I have read a lot about cleaning your intercooler... I was just wondering if any of you guys have done it, and can you feel a differance? I took a look at mine this morning and it does look pretty nasty...........

Yeah, my CEL came on after I hooked everything up....duno what else could be the problem...double checked everything to make sure it was all pugged in right, gonna check again though to be sure 2000%

Is it neccesary to clean the intercooler in your car ? I just flushed my rad and I was wondering if there's any way I could clean my intercooler. I've never had a turbo car before, so I don't know if an intercooler has any sort of liquid inside of it. I'm thinking that it's probably empty.

Take the intercooler out, put a little gasoline in it, shake it around, dump it out. Repeat until the shit that comes out is not longer black.

ok, i just got a supra sidemount and i put gasoline in it and shook it around and when i dumped it was BLACK....i kept doing it and now it is almost all clean, but i was wondering if it is okay if i just soak it in gasoline overnight....i dont plan on putting the intercooler to use for another week so i figure that that would be plenty of time for it to dry out....but will the gasoline soaking in there hurt it?

Thanks :dsm:

It wouldn't hurt it, but it wouldn't be any more effective at cleaning out your intercooler. That's like letting a dish sit in a bucket of soapy water to clean it instead of using fresh water to rinse it off.

i was just about to say the exact same thing, let it soat for an hour or two then let it all come out. overnight is excessive.

I am bout to clean my IC this weekend and i was told to use gas and keep usin it til it gets cleared up. But i have been told that you only need to let it sit for abotu 30 min after usin it to let it dry and then ive been told u need to let it sit for about 5 or 6 hours to dry before putting it back on. Anyone with experience wanna help me with this one?

Another thread asking the same question as before. If your thread has been closed in the past, then there was a particular reason for this. DO NOT POST THIS AGAIN, let alone a duplicate of this post in another forum. It is looking like a vacation may be needed. :nono:

Please do not post the same topic in multiple forums, let alone post a thread that has been closed in the past. Vacation anyone? :nono:

pour some gas inside of it and shake, do it afew times till it comes out clean, pour gas on the ouside of the fins aswell

i would use gas, leaves it cleaner and evaporates quicker,

also make sure you let it dry good. couple days if you can to get the gas fumes out

i didn't read all of the other replies, but the best way is going to be a good steamcleaning, unhook the thing so you can realy get at it and get the best results... it should help a bit with the tiny side mount, they get sooooooooo hot that any bit would help out.... :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

hey i was just wondering what the best way to clean my stock intercooler and all the piping cause they got a lot of oil and crap in them and really need some cleaning done, thanks!!!!
