2G pistons, but Dale/BogusSVO is notorious for hating 2G Pistons on 1G rods, so I'm pretty sure they're 1G pistons. But considering this engine has less than 2000 miles on it, I feel like compression should be in the 180's. Still, it's not in the 100's. Yay. It also shows my compression tester is a POS. Lol.

So...I need yalls help. I guess I'll still do a leakdown test here in a couple weeks to see what's going on, but as of right now anyone got any ideas why my power is so low? I should be trapping at least in the 110-115 range on E85 and 24lbs of boost I feel. Here's the log. Couple things to note: it's on Flex-Fuel. So the "minimum octane" maps are what I run for 93 octane. The Max octane maps(both AFR and Timing) are what I run on E85.

Also: as a reminder, the car will not idle on its own with the A/C on. I really don't know why that is the case if the compression isn't super dead in one cylinder. I adjusted the throttle stop/IPS switch and TPS all to spec and actually gave it a tiny bit more so the throttle was open a tiny bit more, and it didn't help with the A/C on. Still dies if I don't tap the gas.

Here's the log. This was on 93(or like E30 according to the flex fuel sensor, whatever. :p )

So yeah. Should I mess with these adjustable cam gears and try to dial in these shitty BC cams more? They're installed straight up and not degreed. Otherwise I have no real clue what could be 1) Robbing power and 2) Killing my idle.

I was thinking on this a bit and going over the log, and I think I'm gonna mess with the boost controller again when it's back on E85 and get it to hit 22-24lbs immediately instead of 17 and creeping to 24 by redline. Gotta make a difference right? I may also say "eff" it and just shoot for a 30lbs pull. Have wastegate open at 24 and hold 30 to redline. See what she does.

I also am gonna try to do what Hiroshi/ @DSMPT recommended and adjust the cam gears a bit. Maybe it'll help with idle too by messing with overlap. IDK, worth a shot. I'll do that before I try the 30psi "moon tune". ROFL

Your compression numbers are just about right for a 1g, 7.8:1 setup. My 10:1 will hit 200 psi but not my stock motors.
Turn it up and see what she has. 👍
