The stock lower intercooler pipe pops off my Big T28 Killer when it starts to boost. Why? Do I need a hard pipe? Well i'm leaking coolant and have to go tighten this bolt down. Please give some advice Im stumped.

you could also try the hairspray trick for something cheap and simple? Even if it doesn't work you haven't spent any money...

this works for me everytime you may wanna give it a shot first

John has an excellent point. If you are using a hard TB elbow this is most likely going to be the root cause of your problem, not enough flex anywhere. I used a 3" 90 in this setup, and that provided enough flex to keep things together at over 35 psi (guage pegged) without having to modify the 3.5" MAF. I did slide those reducers out a couple times, but taking some sandpaper to the shiny surface fixed that immediately. With a hard TB elbow and short route piping through the radiator support, there are no bends to offer some flexibility. You'll have to use as many hump hoses as you can.

that makes perfect sence to me...during a hard pull the motor is tourqing to the fire wall, the motors mounts are poly but with as much power as the motor makes i dont know....and the pressure build up is just adding to the stress on that coupler. ill put an order into slow boy for the hump, but in the mean time ill try a few things suggested...thanks for all the input guys:)

clamp between the two fixed the problem...just clamp to clamp over the maf....thanks for all the input...30 lbs now is F***ing amazing!!!!

i was just stuck out in the rain for a half hour trying to wedge one of my intercooler pipes back into the coupler with no friggin tools or light:beatentodeath: i think i need to carry a small socket set in the car for shit like this......

sorry for the rant:talon: :talon: :talon:

did you burn and scrape your knuckles all up like me?:notgood:

no, but i forgot to unhook the negative terminal on the battery and had sparks fly all over my face for a minute :notgood: my face is still burning

That's why I keep a nice big socket set in my trunk along with a bunch of screw drivers, pliers, and pretty much anything else I may need.

i got pissed and just made the couplers longer.. haha that fixed it that and getting the pipes beaded at the ends.

When it was really hot this summer, my LICP was blowing off all the time. I carry a small tool kit with me too. Everyone makes fun of me because my car needs a tool kit with it at all times

Blow an IC pipe on the highway? I think most of us have been there. I carry a tool kit with me at all times now.
my blown motor mount caused my engine to swing back and rip my j-pipe out of my licp and bend the flange on my j-pipe. I have a gm maf on my uicp, so it did nothing besides make the car very slow. SUCKERS

..and you said there was no light.

Oh man, I was at a club at one and I thought my friends left me for some chicks. So I took off. There was 2 ways home, one over this high ass bridge, and the other way. Which is just flat grounds. Anyway, didn't trust my pipe connections so I went the flat way, which ended up being the longest, most miserable night eva! I cruised and I swear, my pipes came off 3 times in city limits. Then I started leaving the big city and crusin down what i thought was port a. I missed the turn and headed an hour off course, in South Padre Island. No lights, 2 am now and my pipe was barely on. Couldn't go over 50. Next thing you know I hear something scrapin, I thought it was my ghetto air duct I got mounted. Out of nowhere instead of the long dark road I was on I hit a 2 feet deep dip and was on a beach! Talk about random. Car was boggin out and I was just mad because another connection came off. Went to go look, feeling depressed and tired, and my f'en sidemount was gone! LOL, Man I was like #### it, I'm never going home. LOL. But I just got over it, I wanted to beat this, can't let my car beat me down like this son! I turned the car around, very slowly and barely, and shined the lights. I saw a shiny thing up ahead and my ic was banged up! I was just happy I found it. Went to go hook it back up and noticed I was missing a clamp!! So I gathered two small ones I used for the bov and made a big clamp. I didn't care if I vented, just wanted to get home. Got my 8mm socket and ratchet, and went to work. As I was about to tighten I lose the socket! LOL, I forgot what I used but I tightened it enought to make my car move. Went an hour back, pulled over to the first store I saw, and crawled inside pretty much and asked for directions. They said port a is the next right. :*( I was all beat up, sandy, sad, traumitized, too many feelings. Made it to port a, barely, but made it. We have to use a ferry boat to cross from Port A to my home town. So when I got on the ferry you have to turn off your car, federal regulations. I didnt' think much of it, just a huge weight lifted...Ferry took us across, started my car, then it died. Battery was dead! DUde! I just wanna go home! *crying* They had to turn the ferry around just for me and push me off. It was a shitty feeling. Popped the hood and I just had a loose negative terminal. Fixed it, crossed the ferry, went home. Slept.

The end

I hate my car

But I still care for it... :D

LOL

Does the original poster have beads on his pipes? I can't figure out why anyone would use pipes with no beads. You're just asking for shit like this to happen. If they're beaded, you're not tightening your clamps down enough or you're using the wrong size couplers or something. Get some heavy duty clamps from RRE or go t-bolt.
