Garrett T04E.

Cannot tell for sure what the compressor wheel size is, though it appears to be a 57-trim or 60-trim relating the inlet size to the wheel size. You won't know this for sure until you pull the cover and post the measurements of the inducer / exducer.

E57 = 2.220" inducer, 2.950" exducer
E60 = 2.290" inducer, 2.950" exducer

Most of these T04E Garrett turbos have the T31 (Stage 3) turbine, which will be the limiting factor in flow if the compressor wheel is indeed as big as I'm thinking. Even in a T3-flanged .63 or .82 a/r Garrett turbine housing, the T31 turbine is still going to hold you back from letting the compressor wheel live up to it's potential....much worse in a DSM bolt-on housing.

Still, with a T3 turbine housing this turbo should get you to 350-400 whp at 25-30psi on a good tune- possibly more if your fuel will let you get aggressive with the timing and air / fuel ratios without seeing knock.

Now all the reading i have come to this conclusion.
Correct me if im wrong please.

I think its an HX55 with a 19cm H2 series exhaust housing witch i think is about 1.00ar going by what i have read but there is a lot of missinformation on the web regarding these turbos so im very confused.
The shape of the compressor housing looks different to any others i have seen so im needing some help from somebody in the know to help out.
I had a look through the holset threads and couldnt find much either

No body have any info?

I did some more searching around and i found an asian web site about holset turbos and what i could gather there is a holset hx55R model turbo i think this might be it.
does any body know about the "R" model turbo there is very little published about them.
Thats even if its the same turbo.
 
the r in mean's ballbearing. on gerrett turbo's.

i did not know holset makes ballbearing turbos.
 
I know, I know, this has been talked about and explained MANY times, I've searched.
BUT there something strange about my 16G turbo, the part numbers used to determine which TD05 turbo is which are not lining up with mine.
The numbers start working: 49178-01...then the rest is just missing it seems.
Some other number I found on it was L051002, a 42, an 0, and an S, all separate.

Wich 16G is the best of the lot?
Mine is a 47 which is a E316G and not a eBay one I assume..

Which 16G is the best of the lot?
Each one has it's own spool and airflow characteristic. There is no "best" one- you pick the one that will meet your goals.
 
Um. Is it just me or does it say 42 right on the housing you have pictured? If those are indeed pictures of your turbo i would have to say its a big 16g as the serial number states.

I does not have a 4 but 2 the 4 must have came off somehow.

What were you hoping for? An Evo III is nearly identical.

This is actually incorrect.

The necessary corrections should be:

- A turbo with the part number 49178-01410 is a 14B, not a Big 16G.
- Small 16G's can display either 49178-01520 or 49178-05200 on the compressor cover.
 
all the turbos i have ever pulled off a car started wiyh 49178-whatever but this one says 49177-01900 what is it is it worth keeping
 
Thats most likely a TD04-13G-5CM2.

The 3000GT/Stealth guys might be interested in it for a twin turbo set-up.

Pretty much useless as a single turbo on a DSM.
 
It is a 13g. Members on 3si would probably be interested. They slide right into the 3s exhaust housing. My stealth trapped 117 with 2 of these in a 3800 lb car. So, one of them is pretty useless.

I think is a 14b or a 16g
