Hey man, did you find any good deals on the half shaft? Mine has the outer boot torn up so I think I may replace the entinre thing...

When you bought it, did you get the ENTIRE axle assembly? meaning from the hub to the tranny? I ask because there seems to be two different shafts separated by the bracket (carrier bearing) in the middle that bolts up to the engine block. Let me know if you found any deals.

acutally John im kinda behind the ball on the whole axle, half-shaft terms. i honestly think i bought a half shaft from advanced auto for 85$ with a limited lifetime warrenty. i can tell you more after i look at my recipet.

That's more than what 90% of the people that own DSM's have done to their blocks. Nice pictures bro. I went with the girdle as well.

haha thats true, the girdle is added safety think all 6 bolts should have it.

Nice block im going the shot peened way next time when i do my swap to my tsi or 2g gsx. It looks good.

update.

Head is done. block should be assembled by thursday. if everyting goes well should have a decent long block put together by Fri night.

all the paints i used for this build were duplicolor.

i used duplicolor black fabric/vinyl spray paint. it takes about two cans to cover are carpets.

well i got a lot done this weekend. the car is going to be moving soon since were selling my grandmas house so i made a push to get everything cleaned and reinstalled.

put on my new rims, oil catch can, fenders ect ect...

my rims sit really close to my control arm makes me a lil nervous. i cant even fit my index finger in.

but take a look, next time you see it the motor will be installed!!!

Its been a while since i'v updated this thread. Between school and work i haven't had much time for my build. But my motor is almost finished just a couple more parts and i will have a full long block.
