Damn that's louder than mine LOL

I honestly think piping material and size makes the difference. The LICP is 2” for a little bit then necks up to 2.5”. And everything including the intake pipe is thin wall aluminum. I think combined that’s what makes it so loud. I adore it though man.

Sounds NICE!

Thanks broski. I love the sounds.

Clutch is broken in, so I decided to do a baby 0-60 pass.

She's slow AF! But, there's a good reason. Ricer excuses incoming.

1) I am a coward and don't want to just full send this thing on its shakedown run. So I only launched at 4500RPM and like 2lbs of boost. Which immediately bogged and dropped to 0. Lol.

2) I, like said above, am a coward. So I shifted super early at like 5800-6200RPM. I just can't bring myself to rev it out to 7500RPM. Have to work my way up to it.

3) It's still on wastegate pressure.

With all those things considered...I think it went well! The o.g. 0-60 time for this car was 6.5 seconds(that's with a 1ft rollout) so roughly 7.0 seconds true 0-60. That means I've dropped half a second off the "magazine" 0-60 time(6.0 via dragy w/ 1ft rollout), on nothing but wastegate pressure and nowhere near a full send pass.

Also: I only included the "1/8th mile pass" for the 60 foot time so you could see how pathetic the launch was. I let out decently before the end of the run. Worth mentioning as well, this Dragy is an idiot. This road is nowhere near sloping downwards at all, especially not 1.3% grade. I think going over the speed bump before stopping and doing my runs pisses the dragy's incline measurements off.

Final thoughts: I finally experienced it. My windshield wipers came on during my 1-2 shift. ROFL Never had that happen in any of my Autos. Hilarious. Goal is to experience this on the launch next time! Next pass when I get brave enough and less cowardly will probably be 5200-5500RPM, and gonna try my absolute best to rev it out more than 6K. We'll see though.

😆 It's great to see you enjoying the car so much after your hard work. Congratulations for sticking with it.

Thankee, sir.

I must admit, it is pretty nice to actually start shaking the car down. It's slow now, but exhilarating nonetheless. Sounds weird, but its almost like I forgot the whole goal was to be able to make drag passes in this thing and not just cruise it around.

And now I have a baseline to measure gains.

I'm glad I stuck with it too. It's been a long, strange journey.

I didn't plan on doing this again so soon, but I couldn't sleep anymore and honestly...just couldn't resist.

I am f***ing STOKED with this. I changed nothing except launching at 5200RPM, and shifting around at least 7K. I'm fairly sure my launch could be harder, but I really don't want to break this 90 22-spline t-case or 2-spider diff, so I'm kind of slipping the clutch a bit. I'm also not just RIPPING it into second gear.

But man. I dropped a full second basically off my original 0-60 time with nothing but a driver improvement. Obviously you can see where I let out way early on the 1/8th mile pass...but it's actually faster and at 5mph less! I think I would've been at like an 8.7ish or 8.6 maybe if I kept in it.

Fun bonus note: These tires at 35lbs actually spin on the launch even with somewhat slipping the clutch. I couldn't believe it! It's not blowing the tires off of it like the Edge does...but that was super cool to experience!

I know it's lame and slow and nowhere near even a moderate 16G build...but I am so happy with this. Wastegate pressure, baby timing map, still room to grow on the shifts/launch. Stoked.

P.S. - this dragy run was in the SAME EXACT SPOT as the previous dragy run. Same lane, everything. This time I let the car settle for like 10 seconds and well..you see the results. Dragys. ROFL

That's cool to see that you are having fun with your dsm :thumb: When the car starts running better, that's one of the most joyful moments. I bet you will sleep less and less because you would always think more about next run, next upgrades and modifications LOL

Do you have the 4 bolt rear? If you have the 3 bolt rear, IMO most likely you would break it before breaking the t-case or the stock center diff.
I had been always slipping the clutch a lot at launch for babying the drivetrain components. I had a 22 spline transmission and t-case, stock center diff and 3 bolt rear. Probably more than 100 launches in the track, I finally broke only the 3 bolt rear. I needed to replace the clutch disc more often though.

Awesome, that's good to hear. I've got a 4 bolt rear in the car, and a spare 3 bolt rear too. That makes me feel better! But I'll definitely still baby it. It stills feels good launch wise.

And you're so right. I'm already fiending to hit up a local drag strip now. So funny, I got so caught up just driving the car and putt putt'ing around town, I forgot the cars purpose. It's definitely now a monkey on my back. LOL

Well it's about time you had FUN in a FUN little car! All of the work that you have done pays off in the SMILES you get from doing it.
Man I know how you feel when you are scared to run the motor harder, but you can't TUNE what you have no data for. Imagine me working from your comfort zone up to my 9200 shift points. It WILL make parts of the body "pucker", but now it's the "norm" for me. Scary, but these engines are dam stout!
Now, go out and have some more FUN :hellyeah: ROFL

Gotta have FUN. ROFL :thumb:

It's just hard to organize a DSM event these days. Outside of the Shootout, of course. But that's been on a schedule for years. We're just a few guys looking to meet and drool over each other's rides. The problem is that there aren't many members as far South as we're trying to meet. But I honestly don't know where the DSM hot spots are anymore, or if they still exist. One location may not be better than another, but I'm sure there's a location that could be reasonable for more members than the one proposed. Maybe. Just something to consider.
If we can ever get a few names to agree on attendance, I'll come shake some hands and talk endlessly about gearhead shit. As long as it's reasonably close to home (=/<2hrs)

Upped the duty cycle on the boost controller from 10%(which is basically nothing), to 25%. Boost is around 17-18lbs and it feels so goooood. So I've upped the duty cycle to 35% and the wastegate crack pressure from 7.5 to 8.5. I want to run 20-22lbs then push as close to 30 after I hit puberty. But, very low 20's will suffice for now. Gonna take another crack at a 0-60 run later to see how she's improved. :D

Somehow glossed over the BucE's meet, I'm down. Usually have some free time on Sundays.

What about tomorrow? Lol. It may just be you and me, but hey!

Dear God 20-21lbs feels amazing. 14-15 was nice, 17-18lbs was nice and peppy. 20lbs is starting to get fun. I think on 20-21lbs the Talon would put the gap on the Edge on 93. Especially with a soft-ish 1.7ish 60' from the Talon. The best the Edge can ever muster is like 2.1-2.2.

This is seriously thrilling. That's why I built this damn thing. God, I love this car. Now I just want to drive it everywhere. Lmao.

God. What a thrill. I'm tired and need sleep but I definitely am gonna try my best to get some 0-60 runs and maybe a full 1/8th mile dragy run tomorrow.

20lbs was the magical number when I had my last WRX. That's when I moved into the 3 second range 0-60. At 21lbs I was running 3.84 seconds. My stock replacement clutch was getting exhausted at a very low mileage though. Being in the low 5's is satisfying. Just stay there or maybe high 4's so the car can last a while LOL

Finally got around to doing something I should've done like, weeks/months ago. Wired the brown wire to the sensor ground at the ECU. While I was there, I got sick to death of all the excess wiring I missed before and deleted a bunch of it. Found an entire harness for the AEM Oil Pressure gauge that was included with the car. Ripped it out, but saved the harness and gauge. Just need an oil pressure sensor to match and it'll be a low cost oil pressure gauge, which I need.

Anyway, while I was messing with wires I was curious about something. So I plugged in the Panasonic touch screen radio/headunit that was included with the car, and much to my surprise....it works!! Only the right side speakers work(both front and rear), but I'll be honest...I was clipping wires and stuff months and months ago, and probably cut some of the stereo harness wires. Or they're not plugged in. Either way, now that I know it works I'll get some new speaker wire and do some more diagnosing some time at a later date.

But, after I did all that and cleaned up my mess, I did a short little 3500-5000rpm rip while recording my wideband with my phone, and logging in Link and they both match great. So, good to go to start posting logs again. Gonna let the car cool off and wait a bit, then go back out and do some 0-60 pulls. :D Stoked!

I'm excited on your behalf, man. I'll make a point to come down and visit when you get it running and ironed out. Or we'll plan to meet at the shootout. :p

You have a very good point. I think honestly I'm gonna just leave 20-21lbs as the "A" boost setting, which will be my full time boost setting. I do plan on turning it up to the max my fuel system can safely run(or max 93oct will get me) and that will be my "B" or "kill" setting. This car is so fun at this boost level on the street. Boost comes on nice and it just pulls clear to as high as I feel comfortable revving it. Doesn't feel like I'm murdering the car either.

I admit...I'm extremely curious to feel 27+lbs though.

I am just tickled pink, man. I can't even. Lol. Went out to get some gas, and on the way back decided to do a 0-60/partial 1/8th Mile pass. This was the results. Ricer Excuses/Details below pictures.

ThirdDragy0to60_20lbsBoost.jpg
ThirdDragy1_8thpass_20lbsBoost.jpg

I am the fastest man alive. :p J/K

Ricer Excuses: On both previous runs I had 1/2 and 1/3 tank of fuel, and it was sub 60* temps. You can compare the temps and altitude to the previous two dragy passes for yourself as well as temps. For this pass, I had little over 3/4 tank of fuel. So, much more weight and hotter outside.

The launch this time was sub-par to say the least, and it was 100% my fault. I don't know why but I kind of chicken-footed the clutch instead of just slipping it super fast(I'm not popping it. Not worth the damage!) and then made a full pull to roughly 70mph, then let it coast.

But...even with all that LOL

5.2 0-60 and 8.9 1/8th mile. ROFL I cannot laugh enough at this, considering how this happened. I wasted a good half a second easy or more with the ID-10T behind the wheel error, and the fact I coasted to an easy 8 in the 1/8th just tickles me pink. I ripped 1st to 2nd so hard the wipers came on again. So funny. LOL

But yeah. This thing has solid 4's 0-60 in it as it sits, and mid-low 8's in it changing nothing but a driver mod. Even on this pass had I kept in it, it had 8.7's in it. I still have yet to just absolutely RIP a launch. I don't think honestly I ever will. Not worth the driveline damage. God how fun, man. This car riipppss. I think if I lowered tire pressure, had a better less dirty surface and was willing to just send the launch to the moon and rev it out to 8k...I legit think like 4.0-4.2 0-60 and DEEP in the 8's is possible, changing nothing.

Seriously. This is why people do this. For giggles, here's the log from this run.

Thought you guys might be interested in an extremely short/7 second long clip. I only recorded this to match my wideband to what ECMLink logs read, but still. I enjoy the sound and BOV noises. Like the clip itself says, only 3500-5000RPM pull, like half-ish throttle.

One day I'll get a full 7500RPM pull 1) actually done 2) recorded. LOL ROFL

Also: diving into Stereo wiring overwhelms me. I don't know how people do this, LOL. Best I can tell the radio is putting out the proper signals to the right wires, the signal just isn't reaching the speakers. But only on the Driver's Side. The Passenger side front and rear both work great, and honestly sound great. They almost sound good enough to not even need the driver's side, but it's principal.

Would there be a wire break or something? What if the wires run all the way to the speakers and I get continuity at the speakers? Bad speakers? Stereo is hilariously beyond me, I've never even had a passing fancy in it. Throw a brotha' a line.

Brooooooossss. I fixed the speakers/radio today. The problem ended up being that both driver's side speakers were unhooked. The rear speaker was just plain unhooked, the front one's wiring though got mangled by what looks like the glass or when the PO installed new window motors/regulators/etc. So I soldered in a new wire to repair the broken one, and bam.

Also a pleasant surprise...this sound system sounds incredible! It's like, minimum ten years old but sounds 100% as good as my Edge. I do think I'll add a small 10" sub in the back eventually but even if I do nothing...I can finally jam to some tunes while driving.

Baby steps. The final thing to check off on the "street car, fast with class" list, is Air Conditioning. But, that's gonna take way more work. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to get the car not to struggle with idling, because if I kick both fans on it'll die. I can only imagine if I kicked on the A/C it would die out as well. IDK, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Either way, I'm so freakin' stoked. I'm waiting on some screws so I can do a final mount of the headunit, but the fact it all works after sitting for 12+ years is astounding.

What headunit is in the car? I just scored an alpine from 2005, trying to keep everything on the older side. I'm not huge into bass like I once was but a sub in the trunk definitely ties it all together.
