I can't be the first person that has done this. I busted out both honeycombs in my MAF. Does anybody sell replacements ? Or have an idea about what I should do. The car is idleing very rough now and misses whenever I am not accelerating.

ok i think in this i was talking about the ring in the piping not the honeycomb at the bottom of the mas.i just wanted to clear that up it was buggin me.i took the ring out not the honeycomb in the mas itself.my badOMG

Just take out the silencer made out of the fiberboard that is behind your ''honey comb'' mesh. that gives it a little bit of power..look it up in Sport Compact car. 4G63 Tuning for NT and Turbos.

Dont throw the top one away. You will need to put it back in when the car starts idling like crap. IF it doesnt, you are one in a million!

during a recent intake mod, i managed to damage the small honeycomb(on the cone side) of the MAS, beyond repair. Since, my car wants to shut down when i punch the gas pedal. Now, pardon my ignorance, but should i try to replace that honeycomb, or is there some kind of adjustment anybody knows of.........PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,

What will happen if I remove the larger honeycomb in the MAF?
Actually I accidentally removed it. And now I can't bring the honeycomb material back because its deformed. Whats the use of the larger honeycomb?

At the moment, I haven't noticed any problems.

Thanks in advance.

A quote form that page:

DO NOT remove the main upper square honeycomb section. This is needed to straighten out the air flow before it enters the main measuring chamber.

Thanks for replying.

I should bring back the honeycomb material even if its a little deformed. I'll just put superglue on the sides.

I took the circular "thing" out at the bottom where the intake pipe conects to the air sensor. I can't really tell a difference. Does anybody know what it is for? I kind of hesitated on taking it out because it must be in there for a reason. I haven't had any bad side effects yet.

Well I pulled off the MAS and looked at the rectangle section mad as ever to find the previous owner or owners of the car ripped out or destroyed the big honeycomb disrupting my lil tornadoes inside the MAS giving my ECU bad info and is probably cause my idle problems and driving problems jerking the car around when I put a K&N on it. I just bought this thing a week ago! I am so mad. Does anyone know if I can buy just the honeycomb and put it back in there? The car drives fine with a stock like filter and the box around it but come on! I am desperate now.

I was wondering if any body could tell me wtf is the honeycomb on the mas airflow sensor and why would you remove it. also are there any other honeycombs. ive heard people say they are in more than one place. anything will be helpful.
