Where are the FWDs at????

Yeah, making the drive there, racing and returning home is nice. Is the car running well? Just seems it should have more in it at that boost level? Or is the capability of the Big T28 that much lower than the 14b?
 
Although i've made the AWD swap i still love lookin at this thread and seeing what people are doing on the FWD platform :) I wish i would have gotten a change to take my built trans and slicks to the track on my current engine configuration and see what it would have ran, but after selling my truck AWD just made more sense in my DD, still trying to sell my slicks and TRE trans with quaife LSD if anyone is interested (in classifieds now)

I can't wait to see what the coming 2012 season brins with so many people stepping up their game sa far as power goes... And to be honest i missthe white knuckle experience (read scares) of driving a high power FWD on the street :D

Agreed...choking that turbo down a LOT! You open up that exhaust and that thing will make a lot better power!
 
IFO Bradenton, FL this weekend. Just finishing up the trans today and will be making some passes in FIP on sunday. We will only be running maybe 25psi this week. IFO Gainesville,FL we will be up closer to 45psi and maybe some spray. Come stop by our tent!
 
Just getting out there and racing is representing a LOT more than a lot of people claim they do! ;)
 
I tried to head out to the local 1/8th mile track last week, needless to say that failed due to my dog getting VERY sick and had to be rushed to the emergency vet.....

Was going to try yet again this weekend but i couldnt get the time off of work, seems like everytime i try to make a pass in this car something comes up!
 
Richard are you racing? If you are, you going to be in FWD?
 
I dont get this one problem I am trying to figure out.

Why arent there tons of FWD dsm's running 10s, 11s, and 12s?

This car has been around for 15 years and there are like a handfull of fast FWD's

On the other hand, the srt4, only around for like 3 years, has dozens of cars in the 11's, hundreds in the 12's and some in the 10s, most on stock blocks and trannies still

I dont get it??? Is there just something weird about our cars? Why is it so hard for us to go fast?

I am very very tempted to kill this trend. My tranny blew 2nd and I was gonna swap a stocker in and sell the car, but im like 99% set for calling TRE and ordering their race tranny, swapping some slicks on it and puttin down some times.

They have this new AWD tranny setup they are selling that work on FWD dsm's, and retain the awd gearing, maybe the fwd tranny isnt geared right or something, maybe the awd tranny will help???

Its expensive, $2500 with quaife, but its brand new, its built up and it has better gearing.

I put down 342whp on my old bullseye turbo, vtrim, and Im getting a 50trim from them now to replace my old turbo and then some cams to get about 400whp

With that and traction, it should easily do 11's. If not, Im stumped. I just dont understand why there arent more hardcore FWD dsm's around. :confused:


Just caught wind of this thread LOL. But in the proceses of srt gs swap. Once I get her going and painted up will work on engine mods.
 
I thought those tires where 26x8? Rules changed and I wont go back to a 24/25 tire. The 26s work the best for me (so I will be in FIP). I just put the trans back in mine this morning, My 3-4 was locking me out so I took it apart and switched the gears out to run the late (big sycnros) and the springs where broke so it was a good thing to pull it apart. We wont be running the auto untill march after IFO at SGMP.

they are 26x9.5x16. They say either a 25in slick or a DOT approved tired which a QTP is. So hopefully they don't give me problems.

I haven't updated my profile yet, but I ran a 12.1 @ 121mph w/ a 1.89 60' in my GST. Boost by gear started on the wastegate @ 15psi & 24psi by the time I hit 3rd gear. Planning on running 30psi with the new WaveTrac & fuel system @ IFO in Bradenton this weekend. 11's or bust! My only concern is with the suspension. Tokico's are just about shot. Any suggestions on coilovers? I'm considering KW Variant 3's. The car should make 500+WHP.

Sounds good man. Make sure you come say hi at IFO this weekend. I'm not sure about the coilovers I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction
 
To help with squat for the weekend go get some rubber spacers for the rear springs. As far as coilovers a 2 or 3 way adjustable system will work, just have the rear set hard and the front soft. Stop by my tent at IFO look at my rigged rear springs.
 
I'll check into it tomorrow. My Walbro 255 lph in-tank fuel pump just died today. I hope that I can find a replacement before Sunday! Anyone have these or equivalent in stock?

The KW's are amazing, and using factory reccomendations the ride was infinitely better than the KYB's the last guy had in there. But keep in mind they dig DEEP into your pockets. I forget which site it was, if you'd like I can look it up, but from what I remember, they had the best deal on a set.
 
At IFO we broke the shifter cables so we wernt able to shift into 2nd. But we still pulled 1.67, 1.65, 1.59 60fts with our solid rear springs with tein/kyb up front. Tires were set to 6.5psi (mt 26x10x15). There has been alot of weight removed, the fuel cell and batt are in front of the axles. Spare tire well was removed, CF hatch with lexan.
 
Are you running the bead locks on those tires with that low of tire pressure?
