I recieved the tranny around May of 2009 so its not brand new or anything...but my car isnt a daily driver and with the slow issues it was having I wasnt driving it for fun.
I think from may of 2009 till july 2011 I put almost 3000 miles on it...most of which was easy driving under zero boost.

Well I babied it during the break in period (500 miles). Changed tranny fluid to recommended redline (i believe).Took it to the trak and realized my car was slow (doesnt accel as fast as it should....still didnt figure it out before tranny messed up).
After the first trip to the track I spent a lot of time and money at the mechanic (90 mile drive there and back) with random trips with my mechanic to the track until I realized the strong oder of burning tranny fluid on my drive home.

Wow! Sorry about the tough times . Glad to see you still hanging in there:cool::cool:

So what rim sizes are ppl using for drs or any links would be helpful .I'm shopping for some drag radials and rims ,but don't know what size rims to get

Haha love it!! I think you need to heat those tires up some more and maybe drop the pressure abit. Your mph is good for mid 12's if you can get that 60' down to about 1.8-1.9. Man I live in stinkin paridise and havnt even got to race this year yet. They keep canceling the races, and well the fact we got 42"+ of rain within the last few days LOL. Oh well :(
Thanks man! I was heating them up more and more before each pass, lowered the pressure in increments down to 15 psi, was only running 12-13 lbs of boost in first, and I was still spinning like crazy in first. This is only the second time of used the DR's but last time they hooked like no tomorrow. I'm going again on Friday and I'm going to keep trying to make them grab.

I use 16x6.5" rims with 225/50/16 Hoosier DOT drag radials.

9!-clipsedohc, what's your suspension setup like? I noticed a big change when I put more preload on the rear springs to keep car from squatting. What kg springs do you have front and rear? I bet if you can keep the weight over the front or just keep the tires down you won't spin so bad. Last season I was hitting 20psi in first on my setup and just barely spinning at the top of first. But this is also on qtp's at 12psi.

7 year old AGX/Eibach Pro's set at full stiff in the rear and full soft in the front.

Maybe try just alittle stiffer up front so there's not so much give. But rather alittle give and alittle force. This might help keep the tires down and less spin. Being they are 7 years old struts could be just alittle worn out, and might be alot softer than you think.

Anybody else having wheel hop issues? I snapped my AWD driver's side axle last night and am getting wheel hop really bad, even into second gear on one occasion. Pertinent setup:
  • Prothane motor mount inserts
  • Energy Suspension control arm bushings
  • AWD half-shafts
  • Old AGX/Eibach Pro's
  • 225/50/16 Hoosier DOT Drag Radials with 18 psi
  • Quaife LSD
Here is the carnage:

Man that sucks sorry to hear that

It's all good. It was bound to happen sooner or later. The good news is that I had mu truck there with me and the axle already has a lifetime warranty on it. I just would like to try to keep from having it happen by reducing the stress on it, mainly the wheel hop.

When I was looking into getting a set of drag radials for my car, everyone I talked to did there best to steer me from the radials on the track for this very reason. I was told by many different people Slicks for the track and radials for the street. Never looked to deep into it do get a better understanding because I ended up using my buddies slicks.

Bummer , how many runs on those Axels?

I got wheel hop with my setup as well if I launched over 3500 rpms with my old falkens haven't got to try the bfg's yet.

New setup with rear a lil higher

Better the axle than the diff.
Sorry to hear the troubles either way.
I certainly hope the Quaife doesn't break!

Next time for sure I'll get a full slick. I got these because the fit on the rims I already had.

16 passes over the course of only 3 trips to the strip. I was getting slight wheel hop, but on the last run I had upped the boost just a tad over wastegate for 1st gear. I don't know if that was just a coincidence or not but it hopped really bad on the burnout.

Your car looks good! Here is mine from last weekend:

Drag radials still have a pretty stiff sidewall. Slicks will eat the majority of the shock up and keep the car from bouncing since you have everything else lined up!

My wheel/tire is JEGS 15x8 aluminum wheels with M&H 24.5x8.5 tires.
