Yeah I want to clean all that area anyway, it has been leaking down there for a while. I already have it down to the timing cover left to remove, just gotta stay organized and not damage anything! That sucks. Too bad you have to remove so much stuff just to do 2 seals. I guess at this point it might be best to go over everything while you're in there. She's looking good though.

Yo!
I got everything buttoned up this weekend. New cam seals etc. Why do neither the Chilton or Haynes manuals tell you to RTV under the end cam caps? I've never done this, and I've always had small oil leaks at the timing side and under the CAS. Seems like a no brainer as there is a perfectly clear path that has no gasket or sealant.

I put a tiny bit in those areas on all three end cam caps and hopefully should be good to go!
Peace.
Yep, you live and you learn! I figured when I got the head built that they would have done these things... both times...I’ve always put a bit of silicon there. Learned early on. I also put a light layer around the half moon on the backside of the head.
. Fingers crossed we are leak free for once in 15 years!
Wish I could put a catch can there. But my surge tank is right there.I finally got all my fittings / lines together to install my catch can. Love this location how it is out of the way.

I redid the timing and will have that wrapped up shortly! Just in time for winter
Peace.
Oh no : (Yo!
So I got this thing all buttoned up and took it out around the neighborhood to break in the brakes and do some engine deceleration to break in the motor.

I was constantly checking for leaks, AFR's, oil pressure etc. just making sure nothing was loose or leaking.
I was just getting a half tank of gas, pulled out, and engine completely seized up.

At this point, I believe the oil pump seized.. TBD.
