Bigger stronger W5M33 gears?

The delay doesn’t bother me personally, as you could probably guess by the state of repairs LOL. I’d rather they put in the proper R&D and give us the best possible product they can rather than rush it and overpay for something that’s not up to the bill.

This is promising for those who area invested in these cars, like myself im fortunate to be able to have options to have upgrades like this, even tre in my back yard.

I'm gonna beg my wife to let me buy the full set later this year.

I really want to build my car out to 375 awhp, but I don't want to use a dog box because I want it to be a road course/daily drivable car that has similar driving characteristic to a normal AWD OEM transmission.

Considering the price of a dog box, this is not that bad of a price. The question of exactly how durable it is compared to straight cut is a big question, but I feel we won't know until they have a set in production and someone with a powerful build uses it for numerous runs. The thing is, they said they'll be offering the parts to repair it going forward. This could be a good product to always have access to. And I'm sure they'll revise the weaker links as they're discovered. That's the good thing about tooling. The initial costs are the hard part.

This will also lead to more DSM's being on the road. A lot of people give up on their cars when they blow a transmission because it can cost $2500 to have it rebuilt to OEM specifications, but that just means you're back on a transmission that's more or less made of glass and prone to the exact same failure.

I am expecting that this gearset will handle 800+HP if they are using 9310 material for the gears/shafts, along with the billet bearing plate and the much stronger 4 spider center differential.

The big hassle with the OEM transmission gearset is that there are little to no gears/shafts left available, no 3/4 hub and sliders, no shift rails, no 3/4 shift forks, no center diff guts (gears, housings, covers), and even the shaft bearings are nonexistent. The cost would be considerably higher than $2500 to rebuild.

This kit that they are working on really is a huge amount of components for the cost, and way more parts than building a PPG 4-spider 1-4 with bearing plate, the OEM parts needed, billet forks, etc.

I am expecting to be assembling a lot of these for people, and I am planning on building one for my own personal vehicle to test out.

Regretting selling off my spot in line. Might have to save pennies and just buy a set at the full price/current cost. An 800HP capable transmission without dogs and with great shifting characteristics for a DSM sounds...pornographic.

I did not get in on the initial buy for a few reasons and my main reason still stands. As stated earlier by someone, I prefer to wait to see what other hiccups (if any) come up after people in the group buy have installed and ran them for some time. The full price of them is alot (not saying the price of the product isnt worth the amount) but I'd rather pay the full price after any/all weak links were discovered and remedied. I'd rather not be having to remove my transmission and sending it out again after issues are discovered (again if any). I am very excited to see these come to fruition and looking forward to ordering a set in the future. Big thanks to NEAT gearboxes and those who invested in the 1st group buy to help get the ball rolling for a new, much needed product to be manufactured for our platform.

Was just on the website and see this at the top of the gearset page now. Not sure how long it has been there but looks like anyone can still by in on the pre-order at 8950 AUD.

NEAT GEARBOXES W5M33 SPORTSYNC 1-4 GEAR KIT

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This is a pre-production sale. By purchasing this product, you are acknowledging that you understand the parts have not yet been made, and that you are willing to wait until approximately the third quarter of 2025 for the delivery of the kit. This allows time for tooling, prototyping, testing, and main production.

It’s been there for awhile. They opened it awhile back and have stated they’ll keep it open but at a more expensive price for anyone in the future wanting the kit.

It’s a definite option man. I may start putting pennies up again. By the time they’re out and tested I should have enough to buy the kit and pay Tim Z to assemble it for me.

What’s weird is I just checked the current conversion rate and it’s cheaper now US dollars wise from when I did the 25%/75% buy in even though the AUD is more. Wthell? Go figure, would’ve been cheaper for me to wait until now. Oh well.

Exchange rates and inflation adjustments?

Exchange rates change daily. Looks like the AUD has lost about 5% of its value in the last 6 months.

Here's a good chart where you can track the conversion rate from anywhere to just about anywhere else.
