This may sound wierd but i am 99% sure that the size of the front speakers is acually 6 3/4 inches.

Maybe because your a 1g? I'd assume that would explain the difference.

they are a 6.5". you'll have to probably drill new holes because our cars are set up like chryslers and are a bit larger. most nice name brand speakers come with a plate that'll allow you to use either the same factory holes or pretty damn close to them.

Yeah, my old 95 N/T came with stock 6x9's too. Might have been an option thing.

Hello guys. I will share my story so nobody will ever mess it up like me. I own a base 97 eagle talon. I came to this website looking for speaker size and the first post I see says 6.5 front and 6x9 back which was the same that crutchfield.com said. So I went online and bought them.

Then I realized I had the 5.25 front 6.5 rear combination. But I decided to install the rear speakers first and I hacked the housing to make them fit. They fit allright but I have some rattle and the sound quality is way below average (comparing the same speaker in a different housing). Then, I went to install the door speakers and they did not fit right of the bat but I could get them to "stay in". Needless to say my door speakers sound awful and the rear sound is below average I was not happy.

So I decided to buy the speaker mount made for 6.5. I got them for cheap but to my surprise these did not fit either and they are made for 6.75 speakers anyways. Apparentely these are made for doors with power windows and mine is manual, so the door panel is shallow and so is the mount.

I am frustrated. I want to put the 6.5 in the rear but I hacked the housing so I'm trying to get a new housing and sell the ones I got. And Maybe get 5.25 speakers for the front and sell my 6x9. Sorry it took me so long to write this but my advice is don't modify, speakers are speakers if you want some power get some subs.

Also, if anybody has a 6.5 rear housing I would pay for it or trade it with 6.75 front housing.

I'm not pleased the way my modified 6x9 in the back sound. Does anybody have a 6.5'' rear housing willing to trade? I have a OEM 6x9 housing for the back and 6.5'' for the front. My car has manual windows and the door panel is completely different so the mitsubishi 6.5 housing does not even fit. Is there a manual window model with 6.5 speakers in the front? If so, what is the part number for the housing?
