HX52. Less than 1cm of clearance above the 1g motor mount bracket.

Not fitting as good on a 1g as a 2g huh :( Well I guess I have a fun time ahead of me as we have the same turbo and manifold. I have a vband compressor outlet though so I might try and build a 90* elbow with vband hook to go right into my IC setup to help out with space. Jake had a gt42 with this same manifold so it's def doable.

By the way that stock manifold has to go man LOL

It fits fine but to install it, you have to do the turbine housing first, then install the compressor housing. It will fit though with no modification. Plenty of room for the lower ic pipe as well. Especially since you can just clock the housing.

Anyone know anything about a Holset H2E ? Would it be good for a DSM, or should I stick with an H1E or HX40 ?

That I don't know yet. I had a guy email me from an ad I had looking for a Holset. He said he has a Holset H2E I can have for the cheap but I have no idea what an H2E is, or anything about it.

Hmmm, the compressor map I have shows no more than 70lb/min, while the hx52 shows over 90lb/min. The typical hx40 versus the older h1e have a flow difference of only 3-5lb/min. A measurement and pics would really help. . . and the numbers on the ID tag.

These are the only 2 of a H2E I can find. (from RX7 Forums)

Are you relocating your alternator to the back? That was my plan as the hx52 has a 4.5" exhaust outlet LOLOMG. If SBR ever gets me this gasket I will have my mounted(turbo to manifold pics. My block and head are in the works but already set to but of course money doesn't grow on trees LOL.

I honestly think an HX52 is way too big for my goals or I'd buy one. I've found 2 already cheap. That's why I'm trying to see if the hx40/h1e is best or if an hx50/h2e will work... my setup is currently 1050cc injectors, jmf smim, 2.3 stroker, ss tubular exhaust manifold, 38mm wastegate (for now) and sbr stage 6 head with bc 280s. My fuel delivery isnt setup yet but probably going with a bosch pump and bigger lines.

Well the hx40 with the super40 wheel should flow about 3lb/min less than the h2e and we know how fast it spools (VERY fast) and there is a bolt on housing for it on the market.

So, is the H2E or an HX50 worth buying? Are the housings completely different?

It's not too big it's that your goals are too small ROFLROFL j/k No the hx52 is really for the guys looking to do gt42r type things without spending thousands of dollars on a turbo that can't be rebuilt. You can make 700whp with the right he2 or hx40 so needless to say it will make just about any dsm guy happy. I think your selling yourself short though with a stroker already and a setup built for whatever you want as long as you do it right with fuel. If your looking to keep it more streetable then yeah hx40 but if it's a weekend/track car I would look at biglady's hx52 dyno thread and see the spool and power at low psi and just picture MORE boost :rocks:

hahaha. My goal is 625hp and what do you mean by selling myself short? Do you think building a stroker is a bad idea? I think I've got a pretty good build going on, especially with the $$ that's been spent already. I'm seriously ready to find me the right turbo and get this thing done. I do know that I'm still a very very long way from being done. If the H2E or HX50 will work then I'll buy this one I was offered, if I should stick with the HX40 or H1E then I'll buy it. I see a lot of talk about the HX35 and HX40 and just now recently the HX52. :) I guess I'll think this over and maybe buy the H2E tonight.

I meant that with a stroker you can run a bigger turbo make power easier and not have unbearable spool. I don't think stroker is a bad idea at all hell I will be running one in my setup. I would go hx50 if I were you with a stroker in a 18.5cm t3 housing. Not sure if it will fit in there though but that would be perfect for you goal and that engine. You CAN do it with a hx40 and t3 housing but it will be easier with a hx50. Your call though. You would just about be maxing out a hx40 while you would have room with a hx50 if you chose to aim higher later same with a hx52.

There's nothing wrong with pushing the limits of a turbo if it can reach your goal. This is the easiest way to insure the broadest powerband. The most usable power goes down the track faster.

600+ whp is pretty lofty. For this platform, it is a point where you can say, "no I don't want any more." A couple hundred ponds off your full stock weight and you're pretty consistant in the 9sec range. . .

4 months ago I said gt42s were just rediculous and anyone running one was nuts it was just too big for this platform. 4 months later I have a hx42 a 10 point cage and the supporting mods to run it on the street. I agree though for 99% 600whp is at that point where you can say I'm good.

I do truly understand. I've been there. I can almost can picture myself in your living room. I am not discouraging you. Yet, there is a difference between being the wakasachi of the dsm world and being as effective as a katana. Both are made with the same skill and detail and material. A ceremonial 600whp, however, is an end goal; not a stepping stone.

Do you guys talk 1/8 or 1/4 when talking track times?
