i have a full set of motegi wheels with brand new rear tires and 3/4 new tires on front... these wheels were originally white and were painted black by the person who owned them before me, they were on the car when i got it. they are 17x7 front and 18x8 rear then have a nice lip and the bolt pattern is 5x114
so i have owned these xxrs for ever now and need some tires to wrapp them in i was told by a tire shop that 235/40/18 will go in there. The rim is a 18x8.75 with a 35mm offset so i would like to know how big of tire i can stuff under there? the picture is of my rim with a 235/40 they put it on so i could see what it looks like..
Whats your drop? I am looking to run the same wheels but I was thinking of running 245/35/18's and I am dropped 1.5"
Do you have pics of them on your car? What size tires were you running before? Any rub issues?
I hear ya, I have the same wheels ordered only glass black. I am just going to pull the trigger and see what happens. You might want to figure in your drop because you will def want to drop it a bit once you have 18's under it. 245/35/18 are what I think I am going with, if not it will be 235/35/18.

Yea i was thinking to go big and do a 2inch drop but imma probley end up going with a 1.5inch and deffinatly let me know with what you go with!! Ive been looking at tires for a good 3 months!

Yeah, when I was searching I stumbled on your thread and everyone's answers were useless. Question: "What should I wrap them with?" Answer:"Tires"
Would be nice to get a serious answer. I will let you know how it goes when I get mine bolted up, but maybe you will beat me to it haha.

215s on a 8.75 will offer clearance...I liked the response "I disagree. Tires are expensive and you have to pay someone else to mount them. I would wrap them in 4782 layers of Plasti-Dip. Slightly fewer layers for extra torque. Slightly more if you're making snow tires." Especialy from a wiseman haha but What where you thinking of going with a 245/35/18 ? do you think you can fit that big of a wheel under there? Are you just gonna go for it or have a test fit or something?
I might just buy 225's because I know I wont have any issues with them. Question now is to go 225/40 or 225/35....hmm
I run 225/40's and I can't imagine going with an even shorter sidewall. The ride is very stiff and my rims have taken a beating and are bent.
I'm amazed he bent quality wheels with a 40 series. I've hit some nasty stuff on stretched 35s and cast wheels. :knock on wood: Still straight.

If you street race, Id get the 555r's. 225/50/16. They do the job well and they fit on stock 16 chrome rims.
