Damn that looks good. Can you take a few head on shots of your car whenever you have time and email them to me? Maybe some side views too. I've had some ideas for shirts I've always wanted to toy with, just need some good shots. Not that I have time to work on those, but hey. :)

When I get it out next I will remember to get some for you!

Oh man where did you find those? I just finished restoring/painting and assembling mine. Now it's find mint parts to keep upgrading.

I found them from a local part out in Minnesota, but I actually wont' be using them as it turns out my original ones are in slightly better shape haha.

Nice find! They looked real good and thought they were the reporduced ones.

Well if you want to part with them and ship. I'm your man. I just finished restoring the dash and I really only need a few upgrades to make the interior mint. And that's pretty much it. She is like a new car again. Well... Resto mod car anyhow...

I have been having some weird cooling issues. Link is reading sporadic temps near 220, kicking the fan relay on/off rapidly. This is while its 65 and cloudy driving on the freeway.

I honestly cannot remember how old these coolant sensors are, so I just went ahead and got new ones. Mine may honestly be original... No idea.

I also changed from 50/50 mix to 70/30 distilled / coolant with a bottle of water wetter. Hopefully these things show improvement.

I also went to a local show, getting close to 750 miles on the build!

why such high milage? breakings are done in 20-50 miles as prolongs break in can wear oddly. race cars do not have long but a few miles and they can seal really well. just use great break in oil and your good to go a lot sooner.

The engine was built by Aric who was MAPerformance's head engine builder before he went on his own. Just following the break-in procedure on the build sheet. It's just on a high-zinc oil until 1,000 miles. Technically it says fully "broke-in" at 500 miles. But the MAP document also says "The last oil change you'll make before completing the engine break-in procedure will be at 1500 miles, at which point will be conventional or synthetic oil and a new filter. From here on out, the typical 3000 mile interval is recommended."

I just figure I'll follow it haha.

So modern engines do not require the long break in's and have been this way for some time. Mineral oil is used and the high ZDDP is good but you need to load it up so the rings can wear in nicely to the desired application otherwise, they can varnish and actually leak faster if you do a smooth break-in. Sometimes, when this happens a rehone to get fresh cross hatching is needed. The rings seal within the first 15-20 miles and that is the most critical part. I was done with breaking in my engine in less than 2 days, building boost over those two days but I did a third to help.

I did read a while ago here on the forum. a build sheet stating to do a smooth one but these a lot use this method and people get on with it. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
