Yeah it is dirty, just got the car not too long ago.
Trying to overhaul all the bad.

Bullseye T04B V-Trim.

None.

How sure are you that it is the Bullseye T04B V-Trim? I've looked at pictures and mines doesn't have the split blades on the compressor wheel.

That compressor cover looks different than the bullseye to4b's that i've had. I wonder if someone installed a different compressor cover on it.

Bullseye used the T04B cover on M-trim, V-trim, 50-trim (a T04E wheel), and 60-1 compressors....so obviously none of those wheels look the same as the other. That and there are actually 6-blade (major) versions of the V-trim out there in circulation with the same spec as the 8-blade major wheels to further add a degree of confusion.

Here's the same turbo with a 60-1 wheel:

Hey guys, i just bought an Evo 3 with a broken WG-clock axle. So as i was gonna put on the new one i noticed the pin is too thick for the stock WG-clock axlehole. And then it hit me, its not the stock Evo 3 turbo! But Question is, is it something better or worse?

I put the pic up on another stock Evo 3 turbo I have, and the mounted one is the one im curious about. It only says "TD05" on the tag.

The second turbo is an ebay turbo, that is why the wastegate flapper assembly is different. The first turbo is definitely a Mhi, from the part number it appears to be an evo III

Hahah damn, that sucks. But thanks! And yes the other one is a real Evo 3 turbo since it came off my other one ^^

Couple people say FP Red, Justin says FP Green. Has the Mitsubishi Diamond Star on it with those visible numbers. Not sure what else.

Ok, belay that. FP Green just as Justin says. Found the exact looking turbo with matching numbers on a Subaru Forum! Woot! Not bad of a purchase!

It's not a Red at all. FP Red's in that era used a 60-1 compressor which had 7 major blades. Yours has 6.

Judging by the "straight" leading edge to the compressor blades, it's an FP Green- or a FP Green clone if you can't find the signature "FP" stamps anywhere.

Found images of a few of these on the subaru forums claiming them as FP Greens. But I do see that the actual FP's have the FP stamp. Just wanted to make sure its worth the 200 bills I might throw at it.

What turbo is this I was told it was an 18g but every people serial numbers are saying 16g wtf. Also it needs rebuilt I am rebuilding it this weekend but the wheel has a small nick I mean small doubt this will hurt anything? Serial numbers are 49178-06310 tdo5h thanks

post pictures, remove compressor cover and mic the inducer and exducer of the compressor wheel to know for sure. Also it could be a 18g even though the serial number on the housing is for a 16g, as far as i know a 18g was never available in our style housing they are all custom made.

...two different turbos with 'strange' part numbers...

also for those determing mhi 16g turbos

Locate the MHI 16G compressor housing part number. On the compressor housing, opposite the model number,is a ten-digit part number. All MHI 16G turbochargers begin with the prefix "49178," followed by the two digits,"01." These positions are cast in raised raised digits, while the remaining three positions,or suffix,is hand stamped onto the compressor housing. The suffix determines the specific 16G model.

The hand-stamped suffix for the different MHI 16G models are the following: "420" and "412" identify the big 16G turbo,"450" identifies the EVO I big 16G,"460" for the EVO II big 16G, "470," identifies the EVO III 16G,while "520" identifies the small 16G.
