2g Wheels and Tires Size Questions [merged] fit fitment

So are you saying that a DSM would handle it better than an STI?

No, I did not make that generally statement. (Please read carefully.) An STi with the center unlocked would handle it better than a DSM, since the VC cannot be turned off.

Hello, What was the factory wheel size for the 97 GSX? I was wondering if a set of Eclipse 2001-2003 16" alloys would fit.
Also, do any other factory non-DSM wheels fit the 97 GSX?
Thanks for any help/guidance. TP

1997 GSX wheel is 17"
2001-2003 Eclipse wheels will also fit your car (they are 16's tho)
Any Lug Pattern 5X114 whould fit our cars, you just need to confirm the offset.
Acura RSX wheels fit our cars.
Acura Integra Type R wheels fit.
2005+ Subaru STi wheels fit.
FD Series RX-7 wheels fit.

i got a flat tire on my car and now it is time to replace all of them. i found a good deal on a set of 4 cooper weathermasters 225/55/17 with 85% tread left, will they fit on my car? i think that they might be too big overall. i have a a set of enkie 17 in wheels on my 92 talon AWD. (early)if it matters. any info is greatly apperciated.

They will work fine. Especially at stock ride height. I run 235/45/17's and I have zero rubbing issues.

I got myself into a predicament and to make a long story short I need replacement wheels for my 2g turbine wheels and I have credit at a junkyard which has 1g Stealth wheels as the closest replacement. The size of my tires is 205 55 16. From what I remember the tires on the Stealth were 255 50 16. Will my tires fit the stealth wheels or will there be issues? Thanks

Mitsocruiser is trying to say that he has 18" wheels on a car which has 17" from the factory. His implication is that you could use 17" on your factory 16". He's probably right. As long as you don't care about a different offset (which affects track, bearing load, and handling) because you're not autocrossing for example (just plain driving around town), and the tire clears the fenders on turns and when they bottom out, and they clear the calipers, they will probably work. Note that in the tire spec link I gave it says the rim width range can be 6-8" for a 225 width tire. You'll have to get an alignment though because when you change the ride height, the camber and toe change. If camber changes too much you'll need a camber kit.

like luv2rallye said the tires fit but you do give up some driving stability I live in florida we don't have snow are ice to deal with so it doesn't affect me that much but I can tell when a roads wet or not but since I only do daily driving more are less it worth it to me

Architechnik has it down. As long as the overall tire diameter is about the same you should be alright using the 17" wheel (instead of 16") and not even need an alignment or camber kit (ie. a larger diameter wheel with a smaller aspect ratio tire to give same overall tire diameter). You can look at the sizes here to compare tire diameters with aspect ratios: Search for Tires by Size. As far as a different offset don't worry about wearing the wheel bearings unless you autocross or start carrying 2000lb loads or go over 120mph often - it will be close enough to be fine. Just make sure the bolt pattern is correct. ALL DSMs use a 5-lug, 114.3mm or 4½" bolt circle.

Would a 225 50 16 tire be better for auto cross or a 225 45 16 tire in terms of sidewall flex and such. Woops, car is a 96 gsx with eiback pro kit and kyb shocks.

What is the offset of the wheel?
What is the lug pattern? even though its a 5-lug, only 5x114.3 will fit on your eclipse.

17x8.0 on inside of rim

sticker on rim says as follows
5 on 4.5" 6 on 4.5" using 32" max
5 on 5.5" 135mm 2000 lbs using 32" max
6 on 5.5" 2000LB using 32" max
8 on 6.5" 170 mm 2000LBS using 32" max
8 on 6.5" 170mm 2200LBS using 32" max

Thats all i know as of right now, untill i get a response back from the holder of the rims.

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its centerline to the hub mounting surface. This distance dictates the wheel’s placement within the wheel well. Offsets are described in three different ways, Positive, Zero and Negative.

Positive Offset: Hub mounting face is on the outside (towards the wheel face) of the wheel centerline.

Zero Offset: Hub mounting face is the wheel centerline.

Negative Offset: Hub mounting face is on the inside of the wheel centerline.

I search this topic and the only answer was that it's the tires that will rub and not the size of this wheels. So what is the correct size tires to use? These are wheels off of my TTZ.

thanks.

These wheels have an offset of 35..

Depends on the wheel offset, and also what you mean by "correct". I think that a 235 section width is about as wide as you can go without rolling the fenders, maybe 245 if you get lucky?

I run 225's on 8" wheels, hope this helps.

Will 225/45/r17 tires fit on my 17.7 rims?

Will they rub at any points on the car?

I have 215/50/r17 and the tire is really close to the spindle arm.

Thanks guys.
