True that.
But rally cars do white to keep an eye on flex..I was just wondering.

A dremel will come in handy in all sorts of ways, however for using this perticular tool you will need a high speed drill. The more powerful the drill, the easier the job. I started off drilling with an older, lower end, cordless Craftsman drill and it took forever. For Christmas I got a nice Craftsman Professional corded drill and its a piece of cake with that baby.I got a chordless dremel for my bday so yay me right..
Ding, ding. We have a winner! I'm painting the interior white because the rest of car is white. Call me old fashioned.Or maybe since the rest of his interior is currently white?

Although I would love to try it with my EVO!Yup, and it seems he has most types of racing listed in the thread title...except rally
The closest Rallycross I have found is in Tucson, AZ so about 5 hours away. To remove the strut tower brace piece that you are talking about there was no welding required. Just drill out the spot welds and its out. I did grind it and sand it just to make it all smooth afterwards.I actually have a 19v chordless drill. Its pretty sick.SO I can do that. But ifI have to get it welded and grinded, I wonder if the guy doing my allingment has a welder
Sure thing Brandon! I was a little nervious before I did it but I was surprised at how easy it was to make. I will post a step by step write up with pictures when I make the driver's side window, hopefully on Thursday.Hey Nate,
Do you have any pics of what you did for the Lexan window in the door? I've had a piece of Lexan since my last DSM that I had to part out to move to a new house, but now that I'm getting ready to finally cut out the doors on this one, just curious if you had pics or how you did everything for the windows!
Brandon
Thanks so much man! You never realize how big the project is when you are doing it, it's just a series of small projects done over time. This car is a journey for me in and of itself!Just spent like two hours reading this entire build thread. Great work and amazing progress since the beginning. Definetly boosts the ambition to finish mine as well as others im sure. Congrats on the "Soon to be new family member" as well.
Keep up the awesome progress. Sub'd for sure!

Haha well we both have a couple things in common. We are both building and running 14b cars, and we both have evos for dailies.
I love the way your doors turned out. You should pull the doors and weigh them.
And you just had a baby and my wife is 4.5 months pregnant
Thanks! Me too!!! That is a good idea, I will do that (Just not tonight though, I worked midnights last night and have been up all day... I'm about to crash).

Thanks again!I'd be curious just for comparison sake on the weight. But then again I don't have mirrors so a bit lighter there.
Ya 7 weeks ago today. What a great thing. Congrats to you!!!
Oh and there are a few huge differences between our evos

Feel free to use it! I know it's going to be a race car but I still want it to look nice and a little suede never hurt anyone,Nate, thanks for having such great creative ideas. Never would have thought to use those materials. Looks excellent. Once again, I might have to borrow these ideas. I'm sure they won't turn out quite as clean, but still cleaner than the sheet metal door skin...and as you mentioned, lighter too!
.Thanks man! That was one of the reasons I decided to pull her from Autox and street duty, so I could do whatever I wanted without having to worry about classes or safety or comfort on the street.Wow. Those doors are amazing. This car is the inspiration for my latest project. I would love to do this to my doors if it wasn't going to be street driven.
Thanks Shane! Again feel free to use it! It I didn't want to share with the community I wouldn't have posted it online!Awesome job Nate! Clean and light! As with the others I might be stealing/borrowing some of these ideas!
Ya know, I suppose if a guy were to leave the internal bracing in the door he might still be able to get away with this. Although, I'd like to keep the windows able to roll up and down for now as well. I planned on getting rid of the electric windows for some cranks.

Very ingenuitive Nate, you've done a great job dropping weight yet maintaining a clean interior.

But if your gonna make it a strictly drag car then I guess the wipers will be on there way out soon.
And at the very end of the vid isnt it supposed to say LIVE life? Instead of life life? Cool vid tho
