Flywheel and clutch setup on. Put transmission on and fork was a bit biased left of center. ACT Streetlite, fidanza v2 6puck and pressure plate, comp clutch forged fork, new OEM pivot ball and TOB.

Fingers look correct, just slightly convex, unless there's something I'm not seeing.

Clutch fork isn't bent. Flywheel is .609 all the way around.

Perhaps the disk is just a tad thick and needs to wear in a bit but I'm considering a shim between .7 and 1.1mm. three aftermarket parts that are all determining fork resting position, the variances could be adding up to just aint quite right.

Is it an oem master and slave? Did you check the diameter of the slave?

both are OEM, but I haven't actually used the clutch yet to see if the throw is correct and if i'm getting full disengagement. I have so far just made a visual inspection of the position of the fork end.

IIRC it was centered before but I don't think the PO's "mechanic" removed the nylon washer off the pivot ball, if it was a Comp Clutch one. There definitely was a nylon washer on there to begin with, so that added some offset.

On my 1g, it was definitely to the driver side of center but I had an OEM fork there. I wish I kept it. If I did, it's buried somewhere

Cleaned up my heads. I'll check it with straight edge and feeler gauge tomorrow. There is a bit of the cylinder 3 fire ring imprint still but I think it's fine for composite head gasket.

Those straight cut gears are gold these days, seen them selling for $100+ per set.

Mine are still like new after 9 years in the car, hell after 2 money shifts, 200+ drag passes and probably 40k miles, other than some light marks on the case that you can't even catch a finger nail on, I'm very happy with this pump. This was fed a diet of 20w50 VR1 since day 1.

They definitely have gone up in value. I kind of wish i didn't sell some of my old stock since now i can't find shit. :idontknow:

Found that Titan Motorsports is selling 4 different Kelford cam sets for early 4g63 in their eBay store for less than half the price and just ordered one.
They don't have the popular 272 sets but they sell discontinued 264/260, 288/280 and the latest 258/264 and 280/288. Maybe it's a good opportunity for someone who is planning to buy one of those sets.

Very tempting. I haven't done enough research on on kelfords since i've always used the old school hks272 or gsc.

I happened to find it and just ordered the 258/264, the mildest set in recent Kelford lineup. I may use it in my 2g. The 258/264 is supposed to be very similar to the old school HKS 264/272 combo, but Kelford version. I guess it would work similar or a little bit more aggressive than the HKS combo.

It is such a clean car. Museum quality :D

Amen to that. Im sure he will love it all again with the fresh suspension bushes and nice shifting. I get to drive it for a bit also to keep an eye on things as it all settles in and i can re check the hardware after a good few miles

Took the car to Radwood PNW this last weekend after a few frantic evenings of cleaning and prep, much of which was for nothing because it was raining all day but oh well. There were two 1Gs there and we both had the same color combo which I thought was hilarious since the blue/gray with white interior seems to be a fairly uncommon combo.

One weird thing did pop up on the way home though: the clutch doesn't seem to be releasing all the way? I had to drive very carefully because as soon as the car went into the boost the clutch would slip as if it's not quite released fully. It's a brand new Southbend kevlar so I doubt there is anything wrong with the clutch itself. I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet, but it seems to be the opposite issue that most people deal with which is the clutch not disengaging all the way. I'm going to start by making sure the master cylinder is properly adjusted, anything else I should consider too?

I DROVE mine for data collection on my SD table. From my very inexperienced eyes, I need to move my whole timing table UP in range, but at least I was DRIVING, not assembling :thumb:. I am a long ways away from the car running "good" but it would get me from A 2 B locally, no issues at all.
I also tested the MBC. I turned it out 1 turn and gained 5 psi. I think the log even showed 27 for a moment. YAY. I am just testing everything right now!

My stm SD intake showed up today FINALLY LOL. Went ahead and removed that rigged cold air intake I made and installed the SD intake. Hooked fresh battery up and connected to ecmlink. Set tps voltage and throttle position adjustment, set base fuel psi (without car running, enabled pump in ecmlink) ,checked for fuel leaks, and calculated injector dead time inside ecmlink. Still have some settings to go through for the switch from maf to sd but throughout the week will be putting fresh fluids and hopefully can try to start it up this weekend!

Jeez I waited like 3 months for mine and it still came back screwed up. Then that took another 2 months to fix.

Put the passenger axle back in, stuck some 10AN fittings in my oil cooler, bolted the AC bracket on and the compressor to the bracket. Those really were the only things I could get done today. Yikes.

It's nice to have connections LOL. Here's to hoping everything specs out....close enough at least ROFL It was a running stock 6 bolt, bearings/everything were in mint shape when I took it apart so fingers crossed.

Stupid novice question here as I’ve never sent anything to a machine shop yet. Did you paint before it went or after you got it back? I assume they didn’t paint it..

After. I wire wheeled it and cleaned as much as I could before I sent it in and it came back mostly bare steel. I degreased, pressure washed and dried it before painting it.
