Is there a blatent way to tell what size my rear speakers are without tearing the back seat out and such, I have a 95 GSX, They LOOK to be 6x9's, but i cant really tell with the speaker cover over them , such a pain to take out the seat and everything just to see what size they are haha.

yeah im pretty sure they are 6x9's cause they are Longer up and down, But i just dindt want to order the wrong ones :) , anyone have a pic fo there 6x9 eclipse 2g ?

Hey guys, what size speakers can you fit in the rear of a 1g?? It looks like 6x9's or 5x8's???? I wanted to cut that factory crap out so the whole screen was open, what speaker size would fit?? Thanks! :thumb:

the are 6X9s. but make sure and take out the stock ones first because the magnet on the back needs to be close to the stock speaker size. I made the mistake of buying 350w speakers only to figure out that they hit the wheel well. Just measure and you'll be fine.

Factory is 6x9. You can fit 6 1/2 round speakers with adapter plates. Crutchfield.com if you enter you car year make and modle it'll only show you stuff that'll fit.

It really depends. My old non-turbo had a 6.5" opening. There was no fitting a 6x9 in there. My turbo car has the 6x9s but like someone said, the speaker has to be thin enough to fit in there.

6x9's don't sound better. On a technical basis a round speaker will sound better due to suspension design issues and other things.

Good 6x9s sound good though. Seems more profesional audio guys perfer round speakers. I personally always replace 6x9s with 6 1/2s, or 6 1/2 combo plates, my preferance..I know a real good 6x9 will pump out the quality sound I want still at the volumes I need.

thanks for the replies guys, i'm new to car audio and just want something that sounds good, not blows out my windows. Has any one heard about the infinity kappa 6x9's, the new three way speaker?? I'm looking at those right now. Any feedback?

Infinities are good. I've not been disapointed with them. They have a pretty good reputation.

105 bucks with 20 for shipping on ebay!!! Less than half the price at bestbuy or circuit city :thumb: Anyone have any good recommendations for a 150w amp?? Brand names? I'm going to bridge the amp to power the 6x9's and bridge my deck to power my components. Good idea??

Bridge the amp to power the 6x9 and bridge your deck to power the components?

To bridge an amp means to take two or more channels and bridge it into one if the amp supports that. Why would you bridge a multi channel amp to one channel to run 2 6x9s? You'd lose clarity(usually) and lose stereo sound. Mostly people when they bridge its a 2 channel amp to power 1 sub, or a 4 channel to 2 channels to power two midrange speakers.

Its been so long since I got an amp I couldn't tell you if the same companies are still putting out the same quality.

This is why I asked!!! So it would be better just to get one nice amp to run all the speakers? that would be 2 6x9's and a set of compnents in the front.

Also, does anyone know if the new infinity kappa three ways fit in the rear of a 1g??? I guess I need that info before I make a purchase right :thumb:

Is the rear 6x9's a 2g turbo thing? My 1g GSX has 6.5's if I remember correctly, definately not 6x9.
nope, not just a 2g thing...I guess it's just hit or miss, but I work at circuit city and every eclipse I've seen is like that...my friend's 90 gsx has 6x9's also

yea 6.5's in back, but you can easily alter it to fit 6x9s:thumb: thats what i did

fairly simple, all you do is take either a flathead or something similar to cut it around the plastic lip (if you don't have a dremel, dremelling the thing would be so much eaiser)... you'll see what i'm talkign about once you open it up
