What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

I would leave it as it is. There is really no advantage to the Bastard 20g. The Evo3 16g and bastard 20g (20g wheel in 16g compressor inlet) make the same power. Both are capable of 300hp+ with correct mods, which seems like your on the right track. Anyways why tear apart a perfectly good turbo? It has no shaft play. So bolt it on and go whoop the shit out of your friend and his 20g, he will be pissed you beat him with his old turbo :)

edit- Also the link you posted is just like making a bastard 20g. A true 20g will be a down facing turbo. (meaning no j-pipe)

Your right, I need to max this out first, a td06 20g compressor and wheel still sounds sweet though, I cant wait to blow up my turbo.

It was probably a typo..Ya tdo6 is correct..I just copied and pasted..And not evo, evo3gt..

And I just re-read the link I posted on the evo3gt..It doesn't list the flow rating on the evo3gt..I would really just run that turbo with the right supporting mods, instead of making it a bastard 20g..

Justin I know you moved this..Why don't you chime in and tell him what you think of the evo3gt..

EVO III GT Facts

I've seen three or four of these come to my shop missing turbine wheels. I don't think it's an isolated incident- there seems to be an issue with the early Evo III GT's breaking off the turbine wheels which was *supposedly* addressed on later models, but then the turbos are no longer available so I have no idea what to believe.

My advice? It's a 16G. It's replaceable for $550. Run the shit out of it, and when it fails....replace it with a MHI unit or buy a new 20G from FP for the same money and drop it into the Evo III GT's turbine housing. Don't waste your time rebuilding this turbo unless it fails due to an oiling issue that is indirectly related to the turbo.

Where the hell are you coming up with that misinformation?

^ Is too quick to move threads this time..Wheres the Op..I bet he's wondering where his thread went..Unless he got offline..And apparently hasn't read all the posts either..I posted the flow of both wheels already..But it could be wrong cause I googled it and found the answer on an orlando dsm forum..

Solid advise right here, but if I buy a 20g, it will stay in its housing.

There are no direct-fit 20G's available from the factory as a 20G was never intended to be a DSM upgrade. If you want a 20G to fit your car, you'll either be installing it into an existing 7cm DSM bolt-on turbine housing or you'll be buying a T3-flanged manifold to fit the 20G's factory turbine housing. I suggest the former.

I'm guessing you mean "Turbonetics"....now why would you want to go and make a mistake like that?

I like doing things differently. It being a mistake is up to interpretation. I will admit that there are easier upgrade paths.

Turbotronics sounds better imo

Here is one.

On the compressor housing it says:

Bks1, a/r 42, m23, garrett

On the exh housing:

A/r 64, m3, 92
