I can't be the first person that has done this. I busted out both honeycombs in my MAF. Does anybody sell replacements ? Or have an idea about what I should do. The car is idleing very rough now and misses whenever I am not accelerating.

Don't use the FCD. It's a terrible idea, and it WILL cause the car to lean out at higher engine speeds.

If you have fuel cut, either tune it out or get a chip that removes it. In most cases, better tuning will get rid of it.

I wouldn't pull out the honeycombs on a 2g. Like 14.5 said, it causes the car to idle shitty, and that's about all it's going to do for you. Why waste your time?

my talon hits fuel cut at 13 PSI. in 3rd gear at 6k rpm i am pulling in over 2k kar and it hits fuel cut. I check my loger i have no knock my O2s look ok. I even added fuel just for the heck of it to see if that will work and it didn't. I think i am going to go back to an unhacked maf to see if it makes a diffrence. Oh by the way this is on a 14B turbo with intake turbo back exhaust 3" and super afc

I have a 1G Talon FWD and I made the removal of the Honeylower Comb, my car sitll work exactly in the same way, as far as it feels.
By the way, my 1/4mile time was reduced in 0.032 after that free mod... right now I am getting 15.5 Psi of boost without any fuel cut with my Hacked MAS...

Good Luck!.

I know its a heavily disscussed topic .. i also know it seems to vary between people. Im hitting fuel cut .. arent we all .. LOL

I have full 3" .. big16g .. boost controller .. 255lb walbro .. K&N .. ect ect ..

I havent had the cash for the AFC yet so i was curious if removing my lower honey comb in my 1g mass .. replacing the fuel filter to a new OEM one would help me temporarily until i can afford the S-AFC II.

Does hacking it screw up how the car runs on a 1g like it does on 2g's ... or sometimes not? .. if its risky i dont know if ill do it or not cause the car runs good .. i just cant race anyone or floor it or bamm! it fuel cuts ..

Is there any way you can safely remove it so that you can re-install it afterward if it doesnt run good?

I have the boost set at a mere 15lbs .. for a big16g that should be no problem .. considering my friends running 18lbs on the same set up on a built 2g awd with no problems.

I also have a 34mm wastegate flapper so creep is not an issue for me. my o2 housing is all ported also ..

92awddsm .. i have done almost all free mods .. i havent done this yet obviously because i didnt want to cut up the mas and find that the car doesnt fuel cut .. but runs like hell now in other areas.

Im in no means a noob but i know this is a heavily discussed topic and would get more attention in this forum. Any links on where to look on how to remove it without screwing stuff up and possibly making it able to be reinstalled incase something does go screwy with the car

look at my signature with my mods.
before i was running 16psi and i had the maft hacked it will still hit fuel cut. it only stopped when i installed my safc and 2gmaf you should watch out for you egts on a side note.Wit all my mods in my sigature, my egts would hit 1600+ no problem because i'm on the shity sidemmount.

It feels like your tranny drops out. It's a really hard and scary jerk if you don't know what it is.

Yes, you can remove it without damaging it and it can be reinstalled if it doesnt work for you. All you have to do is bend the 2 tabs and it will slide out. Then you can reinstall it and bend the tabs back to hold it in place.

i don't know if anyone else has run into this problem. but i did today.

i pulled everything apart. (UICP, intake, maf) and did some of the freebies that hadn't been done yet.

cleaned my K&N, pulled the lower honey comb.

i noticed though, when i pulled the HC that when im cruising and have to stop quick or even just come down from high rpm's that the car will dip to about 500rpm's and sometimes stall.

i put everything back together right, and tight on all my clamps. so im assuming it has got to be the honeycomb.

is there any way to fix this, or should i just put the thing back in?

insight would be awesome. thx.

Chances are you have a boost leak, especially where you had the UICP off. Build a boost leak tester and find out where they are. www.vfaq.com

everything was tight and put back right.

i was just reading that the lower honey comb will F**k up idle REAL bad.

so im going to put it back in tomorrow and see how that does for me.

most everything i read said it should fix it.

Just because you tightened everything doesn't mean it's not leaking. You need to do a boost leak test. I'm not saying that's definitley the cause, but it's a very good posibility.

i got a chance to put the honeycomb back in today, tightened everything up.

fixed it.

it was the honey comb. i think it was causing too much air to bypass the main air sensor causing my car to feel like shit.

now with it back in, i have much much better throttle response as well as a near rock solid idle. (still need to make a slight biss adjustment.) :talon:

hey guys, i've asked this about two times already but never gotten any real helpful answers. i removed my lower honeycomb and at times, while idling, my car will die. it seems to happen only when the car is warmed up. Whos had this problem before? how did u fix it? is there anyway to fix it other than putting the honeycomb back in (i dont have it)?

you could probably tune it out with a SAFC, MAFT, ect, but you should just put them back in if your car stalls like that. It is probably running lean. Good time to upgrade to a 2g Maf, or a GM Maf. :D
