Why did Mitz discontinue the TD series to goto this Garrett anywhos?

thx-DSM

They never really discontinued the td series turbos. Evo 4-9 is a td05hr. R meaning reverse rotation. Same goes for the srt-4 turbos. Theres still plenty of td series turbos out there.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but.... where on ebay is there a t25 with any bids on it? the t25 is TINY and it's basically useless unless you're doing a twin turbo setup or driving a honda.

I sold my old one a few months back for aroun $70 on ebay. Who wants a t25?? You said it in you last word. Honda. I looked to see what the guy had bought before the turbo. Everything he needed to turbo his civic.

Yup, the T25 must be great for a low displacement car with higher compression that can only run 10psi max. I should sell mine, but I got impatient uninstalling it and just cut the oil feedline, wonder how much that will drop the value

LOL I did the same thing! I got tired of messing with it and twisted it off. I noted it in my description.

thanks guys, looks like it should be worth a buck 25 to someone, there is nothing wrong with this one, looks to be in pretty nice shape.

I just got this turbo for free but cant find it in the bullseye catalog. I think that its a TO4B 57 trim, but im not sure. Here are some specs that i measured-

Compressor 60 A/R
IN 57
EX 75
Trim 57

Exhaust BEP Housing
IN 76
EX 63
Trim 68

Also the turbo is missing the compressor back plate and the compressor cover and wheel have made contact and scratched. Is their a place where i can buy a new cover and wheel for it? Thanks for the help

well if the turbo housing has any numbers on it do a google search

but as for the trubo if you are missing peases you might as well rebuild it but in most cases its cheaper to simply buy a new one...depending on the turbo you might now be able to rebuild it,

:talon:

A friend from work is willing to sell this to me for ~$200.

Here are 4 pics.

This is what the compressor housing says: Garrett A/R .60 M24 L
Turbine Housing: A/R .81 M1
Center housing says: Y2 (journal bearing)

Here are my questions:

1) anyone know what turbo this is? maybe a hybrid...
2) is that a T4 flange?
3) can I put a Mits hot side on this turbo so it will bolt up to my stock manifold?
4) how BIG is this turbo? power potential?

Thanks!!
Sean

I would have him measure the inducer/exducer of the wheels and try to match up online with a particular garrett compressor/turbine. That .81 turbine housing will be laggy but make good topend but may not be suitable for your application

Is that a T4 flange? And can I bolt on a Mits hot side instead of this to help with spool? (and bolt on LOL)

1) anyone know what turbo this is? maybe a hybrid...
It's a Garrett T4 turbo. I would guess it's a 60-trim compressor wheel mated to a Stage 3 (T31) turbine, making this an E60- but you can't tell without pulling the housings and measuring the wheels.

2) is that a T4 flange?
Correct.

3) can I put a Mits hot side on this turbo so it will bolt up to my stock manifold?
Yes, but I don't know why you'd want to. It would kill the already pathetic flow potential of the T31 turbine wheel. The Mitsu turbine housing wouldn't allow the compressor wheel to flow at it's fullest potential, making the turbo laggy and inefficient overall.

4) how BIG is this turbo? power potential?
Possibly 400-420whp on pump gas at 28-30psi. You could get more aggressive with the boost and the tune burning race fuel or E85.

That particular type of turbo is designed for use on a diesel tractor, hence the large turbine housing compared to a smallish compressor housing. As-is, the setup wouldn't work well on a DSM....with a Mitsu turbine housing the turbo ALSO wouldn't work well on a DSM running boost above 25psi. The turbine housing of choice for this turbo would be a T3 inlet with a .48 or .63 a/r

Thank you Very much for that information. you ruck :thumb:

I don't plan on running anything higher than 20psi on my stock motor...

So... you say I should find a T3 inlet with .48 or .63 a/r for the turbine housing and it should work well? I will have to look into that.... === Do I need to replace the turbine WHEEL as well?? ===

PS - no play on the wheels (left/right, in/out) at all.... BUT i noticed that they don't spin very easily.... a lot of drag on the wheels... looks like a new turbo though... ?

You might be able to get away with 20psi just fine in a Mitsu bolt-on housing, but if you're planning on eventually cranking up the boost you may just want to get a .48 / .63 T3 housing so you only have to buy the housing once. The T3 housing will not fit the stock manifold, so you'll need a manifold with a T3 turbine flange and most likely an external wastegate flange as well. The turbine wheel will not need to be replaced.

Honestly, if you're not planning on ever exceeding 20psi there are much better turbo choices out there. At 20psi, you're not even beginning to get into the efficiency of this turbo's compressor wheel....and at much more than 20psi in a Mitsu housing, the compressor will begin to outflow the turbine wheel and housing potential. You may want to buy this turbo, resell it on eBay for a profit, and find a turbo that would work better at 20psi (16G/18G/20G).

A buddy of mine was running a PTE 6031E (60-1 compressor, T31 turbine) in a Mitsu turbine housing recently.....at 28psi, he could NOT get more than 48-49lb/min of airflow from the turbo. He switched to a .82 a/r T3 turbine housing and a Turbonetics manifold, and the airflow numbers jumped to 55+lb/min. No other changes were made. You can see how restrictive the Mitsu housings are when used with Garrett turbines.

If the turbo is new, chances are it's sat on the shelf for a while and has little to no lubrication on the journal bearings. Try flipping the turbo over and pouring a couple ounces of oil into the oil drain flange. Allow a few seconds for the oil to flow inside the housing, then turn the turbo over and allow the oil to drain out. It should spin freely at this point, and any play in the shaft should all but disappear.

Hey can you guys help me? I believe this is a T04Z, but am not sure.

okay, thanks i was told it was a Garret T04Z!
Im crossing that off the list now.

Another question, who sells Holset turbos?
I am failing at finding them really anywhere.

Pull the compressor housing and turbine housing off, measure inducer and exducer of each wheel, and then we may be able to have an idea of what you have. A simple pic tells us nothing more than you have some variant of the t3/4 variety.

I would, but those are pics from the guy who want to sell me the turbo.
