i also need help i have a wide body on my 2g and its 2" wider in the front per side and 2.5" in the rear and i was looking for some stagerd wheels. can you guys help me too. thx.

Best thing for you to do is go to a wheel shop and have them measure out what will work for you.. And as far as choosing a wheel well, once you know the correct sizes and fitments its endless possiblities..

well i have a set of rims, they are 18, 7.5 and have a 42 or 48 offset, how can i find out wich one is it?, What kinda tire combo i can go without rubbing. Thanks

Many wheel makers cast the wheel offset into the rear of a spoke on their one-piece cast wheels. Look for a number with the letters "ET" beside it. If that doesn't pan out you could always measure the hub mating surface depth from the inboard lip and subtract half the wheel width.

On my 7.5" wide +42mm offset wheels I use a 235mm wide tire. Most wheel shops say not to use more than a 225 on a 7.5" wide wheel. With the rear lip rolled, and the rear coilovers raised to the highest level (I think it's roughly -1.5" from stock?), my 235s still rub in the rear slightly when I hit a big enough pothole or bump. I would've needed around a +50mm offset to clear the fender with these tires, and would've then been concerned about hitting the suspension with the tire on the other side, but I have never measured to see how close I would've been.

I think 225 width is about max for a 7.5" wide wheel with less than +46ish offset if you don't want them sticking out past the fender (and I wouldn't ever go more than 235 on less than an 8" wide wheel). If you have the +48 offset wheel, you might consider measuring the suspension clearance first, but I think a 235 should still be fine, and tuck inside of the fender lip easily enough.

If you're talking about 2 different sized wheels between front and back, I don't think that works well with our cars. Plus, most people go wider in the back, which would just be pointless since the fronts are the ones that are getting power.

ok i was planning on getting some 17x7 with a 40mm offset i was planning on getting the widest tire possible i plan on having a 1.5 inch drop and maybe had fenders rolled to the max i'm looking for something ok for a daily driver. also i heard that if i get wider tires i would have to get lower profile tires in order to maintain stability. i was looking at going for some really wide tires somewhere from 265-275 if it fits i want atleast 255's will it fit? please let me know thanks.

The only problem i had with the 255 i had was it was like paper close to the spindal arm.... I would be careful. You would have to get spacers to get that big

As stated previously you will definitely need spacers for a tire that wide.

My car is lowered 1.5 inches and I use 225/40/18 on 18x7.5 wheels with 40 mm offset and the inner part of the tire just barely misses the suspension arm. I went with 5 mm H&R spacers to clear my new Brembo big brake kit and that locates the tires/wheels as far out as I think is visually acceptable You also want to go with the correct tire width for a given wheel width (don't go to wide) or you can really start to adversely affect handling.

Good luck:thumb:

Sup guys haven't been on here in a while. Was wondering if you guys wanna tell me your wheel setup so i can get an idea what im going with. Right now i have 17's with a 215/55 on it. Ugly as hell. With that 17 tho with my tax returns im going to be throwing 225/45s on it. What you think? but if i luck out and the rims are 8inch wide im going to throw 245/40s on it. I love a nice fat tire. But... my buddy might be trading me his 18s, so i might do a 245/35 on that. What is your guys opinions on these?

Just keep in mind future suspension changes that might not work with a very wide tire. I'm going to be buying a 225/45/17 this summer for my new 7.5 in wheels.

I have the Tein H-tech's which is only supposed to lower the car 1.2 in. Right now I have 215/55/17's on the front for snow tires, and they rub when going aroung hard corners, or massive bumps. Wasn't my choice of tire, got them free.
Anyways with the 225/45/17, you will be very close to the stock set-up. You could go 40, but I personally wanted extra meat on the tire.

You will want at least an 8 inch wheel if you are going to do that, which hopefully that wheel is. And do you know the offset of the wheel?

Also, PM Wret on here. He knows the most on the site about wheel/tire setups.

A 2.5 inch drop will be too much for daily use, even a 2 inch drop is still too low. My friend did a 2 inch drop and it is so low he scrapes on the small bumps on the road and some entrances to supermarkets and other stores. I would recommend a 1.7 inch drop at most as far as the front goes. A good wheel size would be a 17x7 wheel size with a 225/45/17 tire.

I appreciate it guys.. 225/45 sounds the best. i talked to a pretty good tire guy earlier and he said i could get away with a 234/40. i just love the look of a nice fat tire from the rear view. and i'm thinking about a 1.5 inch drop. My car scraps going in my driveway now with stock height LOL.

On a stock 1g rim, i ran a 225 and it was getting out there. I wouldnt go past that. Any further, it looks stupid and could potentially lead to sidewall failure.
