That's pretty bad ass :thumb: I have a line on hx 50 and a hx52 thinking i might pick one up and try and run with the big dogs. I know the hx40 will do 700whp but the car is not gonna be a street car really so lag isn't a factor especially since I"m not afraid to spray and a stroker is the gameplan.
My 52 is a billet wheel as well. And if you plan on getting one, let me know because I know a place where you can get them new for $220. As well as all the other Holset models.

You'll never get your car done because you keep changing your mind, 420a to 4g63 to BW to hx40 to hx52 ;) . There are much bigger holsets out there. Many larger than your motor. I suggest sticking to a goal and then upgrade when you've achieved it. The learning experience is worth it. Undertaking a build that stretches the legs of an hx40 is respectable and, more importantly, an extensively meticulous task (unless you pay someone else 1000s of dollars to do it for you). Just a suggestion. I suggest pushing the hx40 then adding the hx52 when it's all said and done. The knowledge you gain will be envaluable to you and technically you could make a few bones yourself on the side helping others. The hx52 is plenty large for 9 second passes. Most 9 second drivers/owners have a company now to sell there knowledge and successful ideas they've learned on the way.

Shhhhhhh:shhh: I knwo I am a setup flake but that's why I need to sell the 2gnt it's just a distraction. I see parts that are a steal and I hop on them. I finished the 420a I just didn't boost it. Lost cause the most hp I have seen people make without poping trans is like 440whp. WHy run a hx40 on a car with a 440whp limit before you have to mess with the trans. Not to mention the shop wanted 1200 to put a 8 point cage in my eclipse I picked up my 1g tsi awd with 4 bolt rear and 10 POINT cage for 1100. I think that's a no brainer:rocks:

I have been trying to buy a freaking holset hx40 for over a month and apparently finding a 6 or 7 blade with a 60mm inducer and a divided 19cm hotside housing that will bolt up to my divided t4 mani is about as likely as me finding bigfoot in my back yard. I was offered a brand new 6 blade hx40 today for $375 but it has a 16cm t3 hotside. I'm trying for 500whp on pump and 650+ on race. Should I just bite the bullet and buy this t3 hx40 and weld a t4 adapter on it, or should I hold out for one with the correct housing? Also, do the 19cm t4 holset hotsides have a vband exhaust outlet?

How much does a 19cm divided t4 holset turbine housing cost and where do I find one?

I believe I can probably get you one. I'll have to check with my dad and see if he is going to do anything with it since I told him he could use it. If not maybe we could work something out. It is a 19cm wastegated housing.

I hope you aren't talking about mine cause it's sold now LOL. Just get a good condition HX40 and then worry about the hotside later. You can buy some junk beat up turbo with shot bearings for like a 100 bucs with the housing you want on it and just swap it.

what size intercooler are you guys running with the hx35-40 turbo !

i know i was hoping some already had one on a 2g dsm so i could get some measurments ! i was also wondering what is everyone doing for a downpipe !

whats the easiest wastegate setup that works with no creep, i thought about using the stock internal gate on the holset, i also thought about using a mitsu to t3 adapter and use my 2g manifold but i don't know if it will clear the water pipe ?

Which turbo doing you have and it is the BEP bolt-on or T3?

The HX-40 with the BEP bolt-on, FP manifold, and o2 wastegate housing will fit with no problem but the T3 will not fit. The T3 needs spacers, custom fab o2 housing and slimmer fans.

I don't about the internal, but it's best to have the external wastegate on the manifold instead of the o2 housing if you do go external and wider o2 housing and downpipe will minimize boost creeping.

so a hx35 wont fit with a standard t3 manifold or a 2g man with a adapter even if you dent the water pipe ? so the hx35 flange is a t3 style flange.

That made no sense

Saying what will a hx35 fit alone is useless. You have to know what hotside is on it. BEP makes a couple housings that will fit mitsu manifolds t3 manifolds and t4 manifolds. Then you have standard garret hotsides you can fit on a hx35 that will fit T3 and t4 style manifolds. It all depends on what style hotside you have and manifold.

i dont have the turbo yet i am looking at 2 hx35 and 1 hx40 but i have to figure out what all i will need, i have read and read till my head hurts. we need a holset install list !

well the turbo will have the standard hotside from a cummins deisel iguess ! which i thought was a t3 style !

I need an estimate of how much power an 8 blade hx40 or h1e with a 58mm compressor inducer and a divided t4 19cm (.70 A/R) hotside can make on pump/race on a built 2.4. Also, how much would it cost to upgrade the compressor wheel to a 60mm or larger?

The 8-blade is in the flow range of a 60-1 (57ish lb/min). The hx40 turbine wheel is bigger than the common t3 stage 3 and t3 stage 5 wheels (t31, t350). So you will have better pumpgas numbers since you won't need as much boost to generate the flow. And then on top of that, the thing spools faster than a 60-1. . . Or even the 6-blade hx40 because there's rotating mass.

V8killer, you can bolt on an hx35 to a t3 manifold but you will have pi$$ poor spool if it is not a divided runner manifold. Since you have a ported 2g manifold, then get a bolton BEP housing and be done with it. There is no bolt on housing that BEP makes that is bigger (.55 a/r). The hx35 with the bolton housing is good for 11.2 so far and 500whp with the ported 2g manifold. And it can do better, becasue the best has a botched launch and ran only 28 psi.

It actually might not be billet it's hard to tell. It's not BRAND new but it's pretty close has a couple little things but it's in great condition with no shaft play and if the wheel isn't billet it's really clean and def a great buy thanks to b00stedtalon2 big time. Mine doesn't say volvo on it either like the rest :sneaky:
