No clue. I couldn’t find any info on it either. But the guy is super trustworthy/well known so it may either just be a mixup with names. I planned to contact Jacks and ask about it if I ended up buying it.

The Ultimate Ratio build was something they offered back in 2013 or so around the time I bought my dsm. I don’t remember if it was an evo 3 gearset or the typical late 91-early 92 but I wanna say it was their top shelf build at the time, rated for 700hp.

You could reach out to them for more info on it too:)

That’s all I could find as well.

It would be the 91-92 IIRC. the evo 3 transmissions are great but weaker. i do believe it would come with a 4 spider centre diff too unless opted for the welded. i could be wrong

I know the trans that the guy is selling has a 4 spider in it, so that sounds right! That's main reason I want it tbh. The 4 spider.

If it falls through I’d recommend doing the white shed speed 4 spider centre diff. That’s what I’m currently doing to my trans

Would love that, but yeah. We'll leave it at that. Lol.

Bought a trans in south Florida that I’m pretty excited about. It’s got super low miles and you can actually still see the zinc coating on the bolts for the trans. It’s a 90 box, so it comes with the tcase, shifter, and cables necessary to use it in my 91. I’m probably gonna swap the output shaft with my 23 spline one so I can use my 23 spline tcase though, as I’ve read they’re stronger.

Or I may just throw it all in and send it. If the tcase explodes, I should have a better built trans by then. :p

I may just outright buy the jacks trans when I get my taxes, if it’s still for sale. If not then I’ll send my “bad” trans out to get rebuilt and hopefully upgraded as much as possible.

If it was me, if your cables and shifter are in good order I’d swap the 91-94 levers off the confuckulated trans on to the ‘90 trans. I always found it easier going that route.

How hard is it to do that? I don’t have an air hammer/chisel.

Not hard if you have an air hammer, someone on another recent thread I just seen gave a great explanation of how to get at it that broke down how simple it was but I can’t for the life of me remember what thread it was! In short, I know you don’t have one but it makes for a great excuse to go to the Harbor Freights and pick up a good ol China pneumatics air hammer. It was always my preference versus swapping your whole shifter and cable assembly and your brackets just to have to get everything back into adjustment, then to switch back to a 91-94 trans down the road and have to switch all that back over again. Switching the levers makes it like bolting a 91-94 trans right back in and keeps it playing nice with all the more common pieces. Plus who doesn’t love having an excuse to go buy a new tool! (My wife hates me LOL)

Dude 20 bucks fresh off the boat from China! Plus whatever coupon deals Harbor Freight is running since it’s the weekend, have I ever steered you wrong in the past? One of these bad Johnson’s is just begging to knock a roll pin out of some Mitsubishi shift levers, it’s meant to be!

The Mopar transmissions have the shift levers attached the same way with roll pins. (So do Honda transmissions for that matter). Back before getting myself an air hammer, I knocked them loose with a sharp punch and basic hammer. Though more time consuming, it can be done. Now I just zip them straight out with the air hammer, almost effortlessly.

I guess what we're saying is, you have no excuse :p

I don’t have an air compressor either. Lol.

I guess I’ll see what I can work out. You’re saying there’s a little roll pin that holds it in? Not the giant circle in the middle of the arm? I need to check my trans over and see.

The circle in the middle is the selector shaft. You're just swapping the selector levers. It's only held on with the roll pin and a slight amount of pressure. Knock out the roll pins and gently tap the levers loose. It they've been jerked around too much they'll just slide right off... Like I said, it can be done with a regular hammer and skinny punch but will take a few wacks. Air hammer is just quick and easy.

This is exactly what I did putting a 90 in my 92. Took a couple minutes it was incredibly easy.

That’s how I looked at it so how we always did them. Deal with changing the levers out right there on the bench to work with the more common pieces or rip the console out and and fish the cables out and all that nonsense to use less common stuff, I liked simply changing the levers and bolt the trans in the car as normal.

I’m convinced. Let’s try it out.

I’m also looking at buying a spare 91 trans in a different part of AL as well. Gonna make sure I have like two or three spares at any time.
That's what I now do with my 2G. I have 3 spare transmission right now, soon to assemble the third. All will be swap ready. I tend to tear them up in various ways.
Plus. It doesn't matter which year or submodel. All of the transmissions are hard to find, especially new internals.

Agree. This is the easiest and simplest way. No need to think anything, just use everything you already have in your car and swap only the transmission.

How hard is it to do that? I don’t have an air hammer/chisel.
If the transmission is out, it would be very easy but an air hammer is a must. Do not try to hit with a hammer, you may damage the transmission, sometimes it's stuck really hard. If it's in car, kinda PITA if there is no space to put the air hammer. Keep in mind that the pin slides only in one way. To push out the pin, IIRC you would need to push it from the firewall side to front side.

I never had an issue doing it with a regular hammer but only did it a few times. I was very direct with the punch.
Because probably the pin is different. This is not a spring roll pin. From my experience, it's almost impossible to remove by a hammer especially if the pin has never been removed before and if the transmission is in car. The risk to damage the shaft would be more.

I’m not gonna hulk smash it. If it won’t come out with a direct punch and light pressure I’ll take it to a shop that I know and get them to chisel it out.

Although I’m not sure how an air hammer wouldn’t harm it over doing it by hand.

Sure it may damage if you would keep hitting it by air hammer for long, but by an air hammer you can remove the stuck pin only in few seconds. By a hammer w/ a punch, probably you can not move it even 1mm by hitting many times.

I'd like some discussion here too. It's a tapered pin if I recall. I've never successfully removed one. I had a scrap bell housing once and decided to cut the shaft off. 20 ton press wouldn't move it. Air hammer either. I gave up. I believe it's doable but it's sure like to hear some success stories.
